Worst Toaster Oven I’ve EVER owned⦠and Iâm OLD!
This toaster oven/air fryer started out great. And by that, I mean it worked. Which is a pretty low bar for a brand new, never used, appliance. That bar, however quickly became pie in the sky unobtainable for this cheap, poorly designed, and terribly manufactured piece of garbage (literally, because the garbage is where it ended up just SIX MONTHS after purchasing!). As I said, it worked, right out of the box. It turned on, it got hot, it (usually) turned off when the timer was up. Sadly, ALL of these most basic of functions were well beyond the technical abilities of the pitiful excuse for an âIndustrial Designerâ and the slave labor employing, cost cutting ineptitude of the Third World âManufacturerâ that Black and Decker outsourced this loser to. Within a month, ALL of the controls became as sketchy and unreliable as your sisterâs unemployed âdrummerâ boyfriend. The Temperature selector would occasionally hit our intended target, though not nearly often enough to be considered, by any definition of the word, âaccurateâ. And that knob eventually (6 months) gave up its valiant struggle with mediocrity, and just stopped trying. The âTimerâ never really functioned in the realm of actual âtimeâ. Its range of motion from new, only covered one direction, forward. If you missed your target time for cooking on the first spin, too bad, Einstein, because thereâs no going backwards. Time only marches on for this machine. Your two choices are burnt food or skipped meals. I mean, seriously, what knobs only turn in one direction? That seems harder to engineer than just doing it right. The entire machine just stopped working before the six month anniversary of this bad decision, and this glorious testament to sub standard manufacturing became an oversized place holder on our kitchen counter, wasting more real estate than a Time Share in Syria, while we searched for what is apparently a Holy Grail appliance; a toaster oven that actually does even a small percentage of what the pretty, full color photos on cardboard box it comes in claims itâll do.I know. Call me a dreamer.Added Note: For the adventurous among you that have already purchased this abomination and are currently experiencing its painful inadequacy, do a quick YouTube search for this Black and Decker model and add âtroubleshootingâ to your search. There are an enormous number of videos of intrepid tinkerers taking their lives in their hands by opening up the case and trying to âfixâ the shoddy workmanship found inside. Wires that are only partially connected⦠or not connected at all, a lack of heat insulation or even basic safety components, wires that glow red hot when the appliance is plugged in, the list of problems seems as long as the component parts listed for this junk in the âmanualâ. Its an insurance nightmare waiting to happen. But be forewarned, you canât âfixâ stupid.

Good all around oven, a few small issues, but i love mine!
I have had this air-fryer/Toaster oven for several years now, and it has gotten a workout, band has the burned on stains to prove it. The outside, however cleans up very nicely, with a bit of wash soda on a sponge or cloth. The inside is a real stinker to clean, an it will never look new, inside, again.I kept the basket, but bought a stainless steel toaster oven pan, and a smaller enameled pan, both work well for different things. And they are easier to clean. I use 10×13 casseroles (with no handles), various size other casseroles, i bake bread regularly, loaves that will not top the bread pan, and roast whole chickens, though have also split chickens and Cornish hens to flatten them over stuffing for a faster bake. I use this for all my oven needs, in fact i have been here for more than 9 years and never used the standard installed oven at all. If you are thinking of furnishing a cabin, this is th only oven you will need, and it is a very efficient air fryer, thus the grease stains. It is a much better air fryer than the âchubby tubbyâ air fryers, has a larger capacity, and no fussing with the product. The oven is very deep, and handles a 12â piza, or one of your home made pizzas with ease. All around great oven, and wide enough for most things, but not a Turkey, but maybe a really, really small (5-6Lb maybe) one, split. Or cut into serving pieces before roasting, though i have never tried it, so no guarantee. A good purchase, and you will never need to buy an air fryer, so one less thing on the counter. It has back bumpers to give it separation from walls, by the way, a very nice safety item.but you might try pulling the crumb tray out a couple inches, to keep the door from dropping when you open it., if the shelf or other site is narrow. Those are the plusses and minuses. Hope you love your purchase.

Works Well despite the complains I read here!
I see a lot of people complaining about this oven, saying it does not do as advertised or the manufacturers ‘lied’ about this or that… I have to question of those people are actually familiar with what a toaster oven is in the first place, it is in essence a ‘convection oven’. not a large kitchen oven, not a food crisper, not a microwave… a convection ‘oven’. It can only do what a convection oven can do, and within those limitations, it preforms wonderfully.Of course, it’s not going to air fry like a standard air fryer, of course it’s not going to work as good as your home’s full-size oven, and it’s not going to heat your mac and cheese like your microwave in 2 minutes. It’s not made to do those things like that, it’s like a jack of all, master of none. But what it does do, it does well, and within a reasonable time span.I’ve so far made breaded chicken with the air fryer feature, as well as the oven setting, I’ve made regular baked chicken, barbecue chicken, (I eat a lot of chicken) I’ve made a whole 12 in pizza, I’ve toasted toast, cooked hot dogs, etc… everything turned out good so long as I actually paid attention to what I’m doing and didn’t leave stuff unattended for an hour or more, which makes sense when cooking anyways.Don’t expect it to be able to do all of the things it lists with the quality of an appliance made to do just one thing, it’s not going to, and you will be disappointed, but if you want an oven that can do all these things at least reasonably provided you are willing to pay attention to what you cook? It will be a good reliable oven.

I absolutely love this toaster oven! Purchased it because our oven died and we weren’t sure what style of stove we were going to purchase. I had no idea there was a toaster oven out there that would hold a 9X13 pan! I’ve made casseroles and muffins with great results. The only time something didn’t turn out very well was when I didn’t preheat long enough. Lesson learned, the next time I baked a large casserole I waited and had no problem. The unit is much lower than others which is perfect if you have the extra molding on your cupboards to hide under counter lighting. It gets quite hot front and top but the sides stay much cooler, very helpful if you have lots of things on your counter because you don’t have a lot of space! Very pleased with this oven and am still using it to cook & bake with for smaller things. Fabulous to know I have such a wonderful back up to our new full size induction range!

I use this and have been for about 3 months for almost all of my cooking in a small apartment and it’s been working lovely without a hitch. Only small thing is the air frying option doesn’t get to hot so takes a little longer than you would expect when using that option but still does the job. 4.5/5.
