Great product, even better customer service
Purchased this product for my front door after already owning the U-Bolt Pro Series for my mudroom door. Worked great for about 2 years but then recently it stopped working electronically all of a sudden. I reached out to customer support and after a few rounds of troubleshooting, they were able to quickly send me a replacement. I’ve had 0 issues with my other lock so I’m inclined to believe this malfunction was a one-off. Build quality has always seemed top-notch and the app is easy to use. However the speedy responses and help from their customer support left me wanting to leave this review. 10/10 would recommend

U-Bolt lock
Easy to setup and easy to used.Also looks good.Recently I had a problem with wifi connection, contacted tech support and they took care of me. Now the wifi is stable again.

Users cannot get in 40%-50% of the time and adding users fails more often than not.
I run a vacation rental business so I need to enter guests all the time. Even from the beginning, adding user was difficult. The process frequently fails and supports solution is to release all apps from memory on the phone then opening the “U home” app and try again. It is not unusual for that to fail and then the phone needs to be rebooted. A problem now occurs 40%-50% of the time where the users cannot get in even though their credentials are in and accurate. The only way to solve this is to delete their credentials and re-add them and pray it works. These locks have serious problems which have only gotten worse with time. The latest problem is some locks being completely disconnected and WiFi is fine. Support is polite and responsive but is trying to help with very flawed products. I recently switched to Yale Assure 2 and am very pleased. Yale Assure 2 is reliable, easy and succeeds the first time.

Great lock but there are a few glitches
This is our first smart lock and overall, we are happy. We ended up buying a second one for a short term rental. The physical install is simple if you have ever installed a deadbolt lock. The software install was also simple. The main issue during programming is to make sure you are on a 2.4 GHz frequency on your router. If you are using your phone, you may need to go into your settings and connect to 2.4 GHz. If you are on the 5 GHz frequency, it will not work.Other Pros:- You can program multiple entry codes for residents, contractors, and cleaning staff, to include with limited time frames.- Most programming can be done remotely. I can add codes anytime.- I can add tenants and it will send codes and invites to them.- Battery longevity is good and it notifies you when they are getting low.Cons:- Initial programming must be done in-person. Whoever installs the lock has to have the master code to conduct initial programming.- The auto unlock is worthless. We have never been able to get it to work correctly.- The auto lock is great but gets glitchy when you extend the time. It can be adjusted from 30 seconds to 4 minutes but seems to not work at times when I mess with the time settings. It has been good lately so that may have been addressed with a recent software update.Most issues I have had have been solved by simply removing a battery and reinstalling it. For the most part, I am happy.

Smart Lock Warranty
Update May 2024 – The door lock simply died. There was just no power getting to the unit. I had tried new batteries, remade the wiring connections, made sure there was no corrosion on any of the leads, and checked the unit with my multimeter – Nothing! I looked up UTEC tech support and troubleshooting for help. I then reached out to their customer service (late evening Central time) and had a response from Kiki a few hours later. I was asked for a couple additional pieces of information and they processed a warranty for me. I had a new power supply within a week of filing a warranty. There was constant communication throughout the process from Kiki. Overall a very pleasant experience. Recommend this product and company.(Original Review) – Have used this door lock for several months now and has not given me any issues. Teenage kids seem to enjoy using it. It’s wonderful not needing to carry a key when I go for a walk or worrying that I forgot a key and locked myself out. Code or app, this lock is worth its money.

good lock but…..
My first dealings with a wi-fi lock…..worked great while in the house that the lock was installed in. got to our other house and started having issues. tech support is ZERO. luckily for me there are good folks on here. but one issue i am still having is the lock ALWAYS shows unlocked….been waiting for 3 days for u-tec to respond. one thing I wish i could do is make copies of the the key. there are 4 of us and only 2 keys.Lock worked this morning and dead tonight. Did everything the troubleshooting guide said to do. Submitted help request to tech support. Lock has not even been installed 3 months. I hope they have a good warranty.

Great lock – dismal battery retention.
The lock itself is great. Checks off all the boxes:Pros-LooksFunctionReliability (except battery- see below)FeaturesSecurityAppCons-It hardly retains battery for more than a few days. A brand new set of duracells will last maybe a week, max 10 days with minimal usage.I burnt through so many batteries with this thing that it got frustrating.Then started using rechargeable ones, now i have to plug batteries in every 2nd or 3rd day. ðWhy couldn’t you figure it out Ultraloq?

Works as intended, just hooked it up today and zero issues sofar. Waiting to get internet hooked up to test the google home and away features. But I love it sofar, the movers used it today and saved me from having to run over to unlock the door lol.

The parcel arrived as the notifications. As I have recently had hip surgery I decided to replace the old worn lock with a new didital. This has all of the bells and whistles.The installation was straight forward and had it up and running within 2 hours.Now I am able to open the door with keys and as I am on crutches makes access a breeze.I have also incorporated it with Amazon Alexa and able to instruct Alexa to unlock the door so I am able to use voice to open the door for guests to have access and family members now have their own access codes.If I need assistance I am able to give out a tempory access passkey for others.Would recomend this product.

We tried another auto lock and it started acting up in a week and was utterly unusable in a month.This lock has raised buttons you can press with gloves on, and is pretty robust for the price.I will note we got the most basic model… no fingerprint and no WiFi.So far this lock is very fast and very good.Another thing worth noting is that if your door jam tends to move in the cold making your lock bind against the metal at all, you have to fix it…. this WILL cause problems. These auto locks need a clear path into the lock hole, no rubbing.

Lock is exactly as described. Installation was easy and straight forward. Had a slight issue with the lock when first installed. My mistake. Customer support was excellent. They got back to me in less than a hour considering it was the weekend. Followed their suggestions and the lock was fully functional. We will see how it performs over the next few years. Quality appears to be there. Very happy with my choice of lock. Would highly recommend.
