Great strap wrench – worked on 3/4â smooth pipe with some help
So I bought this hoping it would work to install a 3/4â shower head arm pipe with an oil rubbed bronze finish (very smooth). Short answer, it worked if I put a strip of 1/4â neoprene around the pipe. Slipped without the neoprene. It did work on a 1â screw driver. I suspect it would probably work on a 3/4â pipe with some surface texture (eg galvanized) but I haven’t tried. So first thanks to all the folks who responded to my question on the 3/4â pipe. âA System Integratorâ – your review with pictures of different wraps and actually using the wraps on a pipe were excellent and key to success – used 1A fyi. Also Lavenderpenguin – your review and response to use some rubber was the final ingredient. Dynatec – your response to use a pipe wrench was not helpful – I didn’t want to mar the finish on the pipe so a strap wrench was what I was hoping would work – maybe a regular wrench is OK with enough tape and/or a rag.The 12â tool itself seems very well built and I thought the price was very reasonable. I suspect the poly? strap is probably going to be more durable and stronger than a rubber one. For small diameters, it may need some help (rubber, tape, etc) to grab in my experience. Liked the blue color. Function, ease of use, is like any strap wrench. I will mention I made the mistake of trying to pull attached end if the strap through the narrow gap and it got stuck – much fun trying to pull it back out – my bad.Like most strap wrenches, it specifies the maximum capacity but does not specify a minimum. Perhaps it is not necessary if you already know how to use it. However, that leads to the issue of not having much in the way of instructions on how to use. This one did come with a cardboard sleeve over the handle showing pictures of two positions, but the type of info found in the reviews here would have been a big add for this and any other strap wrench tool. Again, my thanks for the helpful reviews and responses.

nice little tool for the price.
Works great, fairly lage, seems durable enough for what I’m using it for, easy to put on or take off, and has held up to its tasks so far.

Good strap wrench
Works well, nice aluminum handle. Seems like it will last a long time. Easy to use and pretty standard design.

Good tool
Super good to remove oil filters
Pfhump –
Strong handle and sturdy strap
Excellent to change water filter. Plastic canister type filter needs to be screwed on very tight, this tool works well!

The strap is annoying and almost useless
I needed the long strap, to go around an 8in locking cap. It’s too soft.I couldn’t get the strap to stay in place unless I grew a third arm and hand. The strap also slips. I have shorter wrenches w/ the rubber strap, they areso much easier to work with. So I’ll look for one of those with the lengthI need.
