    Amazingly simple! Simply Amazing!
Bought my Instant Pot Duo Crisp Ultimate here in “Used – Good Condition” fulfilled by Amazon. The thing arrived in perfect shape with all original literature. After doing a quick pressure test with 2 cups of water (just to make sure it seals), I was ready for my first cook. I had to go for the picture on the box: A whole chicken with veggies!I’ve never used a pressure cooker in my life and it was SO EASY. Seasoned the chicken, tossed in the veggies and 2 cups of water. Pressure cooked for 20 minutes. Then air fried for 20 more minutes to get the skin nice and crisp. The attached picture speaks for itself. Plus – tasty chicken broth as a wonderful by-product for another recipe in the future!Second dish I cooked was much simpler: plain jasmine rice. I rinsed the rice then added it to the pot with water at a 1:1 ratio, then set the pressure cooker for 3 minutes with 10 minutes of natural steam release. It came out perfect. The third dish I cooked was homemade split pea soup. Chopped ham steak, sliced sausage, chicken broth (used the stock from the whole chicken I had previously cooked), a slice of bacon, veggies/garlic, and a pound of split peas. My wife was so impressed she is now convinced this this appliance is magic. All of these things were so easy to do with this awesome appliance. Literally the press of a button or two and the turn of a knob to set the time.I am by no means an expert in the kitchen. Fortunately, Instant Pot is such a household name these days that you can find recipes for all sorts of dishes all over the internet, in magazines, and even in books. Cooking a meal has become fast, simple, and delicious around our household! And I feel so proud of the meals I’ve been able to easily make with this thing.I can’t wait to make my own yogurt, homemade jerky, and take a stab at sous vide. I still love our 40 year old Crock-Pot… But I wonder if the slow cooker setting will produce results so good that I end up putting the old hand-me-down in storage! This may legitimately be the ultimate appliance for saving counter space.*Update* I have made my own jerky from round roast using an inexpensive dehydrator rack I found on Amazon. At 140 degrees for 5hrs, it turned out so perfect.I also have made homemade yogurt with it. Some complain that this model does not allow you to bypass the pasteurize cycle of the process, but in my opinion that’s a good thing because it will kill any contamination in the pot before the fermentation begins. Greek yogurt is almost completely fool proof with this thing! We are now saving a TON of money on yogurt in our house and our homemade yogurt tastes much better than the expensive name brand yogurt at the supermarket!Instant Pot… Where have you been all my life?!?

    Room for improvement
Update 2-18-2025I’ve lowered this to a 1 star. This Instapot does not see heavy use. We mainly use the air fryer and pressure cook functions for rice, potatoes, and the occasional roast. Regardless we have owned it since early December and it has already become completely useless. The lid release lever is broken and it will no longer release the lid, or lock. Normally you have to press the lever to the right to spring the latch for it to open. When using the pressure cooker you slide the lever all the way to the left to lock the lid. Now the lever slides freely all the way left or right and will not trigger lid release.-From the beginning when pressure cooking the pressure cooker insert seemed to create a slight pressure seal with the inner pot so would cause the lid to stick a little, but this seemed normal since it would create a seal when pressure cooking. That is not what is causing the issue. Even with the pressure cooker insert not installed, the lid release lever is completely broken and when you see how the mechanism works where it rotates steel plates on the inside, it just seems loud and damaged when it turns. This is after NORMAL use, no adverse conditions or drops or anything that should cause it to fail like this.-Of course, it is too late to exchange it with Amazon, though we did purchase the extended warranty with Asurion, so hopefully we can get this resolved in a timely manner without too much trouble. But if I had to pick a product again, this would not be my choice. The item it replaced was far superior and it is just unfortunate they no longer manufacture the Ninja Foodi OL-701.Original Post–We needed to replace our Ninja Foodi OL701 and since that is no longer offered by Ninja or anything similar at this time, we decided to try this Instapot out. It seems like it will do everything our old Ninja did but a little less convenient. Do not get me wrong, so far this has been a very nice appliance but I just want to point out some things it lacks that the product it replaced had. Perhaps Instapot will consider this for future models.1. The biggest ISSUE is that I have not been able to set up the WIFI app and remote. We would follow the instructions and it seemed like it connected only for the app to show it disconnected. I had to remove the appliance from the app and try connecting it a couple more times. The last time I tried it gave me a different message in the APP saying “Connected but Remote option not turned on in the appliance check the manual” The thing is the manual has NOTHING regarding a remote function only the WIFI instructions I had followed. There was no button on the appliance console. So I will need to contact Instapot after the Holidays to ask how to get that functioning.2. Small issue, there is not an ON/OFF button. Even if we want to leave it on in the ready status for us to access through WIFI. There should still be an ON/OFF button.Recommendations:1. This is a recommendation. The Ultimate LID is a lot nicer than having separate lids. However you still have to swap the Pressure cooker/steamer inner lid off and on. The Ninja Foodi OL701’s lid needed no swapping out and could perform ALL its functions. So if it can be done without having to swap any parts, that would be a nice improvement for the future.2. I was a little disappointed the only size for the ultimate lid was a 6.5qt. The Ninja Foodi OL701 was an 8qt. A larger capacity would be a nice option for the future. (Especially since air fryer baskets and stuff take up space and we need to keep separation from the lid)3. The accessory grate for airfrying is a bit awkward as things fall off the sides and the handles take up space in the middle. The Ninja Foodi OL701 used a fry basket that sat within its main chamber this basket could be pulled out whole and not spill from the sides.I will be absolutely honest. If Ninja had not discontinued the Foodi OL701 I would have not purchased this Instapot. Though this Instapot was always the 2nd choice and the Lid of the Ninja does not need to have a part added or removed, the larger capacity, and the better-designed air-fry basket, were all reasons I purchased the Ninja in the first place and sought to replace it.That being said, the Instapot is a GOOD system and has had great reviews and much love from those who use it. Despite it falling short of the Ninja in my opinion, this is still the second-best all-in-one I have come across. Now if I can just get the WIFI component of this product to work as promised it should be a great tool for our kitchen. I only hope that Instapot considers a larger capacity, that is probably my biggest disappointment going from an 8qt to a 6.5qt. I’d have given this 4 stars if not for the WIFI issue and the poor instructions in the manual provided.

Excelente instant pot!

First time trying an Instant Pot and quickly discovered something is faulty with it. Trying to use the pressure cook feature the first time with rice the cycle stayed stuck on preheat while steam poured out the top . Than had C7 error. Contacted customer service to which they wanted video proof of what it was doing and had me do a test on it. The video clearly shows it is not working correctly but no one has responded to me since I sent the videos in which was last week. I have sent another inquiry but have heard nothing back. I was so excited to finally have my first instant pot only to be very disappointed.

With counter-space at a premium in my kitchen I replaced my InstaPot with this dual device and I’ve been very pleased with both the air fryer and pressure cooker performance.Takes up less space than just the InstaPot did, which is important for us.A couple of minor quibbles: The old InstaPot, allowed some functions with the lid open and a glass cover (slow cooker, proofing dough). This one requires the lid to be closed for everything (except saute) so you can’t see inside. This is frustrating for me, and not sure why it’s needed.Pleasantly surprised with the functionality of the air fryer – works great.
