Peace of Mind When Your Pet is Home Alone, Priceless!
I purchased this in anticipation of a new puppy, but plans changed. There will still be a puppy, just not when I anticipated. So I haven’t seen it in action yet.I am awful with electronics and anything that works with WiFi so a friend helped me set it up (then put it away) so that I could do this review.My understanding of this devise is that the App will learn to recognize different pets (I’ll only be dealing with one) and can alert to suspected problem behavior. It apparently will also give advice. As a Veterinarian my take on that is watch the videos of your pet, share them with and talk to your Vet or the trainer you work with to determine what the best course of action is and to ensure that issues flagged by the camera are not medical in nature, pet management related, and what the best course of correction would be for your pet and situation. And if you have multiple pets don;’t be surprised if the pet you’ve been blaming isn’t the culprit! Remember there are many reasons why a pet might behave any given way. I personally and professionally wouldn’t trust an App to inform me why and what to do about it. But seeing the behavior unfold is a big help.I like the private feature where the camera points itself down. One of the reasons I didn’t go with a different one was privacy concerns.It was fairly easy to set up as far as I could tell, and my friend said it was nothing unusual. (As stated, I am hopeless when it comes to these things and am lucky to have friend who will step in and help. All my tech skills are medical.)I also like that this allows remote interaction with a pet. I anticipate that alone time training will be easier on both me and my future pup as a result of this feature. I hope they come out with an upgrade that allows remote treat dispensing.I love that I do not have to sign up for a subscription for the videos to be saved (it does take some management though without that.)As a Veterinarian I can also tell you that this device is a game changer for pets that are suspected of having medical issues such as as seizure disorder, or that have been diagnosed for monitoring when away as well as getting a faster diagnosis and treatment. My previous dog who passed at the age of 16 years had a spinal injury the last 2 years of her life and she would get herself moved around when I wasn’t there to watch her and help. I never figured out how she was doing it, this would have been great to catch her in action and would have allowed me to manage her and facilitate her mobility more when I was with her.A client of mine figured out that one of her cats was bullying another away from the litter box when human were away by moving home surveillance cameras until they caught it, this device would have been a dedicated solution and a way to correct the interactions remotely.I won’t sugar coat it. This seems like an expensive toy, but having seen other similar devices in action I already know this is well worth the money. The pet recognition and behavior alerts seem to be a unique function. And again, you can get a subscription for saving videos, but all the features are free with the purchase, so you don’t have to get a subscription for this to work.When the pup arrives I’ll come back with shared video and and my in action experience for now I think this is one of the better pet monitors on the market and being able to check in from afar when away from our furry family members is priceless. Wish I had had this with my last dog, and it has taken away one worry I had about bringing home a new one soon.

Great camera, capture performance improves with use
Update- after two months of being constantly on, it’s finally starting give me digging notifications when one of them digs in their bed. It’s also giving notifications when one barks non stop at the other over a toy.I’ve been using this camera for a week. Short story… Hardware is excellent. Software could perform better out of the box. The camera and its functions are awesome. The logic it uses is lacking right out of the box but seems to improve everyday.Camera wise, great image quality and the pan tilt zoom feature is top notch. It performs these functions while recording your pet. Functions are also available when you Live View through the app.Right out of box the camera didn’t capture much even though I was there all day and knew the level of my dogs activity. A week later and it captures more clips, but not all activity. Every time my dogs are playing in front of the camera and they do something cute I wonder if the camera caught it, nope. My older Tend Minion Pet Camera did capture it because it records ALL activity, even human.The highlights function in the app seems to only be a captured clip, and not a video of stitched together clips like the highlight feature in Tend Cameras.The app breaks down the clips into All, Activity, Vocalizations, and Abnormal. When in All you can choose subcategories of movement, sound, and scratching. There has never been clips in Vocalizations, Abnormal, sound, or scratching, even though it has captured clips that has my dogs barking and has them scratching.The free option for this system has 24 hour clip storage. The two pay options are different GB levels of storage. The pay options do NOT seem to be tied to function options like camera system that rhymes with SIZE.What I like the best is this system only records your pets and tracks them while recording. Camera can be put in sleep mode and woke up via a button on the camera and not just in the app.
