Fitcamx Front 4K+Rear 1080P Dash Cam for 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander
Very good product, it works as advertised. All the install videos I could find on YouTube were on regular Highlanders, so with that in mind I ventured to install it on my 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited M.The front camera was very straight forward and I did read on a review here that the connector to unplug was below on the right side behind the rear view mirror. All videos I could find were for regular Highlanders which have the harness connector on the left side. Running the wire to the back was very simple and followed a suggestion of not really needing to remove the rubber weather gasket on the doors. The only challenging part was in running the rear camera cable and connector through the rubber piece shown in the attached photos. The was because of its bends on both ends, it is narrow and full of thin wires and the cable/ connector for the rear camera is bulky. Thanks to a YouTube video I got the idea to using a long metal straight piece as a lead or guide to tape the cable/ connector to it and pull it through. I used a long 1/8â drill bit (like 10â long) using it as a guide. I inserted this drill bit (the smooth end) through the black rubber tube with bends on both ends, then taped the connector and cable with electrical tape and then proceded to pull it through, it took a while due to the narrow space inside this black rubber tube but with a lot of persistence and patience I finally go it through. This was quite a challenge, the most difficult part of the install, but in the end I got it through. I hope the attached photos helpful to those deciding to attempt this rear camera install. The video quality is very good, see video of front camera and photo from rear camera attached.I love the product and it is good quality and looks like OEM installed.

Easy installation, Great Video Quality
Easy to install. The video is so clear, but you can change the quality depending on your preference. It fits so good the quality looks like the camera comes with the car. The design is great as if it’s manufactured by Toyota itself. Its just a struggle to connect when youre already set up with Auto Drive/Car Play you have to disconnect with Auto Drive/Play before being able to connect to the camera. We replaced the microSD to a bigger capacity, I have a 128GB now. You can also cha ge how many minutes you want to loop the video. The microphone is also clear. You can easily download the video or view – my wife checks on it when I drive and vice versa. Since I stated it’s hard to view the recordings if youre connected to CarPlay.

The Grand Highlander should come with this from the factory.
I spent a lot of time reading reviews and trying to decide if this was the dashcam I wanted to buy or not. Finally decided the âfactory installedâ finish was worth the risk at this price point. I have been incredibly impressed with the system and wish the vehicle had come standard from the factory like this.Front camera install was a breeze once I realized that the mirror has two sets of wires. The wrong wire doesnât match the plug, so you canât hook it up wrong, but you wonât easily see the right one from the drivers seat. The back camera gave me a little more anxiety, but after stressing about it for a while I dove in and it went a lot faster than expected. I did deviate from the instructions and run the wire through the wire boot between the body and trunk so there are no visible wires at all until the actual camera right at the edge of the glass. Whole install looks like it was always this way.Image quality is fantastic and weâve already had to pull footage to share for accidents we witnessed and once when a storm dropped a branch on the car while driving. Field of view is surprisingly wide and does a good job of capturing anything happening. Sound can be recorded on the videos optionally, though we turned that off for the sake of privacy.

Car systems failed after install – scary – 2nd unit worked without issue
***Update*** – I read some reddit posts and got encouraged to try again.I got a replacement today. Installed in 5 min (since I’m an expert installer now) and had 0 issues! Must have been a bad wire/product.The only annoyance was connecting WIFI to the app (It kept re-connecting to the car). I just turned auto-join off in the WIFI for the car and then it connected just fine!I changed to 4 stars only because I had a defective unit (See below from my original review)._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________The install was straight forward. I found a YouTube of someone going it on a grand highlander hybrid 2015 XLE.After starting the car, the unit got power but my car FREAKED out. All the warning lights went off and it alerted me to lots of vehicle issues. Airbag system malfunction, headlight malfunction. I felt the car braking or trying to move! After removal, everything in the car was back to normal.I donât think I wired it wrong as the plugs only go in one way and the unit did have power.Getting a refund needless today. I donât want to ruin my brand new car!

Tricky install but good product
Getting the wires to fit was a bit of a hassle, but once I got things tucked away, it looks great and thereâs nothing dangling. The app seems to work fine (connected with no issues). I was able to see the recordings right away, and the definition on the video looks good.

Poor video quality and customer service
Found out this camera doesnât have Starvis 2. The quality of the video with license plates and signs is not that great. Also if you want to return this item, they make you pay for return shipping so watch out for that! The only positive is that itâs more integrated in the OEM design. If they would upgrade the sensor, it would be perfect! Until this happens I wouldnât waste your money.

Great dashcam! Quick install
Installation and set up took less than 15 mins. I like that itâs not noticeable. It looks like it came with the car.
