    Exactly what we needed!
Digital Detox is a practical and engaging guide to help you take back control of the screen time in your home.A couple years ago, we did this two week detox with our 3 kids (now ages 6, 8, and 10). We loved it! And continued with pretty minimal screen time. But our kids are now asking for more screens, so we needed to come up with a long term plan. This book was exactly what we needed!Molly isn’t advocating for total elimination of screens, but the research is clear. Our kids are spending an unprecedented amount of time on digital entertainment, and these habits are detrimental to their mental health and their real-life relationships. I found the research detailed in this book prompted some great conversations with my husband and with friends. The section about the importance of teaching our kids to negotiate their boredom really stuck with me! It’s so easy rely on technology to manage behavioral issues, but I am so encouraged by Molly to keep doing the hard and rewarding work of engaging and training my kids. They need our time and our attention!Molly’s writing is humorous and, most importantly, hopeful. It’s also intensely practical. Molly understands the challenges associated with parenting, busy schedules, and family dynamics, and she does a great job anticipating objections and excuses. She offers a ton of practical resources for family activities, schedules, and conflicts. She puts the responsibility where it belongs – on us as parents.Technology is not the problem. It is a tool that we need to learn to manage for ourselves and our families. And if that’s what you’re trying to do, this book will help.If you are a parent who sees the negative effects of technology in your home and feels overwhelmed by the challenge of breaking free, you should read this book. It will give you the motivation, principles, and resources to make meaningful changes in your home.-Sharon

Don’t hesitate to purchase this book
This book is a must-have for anyone whose children are addicted to these video games. These games take, otherwise sweet children, and turn them into little monsters. As they point out in the book the games of today are nothing like they used to be back in the ’80s and ’90s. Today’s games are like being addicted to drugs. With a couple of events coming up we were not ready to go cold turkey with this just yet. So we decided to experiment with reducing the play time, and putting hard limits on ending times. However just like a drug addict they fought for more, and when they didn’t get it, they devised little plans to try to get what they wanted. It was not until we finally made the decision to cut off all screens that we saw a drastic and almost immediate turn around. Once they knew there was no hope.Just as they stated in the book, we did not make it a form of punishment. And we wholeheartedly did not expect it to work, but it does! The book does give a lot of information, and gives the parent a better understanding of what’s going on these days. It’s amazing what they can find to do when there’s no screens. We gave a few suggestions, but just left it up to their creativity.I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend this book to a friend. You won’t be sorry that you purchased this book.

A Game Changer for Toddlers to Teens
Digital Detox by Molly Defrank is exactly what we needed. Our kids have always had controlled/monitored screen time. We had set limits and had screen time rules but we somehow still felt like screens were in control of our kids. But, you look around and see the same everywhere!! The question was what to do about it. This book is a practical guide to take back control and get our kids back! It provides well-researched data as to why this approach works then a step by step guide how to break the bond and get in the driver’s seat again. Our kids range in age from 2 to 15 and there is something in here for every age group. Our kids initially protested the detox, but after ONE day, they were so occupied with their non-screen activities that they didn’t seem to miss them (and we had made it clear they would be screen free for 2 weeks! 🙂 Our eldest rekindled her love for guitar and cleaned out her closet and desk. Our middle child started doing puzzles at the dining table – which he’d never done. Everyone’s mood was better, almost immediately. What a GIFT! This plan WORKS and the book is the perfect guide – the author anticipates many questions along the way and she’s funny! Truly a great book that will help anyone with a kid! Buy two and give one to a friend!

Just what I needed to hear
This was an excellent book. Full of wisdom, truth and encouragements for parents and educators alike. I have never been more convinced of our need to minimalism some of the screen use in our home. I’m so grateful for all the information DeFrank put in this book on why I need to get technology back in its place and especially for all the tricks on how to do it. It might feel like stepping off of a cliff if I were to detox my kids without the aid of this book.If you aren’t sure you need to detox your family, are a sceptic to the detox, get defensive when you even read the title of this book, or have said “hands down we need help”, then this book is for you. This book is full of practical advice, and steps on how to detox well. But for me the most important part was the encouragement she provides on why we are the perfect parents for our children to train up in the ways of the Lord and find their God given strengths. This book doesn’t shame us for the last several years of Covid screen indulgence but lovingly helps us get out of that hole. I just wish I had this book in my hands earlier!

This book has seriously changed our life. My daughter was having some behavioural issues that I was going to present to our paediatrician but first I wanted to try the digital detox and WOW! She plays independently again, plays with toys/activities that she had no interest in before, doesn’t wake up yelling at me to “watch a show”. I am so thankful for this book!!!! Also chatted with the author on Instagram and she was amazing!

I read the book 2 weeks ago. The book is an easy read because it’s well-written, but it didn’t really help. Last week, I took the course from Digital Detox Mastery. It’s in English, but it helped me reduce my screen time to one hour. So for anyone who’s addicted, I highly recommend it lol

I liked the plan in this book for taking an electronic break. The information in the book didn’t really add anything new idea wise. I already planned on doing the break and discussing a plan. So it did reinforce my ideas but that’s about it. It does give some examples and stuff idea wise for kids to do so that part was helpful.
