This is a really great Hatchet, if your a “Hand Nailer” youl love it, iits a pleasure to use. I was super suprised that Eastwing even made a wooden handle Hatchet. Wooden Hatchets are the very best for hand nailing.

Good hammer

The actual hatchet head works great and the hammer does a good job, but the handle is awful for my hands. It’s not that it doesn’t absorb shock or anything, its just that the way it’s tapered quickly fatigues your hands. It’s winter time now and when my hands are wet from carrying frosty bundles and stuff up to the roof and I’m ready to chop some cap out of the way to put in my anchors, the handle is slick and I have to white knuckle it or choke way up to where the taper begins. The harmonics are also not that good and the damn thing rings like a bell when you’re pounding nails in. Aside from that, can’t complain. No chips or deformation as of yet.
