Customers say
Customers find the car alarm system reliable and versatile, with one mentioning it works well over 3000 feet. Moreover, the remote start functionality receives positive feedback, and customers appreciate its good range and value for money. However, installation experiences are mixed – while some find it super easy, others say it’s hard to install themselves. Additionally, programming experiences are also mixed, with some finding it easy to program while others struggle with the process.

I have had a few of these
This is probably the 6th one I have purchased over the years. They’ve always worked well. Can be installed in any vehicle if you know what you are doing. This is not for beginners

Fantastic system, easy to install if you have wiring experience.
For the price I paid for this system, the value is amazing. I bought one for each of my cars, they took about 1.5 to install and run the relays, new wires, and get everything set up. If you have a chip in your key, you will need extra parts to make the remote start portion work. I didn’t need this, which made it a breeze to install. As others have mentioned, it doesn’t come with “Installation Instructions”, it also didn’t come with a wiring diagram. It does come with a list of what each wire does, but that’s about it. I strongly recommend you get this professionally installed if you’re not familiar or comfortable with automotive wiring. The relay diagram is for a negative pulse door lock system. Also, a bitwriter is convenient, but not required, you can program it with the valet button and your fob. One thing I found annoying is that it doesn’t come with a remote LED light, if you’re handy you can solder one on the board where the mounted LED is and run it to your dash. Overall fantastic product for the money. Range has been good too, works from about 300ft away in a building.

Easy install and works great!
This system was easy to install and the directions were easy to fallow. Works every time and plays nice with Subarus. (Older ones I can verify. I Installed one for a customers 01 Outback and bought one for own car a 03 Outback) However, I am an auto tech and did have access to the vehicles wiring diagrams to make sure I was connecting the Avital wires to the proper circuits on the vehicles. If you do not have your vehicles wiring diagrams or are unfamiliar with your vehicle, you should do your home work first before trying to install. Avital’s directions are easy to understand and tell you what its own wires/outputs control, but you need to know where those functions are on your own vehicle so you can connect the Avital system in. All in all, if you have your vehicles diagrams installing this device is easy. You can sometimes coax your dealer to print off a copy of your vehicles diagram(s)…we like donuts too.

Affordable, works great, easy install, ignore some reviews
Overall a great unit I think so far, it appears to work flawlessly. Itâs pretty easy to install. But if you donât know anything about car wiring or repairs donât attempt it. I see some reviews saying it ruined their car, no it didnât. You did by installing it wrong. If you know what your doing and have access to proper vehicle wiring schematics itâs a simple install. Took me one hour to install this unit on a basic 2006 Kia Rio. I hooked up every feature too, defrost control, horn, lights, locks, remote start, and anti-grind.Some reviews also complain about needing more parts. That the case with most of these kits. They canât fit all the relays and things into these tiny boxes. Again it comes back to, if you know what your doing itâs easy. If you donât, take it to a pro. Remote start isnât for the typical DIYer unless itâs the simple plug and play versions.I am having one little quirk. It seems after driving the car, I exit the vehicle and lock it but I get no horn confirmation like itâs in the silent mode. But if I wait 60 seconds I do get horn confirmation and will continue to get horn confirmation until I switch the ignition on then it seems to go back to silent mode for 60 seconds. So this issue only exists right after turning off the car. When I first installed it, it did not have this issue. Then I changed some programming and this started happening. Called Avital and they said it was installed wrong which is not the case, itâs installed flawlessly and wasnât doing this in the beginning or with the old unit I took out. So Something funky is happening because there is no programming option to cause what is happening. But amazon swapped it for me so Iâll see if the new one has the same issue or not. I think something just got mixed up in programming. Maybe it just needs a reset but I didnât want to try that till I had a replacement on hand just in case that doesnât work. So just be warned, Avital (AKA directed/Viper/python) will not help you if you have a weird issue. They will just say itâs installed wrong. Luckily amazon has your back! And hopefully this next one wonât have this horn issue. Itâs not a huge deal and doesnât affect the way it functions, more just bugs my OCD that it wonât work for 60 seconds after driving which is exactly when I lock the car and exactly when I want the horn confirmation so I know itâs locked.

Great remote start for a great price love mine don’t know how I ever lived with out one.
Love this remote start unit for the price it can’t be beat. I will tell you that it can be VERY hard to install unless you know cars and are good with wiring as well as reading the wiring diagrams for your car DO NOT try to do it your self. It will piss you off. This goes for all remote starters not just this one. But that aside this one has great range for the remote and you can adjust how long the car will run on remote start. you can program it to turn on the rear defroster. But I think the best part it that it dose not over run the starter after the engine starts like i’ve seen many others do. Also plan on having to buy and wire in some relays because some outputs are positve when your car will need a negitive signal a bit of a pain but all cars are different so thats to be expected. This unit should work in all cars however most newer cars will need a bypass modual in order to interface with your cars anti theft system. So do some research and your cars anti theft system before buying so you know what your getting into.

With a little help from internet resources was pretty easy. We used it to replace a faulty mid-2000s car starter. Basically just repinned wires from old install and cross referenced the wiring diagram from the old and new system, and used the new antenna. Started up first try and also used the door lock unlock. This unit has a ton of features that we didn’t use (installed in a 2005 toyota echo), like alarm siren output and rear defrost. It’s also possible to activate this unit with a cellphone but it appears you need to create an installer account with directechs.com.

Everything works perfect if you know what youâre doing. THIS IS NOT Plug and play. It is a wire in unit that you have to splice into your factory wires. My truck is older so it didnât have a plug and play one for it. This thing just works awesome had no problem putting it in and everything works on it
