Customers say
Customers find the damping spray effective, particularly for door panels and hard-to-reach areas, with one customer noting it works better when paired with a dampening mat. Moreover, the product helps eliminate rattling from subwoofers and provides good coverage, with one mentioning it covers the entire hatchback area. Additionally, the sound quality receives positive feedback, with one customer noting it performs as well as more expensive brands. However, the sprayability and drying time receive mixed reviews – while some find it easy to apply and dries quickly, others report it dries slowly. The product has a strong smell that customers find unpleasant.

Saved my rattling subwoofer compartment
This stuff is amazing. A little messy⦠But if you know what youâre in for it works wonders. My whole chassis was vibrating from a subwoofer upgrade to my rear quarter panel. Used this to coat the inside of the subwoofer cavity and it did exactly as it should. Nice and quiet. Will be using this again.

Good stuff but buy double what you think. Doesn’t cover 20sf
I bought this to sound proof my Fox Box as it has fiberglass tubs. I’d estimate each tub to be approx. 2-2.5 SF inside as well as outside. I was only able to spray the insides of both before running out of spray. Way short of the 20 SF the can says it covers. Considering Amazon only has this on 2 day delivery, my project is cut short and I have to wait 2 days to finish. The stuff is great and easy to spray BUT ORDER AN EXTRA CAN! 1 can only covers 1/2 of what they say…..maybe less. Good stuff though! 4 stars due to lack of coverage.

Truly the best of Amazon!
I drive a 1989 Toyota MR2. This vehicle happens to have the engine, and transmission in the middle of the car for weight distribution purposes. They car idles at 2000 RPM when cold, which produces a tremendous amount of noise and vibrations. Also on the road, especially the open highway, they car SCREAMS doing 65 mph at 4000 RPM. Something had to be done. BOOM MAT. I lined roughly 40% of the engine lid surface area with boom mat, and the results are awesome. I had plenty of boom mat left, so I applied it to various parts of the engine bay’s panels. Perfect. Now the car is quiet and smooth. I can now hear the air coming out of my vents, and other little things inside the car that I could never hear before. I highly recommend this product for sound and vibration dampening purposes. All you have to do is wipe the surface down, to remove all the dirt, and dust. If there are any sensitive areas (nuts/bolts/VIN info) just go ahead and throw painters tape over it. From about five inches out, go ahead and coat the surface liberally. If it’s a hard to reach surface, carefully use the straw attachment. Let it dry for the prescribed amount of time. This is literally a super thick, sound/vibration substance. If there is any unwanted boom mat overspray, I recommend carefully using some brake cleaner on a soft cloth, and gently rub it off(before it dries). It’s meant to last, but you don’t want to damage any paint in the removal process. BOOM MAT in a can is truly the best of Amazon!

ACTUALLY THIN AND A WASTE OF EFFORT
I was expecting a spray with a bit of body. Didn’t get it. Whether spraying up close or way back I just got thick paint; nothing at all like the (fake?) picture they posted up top here. I guess a thick layer of a tarry deadening substance is really beyond the scope of a common (expensive) spray can.Won’t make that mistake again. When you’re slamming a couple of tons of sheet metal down the road, this sort of deadening spray ain’t gonna do diddly squat about all those sheet surfaces drumming and resonating and passing noise into the cabin. The scale of work for this stuff is more in line with sink undercoating. Not vehicles.Maybe I need to buy a LOT of expensive cans?

Works really well
Good Stuff! I have tried a few brands of damping spray and some under coatings as well as spray bedliners. Boom mat works better for sound damping then any of the others I’ll tried. It’s still not all that’s needed to kill the”buzz” from bass but works well with matting and foam. It really is best for the tight spots and odd shaped or rounded areas. I will end up useing 10 to 12 cans to cover trunk, doors(4), and some dash and floor areas.I’ve used 4 cans just in the truck (and put fatmat on all the flat areas first!).

it helps (a little)
I drive a turbocharged 2006 subaru wrx with 116k miles on it. this affordable sports car is one of the loudest cars in the world in part because subaru put almost no sound insulation in the car so it could be light and affordable.road noise has been so bad that it actually hurts my hearing now.ordered 4 cans of this stuff after reading a lot of other amazon reviews.I agree with many other reviewers: this stuff does help, but not that much.I had my mechanic take the wheels off, and spray a lot of this stuff onto the wheel wells. three cans (yes, three) was able to give me a decent coat on the four wheel wells. with the remaining can, I just had my mechanic spray under the driver seat – an undercoating.there definitely is a decrease in road/tire noise. i’ll guess it’s about 1 decibel.the other reviewers are right – you’ll need lots of coats of this stuff if you want to make a big reduction in noise.[side note: for those of you who would super quiet cars, change the tires. sure, very expensive – but then you aim for the source of the problem]I did use 3m 03584 Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating – 16 oz – before. In fact, I think I’ve used 10 cans total on all the wheel wells.I think this boom mat is a little more effective. my mechanic said it was thicker. boom mat also comes with a small, long, spray/straw like tube that can be attached to the can. in other words, boom mat can be sprayed through a provided tube that concentrates the spray that comes out, enabling you to reach into even deeper places for greater buildup. sure, it’s slow… but it can enable those who wants to reach (almost) everywhere to do so.so, I like this stuff. my car is quieter. seems easy to use. darn cheap too. buy only 4 cans of this stuff, and get free shipping from amazon. comes out to only $10 a can.cost effective, helps (a little), and can always put on more later on for even more effect. I plan to buy more in the future.

This product was easy to use when spraying into hard to reach areas in the trunk and door panels of my Mustang. One can goes a long way! My results are pleasing.

Two cans per door, double coat works for me.Asphalt in a can.ð

Very good product. When received the can is heavier than expected and sprays very thick but does an excellent job of reducing noise from the trunk, I would recommend this product for a cheaper alternative to the roll on mats. Two coats in the trunk and the two front doors took the whole can, but would buy again.
