What a difference it makes to have the right garden tools!!
We have a large 2-level brick patio surrounded by a seating wall and a huge garden area that surrounds the entire patio. The original garden area was planted over 20 years ago, and took about 3 years to complete the design and plantings. I did the design and almost all of the planting and maintenance since my husband felt his only responsibility was mowing 3 of the 5 acres we own. 20 years ago, the garden looked like a botanical garden, but then life got in the way – my elderly mother lived with us for 10 years and we aged.The garden was let go for over 15 years and nature took over. Last year we paid a landscaper to remove the unwanted trees and bushes and the larger weeds. Although the garden area looked much cleaner, this spring the weeds came back with a vengeance. Since my husband told me that he resented I had not done any outdoor work for a few years, I have taken on clearing the entire garden of weeds and other unwanted plants. At 77 years of age, this is no small task.For almost 2 weeks, I have been pulling weeds by hand and removing small branches and dead leaves by hand. I decided to look for hand garden tools that might make the job easier and found this set which I immediately ordered and got the next day.I have been using these tools for the last couple of days and I can’t believe how much easier is to remove weeds and dead leaves under perennial plants. So, what do I really love about this set of garden hand tools?1) They are attractive and pretty which I suppose would be important only to a woman.2) They are very well made and heavy duty. So, I believe they will last for a long time.3) The variety of tools works for so many purposes. The hand rake is great for getting dead leaves and small branches of under growing perennials where a large rake wouldn’t get under and between plants. The different pronged rakes help to loosen soil so weeds can be pulled with the roots so they don’t come back. The small hoe helps to loosen soil so the tiny weeds can be removed with the roots. The trowel helps with removal of larger weeds that have deeper roots, like dandelions.4) The box the tools come in has a handle. So, it can be used to store and transport the tools to the work area without having to buy a tool bag.The only hand tool not suppled in this set is pruning shears which I already have. Personally, I would definitely recommend this set of garden hand tools. It includes almost every hand garden tool you could imagine and then some.UPDATE 06/15/24:I have been using these tools for over 6 weeks every day for the massive garden cleanup. Most of these tools have been so very helpful to get the job done. At this point, I am so happy I found these tools, and can’t imagine getting this huge job done without them.I hope this review was helpful for you.

I purchased this six piece garden tool set for just £15.99. I searched for hours for a suitable set. The tools are as described: all extremely robust, very easy to clean after use, and exceptional value! The handles are soft grip and I found the tools very comfortable to use even with my arm braces on. My arm braces have metal inserts and the handles were of ideal construction. I usually would have the problem of a handle forcing the metal of my arm brace into my hand and causing damage to my hands or the metal insert damaging the handle by digging into the handle – but no such problems with this great set of tools. I think everyone would find the handles very comfortable to grip. The handles are bright red in colour and will be easy to find if you should drop them in long grass.I found it very useful that the company supplied a list of the tools and what each one is for. This may be common sense to many but for a novice like myself who has never done any gardening before this was helpful. The double sided tool, which I would have called a hoe and claw, is extremely strong for pulling up clumps of grass. The tool with the blade cover on is one I have never seen before and be WARNED – it has a blade protector on because it is as SHARP as a razor blade! This item looks as if it has been described as a pruner and I have not as yet used this particular tool. However, the blade is of top quality and I am sure it will be perfect for its intended use. I may have to buy a book now – Gardening for Dummies!The metal part of all the tools are made of top quality rust proof carbon steel which appears to have a hammered type finish and they look as if they will last forever. This type of metal does not rust at all but it is sensible to clean your tools after each use to keep them looking nice and new. On the rare occasion when I am well enough to go outside I need to be able to have everything I need prepared otherwise by the time I am ready I would be too exhausted to do anything. I am therefore storing my tools in a small shopping trolley which is the perfect size to also fit my small oxygen cylinder along with my garden gloves, black bin liner, thick rubber gloves, rags/old clean dish cloths to clean and dry my tools after use, and a sheet of bubble wrap, and any other things which I may need for the planned task. I can push the trolley in front of me whilst driving my powered chair or if walking I can easily find a way to tow the trolley behind me while using my walker.I purchased a massive roll of bubble wrap which is 750 mm wide and 100 metres long and that was only £13.99 and there is so much of it I think that will also last me forever!. My idea was this would be far stronger than the thin cling film like dust sheets sold for use when painting and that I would also be able to use it to help me when gardening. I will be able to sit on the ground and even use a cushion and the bubble wrap will prevent me getting my clothes wet and caked with dirt so it will save a lot of work. I can’t sit up for long so I will even be able to use one of my old pillows on top of the bubble wrap to enable me to lie down whilst gardening. The hand tools are ideal for anyone who is unable to remain upright while gardening. The handles are a sensible length for disabled people to work on raised gardens from their wheelchair if this is they way the are able to work.This set of six garden tools consists of every hand tool needed and at £15.99 are a bargain – that works out to less than £2.67 for each tool! I am keeping them just for me and I can’t wait to be well enough to go out to use them again. I am 61 and I have never seen such good quality garden tools before and it is a bargain not to be missed!
