Customers say
Customers find this diaper pail superior to the Diaper Genie and appreciate its ease of use, particularly noting it’s super easy to use one-handed and takes about 30 seconds to operate. The pail holds a large amount of full diapers and customers like its appearance, resembling a regular trash can. While the bag inserts last a long time, customers report issues with the latch not staying closed and the pail breaking easily. The scent control receives mixed feedback, with some customers reporting it keeps odors contained while others find the smell awful.

Hands Free – Clean as Can Be
I canât believe my life has come to this, but I am writing a review abut diaper pails. But, I feel that my gained knowledge about #2s is worthy of being passed on, and although it might sound a little silly, I have become strangely enamored with my diaper pail, the Dekor. We have 5 kids, and over the years, Iâve changed a lot of diapers. The first diaper pail we got years ago was a diaper genie, and I was never a fan. My biggest complaint was that after you had changed the diaper, you had to push said stinky, gross, and sometimes – otherworldly large diaper thru a small hole on the genie⦠squishing it to fit into a small hole would often cause, letâs call it âspillageâ, that would get poop on your hand, on the pail, and generally places where you donât want poop. Remember, you are doing this while holding your bundle of everlasting joy in one arm while reaching down to stuff the otherworldly large diaper into an unfathomably small hole. Not an easy task. And then, we discovered the Dekor. It rocks. Why? Itâs HANDS FREE. Game changer. It has a foot pedal that opens the pail, then you simply drop the diaper thru the trap door. Thatâs it! Let me tell you, when itâs 3 a.m., and you are a zombie from lack of sleep, you need this process to be as simple as possible. I shudder to think the number of diapers that I have changed over the years, but this diaper pail makes it a lot easier than it was with the Genie. There is another pail that we looked at, the Ubbi, that cost quite a bit more and is made of metal. I looked at in in the store, and it also requires bending over, and sliding a door open, inserting a diaper, and then sliding it closed when finished. Kind of a pain to do every time you change a diaper. It is made of metal, so it shouldnât absorb odors like the diaper genie did, but the Dekor is made of ABS that doesnât absorb odors either, so I donât see the big deal. Another think about the metal pails. In my research (isnât it a bit sad that Iâve done research? â We really need to get out more), the manufacturer says to clean with a dry cloth. No cleaning products or even water. Ok, that is just gross. With Dekor, clean with whatever household cleaner you want, letâs kill any germs that are hanging around.Bags. Different pails have different systems. Some use household kitchen bags, some use cartridges of bags. Dekor comes with a loaded refill, and in my opinion, that is the way to go. You use what you need, and then switch out the bag. We tried using a kitchen bag instead of the refill in the Dekor, and it was ok, but honestly, we preferred the refill. Itâs always there and ready to go, you only use what you need, and in the long run I bet it costs about the same.Stink. Stank. Stunk. â (Prepare for more wisdom). Poop stinks. Shocking isnât it? There’s a reason every diaper pail that’s been around more than a couple months has a bunch of 1 star reviews. Go look at all the other product. Notice they’re all about 3.5 or 4 stars. Then click on the 1 star link for each of them and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll see dozens of people talk about how each product is terrible and every pail sticks to high heaven. Mostly that’s because people have unrealistic expectations that buying a diaper pail means you never have to smell poopy diapers. This is compounded by the fact that the poop only starts to smell once your bundle of everlasting joy begins eating solids. So when you first bring the baby home you think everything is great and the pail is working perfectly and then all of the sudden the pail is terrible and horrible and is broken… Well it’s not broken, your baby’s poop just didn’t used to stink and now it does. Here’s the truth, no matter which on you buy, you’re gonna smell poop. whether it’s when you open the lid or remove the bag, they all allow a little stank to escape. Dekor is no different, it just allows less than the others. Sometimes we go a few days between changing the bag, sometimes we switch it out quicker due to one of those otherworldly poops. The box for the Dekor says it can hold 60 diapers. We might have gone close to that with some newborn diapers, but once the poop got serious, we never waited that long.Reading back over this, I canât believe I just wrote a manifesto on diaper pails. But, I thought I would share some of the knowledge I have gained over thousands of diapers. I just think the Dekor works. Itâs the easiest to use of all the diaper pails by far, and handles the smell. I highly recommend it.

Diaper pail
Nice diaper pail. Bought for my elderly aunt for her incontinence pads. It works great to put them in and no more odors. Easy for her to use and changing out the bag is simple for her also.

Love it!
Comparison: Genie, Plus, Classic*I hope this review and photos are helpful! This is the review I wanted when trying to decide which Dekor to buy.Updated Note 5/2018: We have used this for close to six months now. While I do still love it, it has started to stink. My husband comments on it. He didn’t share that complaint very often with the Genie. The entire unit stinks, not just when I am opening the trap down to drop a diaper. When I open the main door to remove the diapers, a big waft hits me before I have even disturbed the diaper bag. I do believe the smell seeps through the bags (I started with their own and have just recently tried Babyfeel just to see if that brand might be better – seems to be the same). Once the smell seeps through the bag, I’m pretty sure it is being absorbed by the plastic. To combat this issue, I am going to bag the stinky diapers and either dispose of them right away or have them double bagged with a grocery sack. Also, I did dump some baking soda into the bag once and that helped absorb the odor. I still am not ready to go back to a Genie, but I did want to add a word of caution if you are switching for scent control.Original review, unchanged:We used the Genie for 21 months now and I’m glad to move on. The sleeves were annoying and so frequently had to shake/rock the unit around to get the diapers to drop. Occasionally, with a large, full diaper, I had to push it in. Yuck. This won’t happen with a NB size, but a size 4, yes. Also, the Genie sleeves are a bit more costly.Plus: love it! The trap door is spring loaded for the right weight of a diaper and it closes very quickly. I thought the lower height might become a complaint of mine, but since I don’t have to push the diaper in, it isn’t an issue. My one and only complaint is that the bags are a noisy plastic when removing the bag (think grocery sack). Not really an issue, but I did frequently gather them after the toddler was sleeping. Easy to change my ways for the benefit of loving the pail! Other reasons to love:+price! ($32 Warehouse open box!)+replacement bag price+shape of canister+contains smell very well+sleek appearance+easy to remove bag+foot pedal+large trap door compared to Classic+lid can disassemble to become a garbage with a lid (I didn’t verify this, but it was a bonus feature in my selection of Dekor)Classic:Same benefits as the Plus, except that the trap door is smaller. See pictures if this is important to you. It don’t make a difference for a newborn, but I like the size for our size 5 toddler diapers! Also, the classic holds quite a few less diapers. It doesn’t feel too much smaller than the Plus. I think you would be happy with either if you don’t mind changing the bag a bit more often, and if the trapdoor size isn’t an issue. I did not physically use this one since I plan to return it. I’m sure the door is large enough, but since there was a big difference between the two trapdoors, I wanted the larger. Refills cost the same per diaper capacity when I did the math.Overall, the Plus seems comparable to the Genie in capacity, is more user-friendly, contains the smell better since the trap door shuts so quickly with each use, and is more cost effective. And, it can be used as a garbage in the future. I’m a Dekor convert for sure!*I think you would be happy with the Classic as well, but no one wants to change them out anymore than you have to. See the pictures for size difference; the trapdoor size was the factor that swayed me to keep the Plus and return the Classic. I hoped the Classic would fit beside our toilet in the bathroom, but it is too large for the space. I may try the mini, though I would imagine the trapdoor will be somewhat small for pull-ups and toddler diapers. (Not a verified observation, just a guess)The last photo is the Genie compared to the Plus.

My kitty litter solution
I know this is advertised as being for diapers, but it is the best I have found for kitty litter. The litter container I have used for so many years was discontinued, but this is a perfect fit to replace it. The top opening is quite large and is so easy to empty at the bottom. The bags are thick and tough enough to hold a lot of weight. A great find for handling the litter disposal problem and it keeps the odors out completely.

We use cloth diapers, and this seems to work well. We got the 2 pack of Dekor wet bags to go with it. As some have said, cloth diapers are bulkier than disposables, so it only holds maybe a day and a half worth, but Iâm still happy with it. We have taken to using one of the wet bags hanging on the change table for pee diapers, because they donât smell, and this bin for poop diapers only. Contains the smell well, and is easy to wipe clean.

Great pails. I love dekor pails and have been using them for two babies now. My last Pail lasted five years before the clip broke and I replaced with another pail. The old Pail is still useful for garbage or what not. I used this for disposables at the start and then for cloth diapering. I can almost fit three days worth of pocket diapers in there. Last day I just use a wet bag for whatever wonât fit before wash time. No big deal as when baby is older she will go through less diapers. Probably fits about 18 to 20 pocket diapers and inserts. Contains smell very well. I even have a smaller version of this Pail in the bathroom that I use for disposable wipes and cloth liners. The step and drop doesnât work for me. I have to push my diaper in a bit but it doesnât bother me. The disposable bag system it comes with is amazing for disposables. Highly recommend.

Aguanta como tres dÃas los pañales, después hay que desecharlos si no se acumula el olor en la habitación, incluà un paquete de bolsas
