Perfect for small kitchens
Large capacity and blocks odors well. Its oval shape makes it easier to put in the counter, and it looks nice. Seems very sturdy!

Love the size, and looks, but the lid doesn’t fit tight and now I have gnats.
I gave this 3 stars for the time being. I like it a lot for the size, and the attractive countertop look. It’s a perfect size too!BUT:1. this is about the 3rd day and I have gnats. I think they are arriving because the lid doesn’t fit well, it’s not a tight fit.2. The lid is a loose fit. And I now I have gnats. I put sticky nat tape next to the bucket, I’ll see if it does the trick.3. The lid has a carbon filter underneath, to manage the smell. It must work, there’s no smell. But they don’t sell more filters for replacement, and they don ‘t say if this is a permanent thing, do you need to replace the filter once in a while?I do love the size, and the looks, so I hope it works out.

3 important reasons for 5stars
Excellent! This is the one you want, for these reasons:1. No smell. This compost bin does not take on the smell of the food scraps.2. Itâs big. With a family and we cook from home there are always lots of food scraps and the 3 gallon bags work, but once I use up those then I will buy 4 gallon bags.3. Wide mouth. The long (rectangular) shape is really helpful for pineapple, melons, cauliflower leaves, and other large scraps. And makes it easy to shuffle food off of a dinner plate, everything lands inside the compost bin. Score!One thing tho, the lid didnât fit right, so I ordered another one and it was fine, so I returned the first one.

counter top compost
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this countertop compost bin because this is the first item I have purchased from this brand, however, it’s nearly perfect. It is a decent size but not too big or bulky to sit in a small space. The charcoal filter in the top of the lid helps keep the smell down while the lid is closed. The sprout on the top of the lid ads a nice detail and is a clear reminder to utilize it. I have an espresso machine and have been mixing dried espresso pucks into the organic matter which is great for compost, helps with the smell a bit, and has helped keep the decaying matter from sticking to the container too much.The lid isn’t quite the same color as the bin which is a bit disappointing. The one other thing I would change is the fact it doesn’t have a line so you have to hand wash the bin due to the wooden handle. I did end up taking off one star for the combination of the bin and lid being slightly different colors and the fact it’ll need to be washed by hand.

fits perfectly in the end of my sink making it easy to scrape scraps into so it does not take up counter space. holds enough for several days of ends, bits, peals and pieces. easy to carry out to the street compost bin and it is attractive

Nats, bamboo/poorly machined, so lid does not fit
It was not machine very well so the lid kept falling in or out. The description stated it was made out of bamboo, however, it seems like plastic. When I looked into it closer, apparently it is just made out of bamboo fiber, and the rest, some kind of fiberglass, plasticky material. I bought it because I thought it was biodegradable, and I assumed that the lid would fit. I would never Buy it again.

Handy counter bin for first step of collecting compost items
The bin is a good size for collecting scraps from family meal preparation without being too bulky. Allows taking out compostable items in bulk instead of a bunch of tiny trips, which can be the difference on whether composting can fit into a family’s lifestyle. The lid fits neatly on the bin even with using a liner and the leaf handle, though noticeably flexible, is still fairly simple to grip. The ventilation with carbon filter is reasonably designed and as works as one can get with passive filtration. The wooden bin handle is a basic style but functional and convenient.I initially got this product with it already having a long crack from the handle attachment going downward, but I got a replacement that was fully intact on arrival and seems acceptably durable. While I’m not sure the full composition of the bin, it is believable that is made from a cornstarch-based material. Even though it is easy to clean, I would suggest using compost-friendly bags with the bin to make removal of the scraps as neat as possible and prolong the good condition of the bin.

Nice color and look is nice but the lid does not fit well and the ‘filter’ is flimsy and allowed in fruit flies
