Brilliant!!
Already have their CD and cassette players, figured why not get this and complete the set? Figure it would be great for travel as a radio and amp. Same high end build quality and the initial packaging gives you everything you need to plug in and go. Easy to use, intuitive, small, lightweight and a fitting throw back to days past. Reception is great, plenty of volume and the sound quality is impressive. The three position bass switch does exactly what I remember older players doing…only this is arguably better. Coolest feature is using it as an amp/dongle for another device, like my phone right now. It’s about on par with my THX DAC and can provide plenty of juice to my DT700s and HD600 headphones. Currently listening to a streaming service with my Koss Porta Pros. Overall I’m very impressed by this. Now I wait for Fiio to develop a record player (red, please).

This thing is a mini beast! Picks up signals like a charm! The stereo sound actually works ! I have hooked it up to my Dolby atmos sound bar using converters ! I am surprised by its size to perform radio lol! Totally worth it!

My go-to portable radio! Great bassy sound
I got this little retro rm radio to not just listen to radio but bevause i got a $13 little 3.5mm plug to FM transmitter here on Amazon and it transmits 300+ feet–longer than Bluetooth so I just put my music player in my CAR and walk around the gym and exercise with this radio tuned to my music! Covers the whole gym! So simple and to me, better than bluetooth = music player 3.5mm out to the tiny 13$ fm transmitter to this bass-boosted little radio! Comes with very good headphones too. Good quality amp in this and it even doubles as a headphone usbC inline amp, but I’ve never used that. The rotary tuner is kinda sweet, I’ve not tuned a rotary dial in 15 years! Very retro! Love it… has pretty good reception too for an internal antenna-I don’t like the kinds of fm radios with the antenna in the headphones, you cant use ANY headphones with those gotta use the special ones with a “third rail/ring” connector for antenna…this uses any 3.5mm TRS standard headphone!

Great little throwback device with modern tech (usb c!)
Iâve been fascinated with this radio for a couple months since seeing an ad for it, and finally got one. I like listening to radio because sometimes I get too stuck pressing the next button on streaming music and having local PBS is good, too.The radio is well built, small and lightweight. I got it in silver which is just a great nostalgic colorway for something like this. The tuning indicator and LEDs also look great. I really like the volume on/off knob design, too. Overall good ergonomics for a little box.The reception is great – better than a larger/desktop digital one I have that also does shortwave etc. the ads/website say it has an internal antenna but Iâm almost certain it uses the headphone cable as an antenna as reception drops out when unplugged (unless theyâre just being smart about battery life but disconnecting the radio circuit when headphones are unplugged?).Itâs so nice to have an analog tuner for radio. Sure, saving presets on digital is helpful but scanning on digital just doesnât feel like radio. I really like being able to use my thumb to just skip around with the dial until I find something. Really easy to use- just turn it on and find something. Done. The included headphones are just fine for radio. Donât need anything fancy for this. The bass modes are good, too. Not necessary in my opinion but they sound good. The radio sounds good when bass modes are off too. Finally in 2025 itâs great to have something like this charge from usb-c.I havenât tried it as a dongle yet and already have a smaller FiiO device for this (BTR3K) but I guess it could come in handy if I ever need it for that purpose.EDIT: I removed one star because this device is very, very fussy about USB cables. It will not charge or work in amp mode with a Chubby brand USB-C cable, it will charge with a very old pixel phone usb-c cable I dug up while troubleshooting (but again, will not work with amp mode). The included digital audio cable does not deliver power. So if I took this thing on a trip with my I’d potentially be taking 2 additional cables, one for use as a DAC/Amp and the other for charging. Kind of defeats the compact nature of the product 🙁

Need a light?
I’m sick of smartphones- I’ve uninstalled half my apps and don’t miss them. I record tapes for use in my car, and now I can bring a lighter sized radio anywhere I want. It’s incredibly clear even compared to my car, or the 3 other non-portable radios I have. It could be cheaper, or have AM bands, but who am I to judge. It’s an amazing quality device and it’s size reminds me of the Casio Card Radios from the mid 80s.

Best thing I have bought in a long time
This is one of the best things I have purchased in a very long time. The radio is well built and very light and small. It works excellently here in NYC with dozens of channels coming in clearly. I am so pleased with the purchase. One thing to note, I tried plugging it into my Marshall speaker via a connector wire and it will not play over the speaker. I am guessing it doesn’t put out enough amp or whatever to work. Not sure. Anyway, it works perfectly with headphones.

As a child of the seventies, I still cling to the things that meant something in my youth, long before the digital world came to be and everything was condensed to the shared (shaped?) reality of the smartphone screen. Thats why I’m increasingly delighted that brands like Fiio recognise the value of technology that echoes a more analogue time. Although I don’t need these things, (and I doubt anyone does), they resonate with me and no doubt many others, either in trying to recapture their past or get a feel for a time they didn’t know. This radio is beautiful. It is worth every penny and I’m surprised its so cheap. I will continue to support Fiio as they release these ‘retro’ items. If you’re considering this you only need to know you will be absolutely delighted. I would also recommend the case that Fiio makes, its just as high quality. Oh, and the supplied headphones are surprisingly capable.
