From TLC’s Sister Wives star Christine Brown Woolley, a groundbreaking and heartfelt memoir about living in a family like no other and finding the strength to leave polygamy—and the only life she’s known—behind.

Christine Brown Woolley had always dreamed of having a picture-perfect family—beautiful children, an adoring husband, and of course, a sisterhood of wives to share him with. Raised in Utah by practicing polygamists, Christine knew her life was less than normal, but that didn’t stop her from loving the full house of her childhood any less.

Becoming Kody Brown’s third wife in 1994, Christine finally found the big, happy family she had hoped for. When TLC’s hit show Sister Wives premiered in 2010, Christine knew it was her chance to shine a light on the brighter side of polygamy—the helping hands, the lively discussions, and their unmatched devotion to each other. But the cameras also revealed a much darker truth.

Now, in this candid tell-all, Christine shares for the first time the journey that led her away from polygamy and the bold path she is carving to live apart from all she has ever known. Moving, genuine, and insightful, this is a uniquely powerful tour de force of Christine’s journey toward and beyond her time in the spotlight as a sister wife.

Absolutely Beautiful 💕memoir, truly and enlightened heartfelt story of faith, courage, tenacity. Helps enforce the values of family but growing into becoming a strong, confident, independent mother, wife & friend. A journey that will help the readers understand the courage it took for the choices that Christine made, ties up all the loose ends from the show. Christine, thank you for sharing your message with the world & the personal intimate moments. Some made me laugh, others I cried with you. Love her, loved the book!
Christine has inspired me to set boundaries and seek love I deserve for years now. Her strength and wisdom…and humor…have been a beacon of hope for me. I read this book in one day, and am now listening to her read it on Audible to process it all again, a bit slower. She does a great job reading it by the way.Her authenticity and vulnerability in telling her story are admirable and captivating. I love her insights on being a mom, and appreciate the choices she’s made to parent in a way that aligned with her soul’s purpose. She really pours her heart out on every page. Also, shout out to women’s advocacy and perimenopause awareness! It’s a very entertaining read with lots of wit, wisdom, humor, and transparency. Wishing her all the success with this book! Confident it will reach many women, and be an immense comfort and encouragement ❤️

    A good read for fans
I’ve been a fan of Sister Wives from the beginning and have watched this family’s story unfold, and crumble, throughout the years. Of course, I love Christine- her bubbly personality and positive, happy attitude…as well as her honesty. Us fans have always known there was another side to the picture perfect storyline (at least in the beginning) that was shown on tv, so when this book was announced, I was so excited- finally we’d get a glimpse into the realities of what was really going on, because we all had our assumptions. While Christine did offer several surprises and shared in depth family and religious background, for the most part, nothing was new. It followed the same timeline as the tv series, and while I appreciated Christine’s general perspective of many of the situations and events, it felt a bit repetitive and I wish there had been more. The book offers a positive & empowering feel, which I feel is more related Christine’s own self awareness and reflection…maybe even reassurance, as she continues to navigate her thoughts and emotions over her past. Also, to note, while I had originally ordered the book, there was an issue with delivery, so I instead purchased the audio…which I am glad to have done so. I believe hearing Christine’s voice and emotion through her stories added a great deal to the memoire. Like others have mentioned, the writing is a bit messy and not fine tuned. Listening to the audio was more as if she had been causally sitting with me, sharing her story. Had I purchased and read the book myself, I fear I may have gotten far less out of it and been further disappointed. Overall, a good read for fans.

    very entertaining
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised to find her writing to be like talking to her in person. She is witty, serious, touching and very informative about her religious upbringing. She is very open minded and thoughtful about not offending anyone. This is herexperiences .

    So Insightful and Touching
Loved this book. Could hardly stop reading once I downloaded it. Christine tells her story with such poignancy. She doesn’t stoop to throwing others under the bus, even though some deserved it. It was her story about self-reflection and self-improvement that eventually led her to the life she deserved. Bravo, Christine!

    Christine is the prettiest
Loved it. I love how she wrote it like she speaks. I could hear her saying it as I read. Loved her vulnerability. Some we knew from the show but she went deeper and we got the full story. It all makes way more sense now. Kody is such a narcissist, more than I even realized. Christine, if you are reading this, I have always thought you were and are the prettiest sister wife. I felt like she was very kind to Kody overall. I feel like he really did a number on the kid’s mental health and one child who took it particularly hard ended his own life. She didn’t place blame on Kody at all and I really feel like he played a part in that. I had hoped Kody would get better after that happened and try to build bridges with all his kids, but it didn’t sound like he got better. I am so happy Christine found love. She truly deserves it.

    Honest, vulnerable, resilient and heartwarming!
This book was such a great read- I couldn’t put it down! I’ve watched the show from the beginning and Christine was always my favorite, and I’ve often thought if we knew each other in real life we’d be besties. Reading this book gave insights into the behind the scenes emotional roller coaster that was true life.Seeing how much Christine loves her children, how much she tried for SO long to better herself, her marriage to Kody and how she ultimately learned how to advocate for herself, her freedom, and her life is nothing short of heartwarming goodness. Getting a first hand glance of her transformation is inspiring! It makes me like her that much more and how I can see myself through part of her journey. Surviving a narcissist is hard!! But I’m so so glad she did! I’m so glad she got her fairytale with David. No one deserves the happiness and pure joy more than her! Worth the read, especially if you’ve ever found yourself in a place where you’re made to be small and not seen by others. Now Christine, we see you. I hope others can find themselves too as they read this book.

Christine Brown Woolley’s Sister Wife is a powerful and deeply moving memoir that goes far beyond the world of reality television. From the very first page, Christine’s voice is raw, authentic, and unflinchingly honest. She doesn’t just recount the events of her life, she invites readers into the emotional journey of finding her own worth, reclaiming her independence, and redefining what family and faith mean on her own terms. What I loved most is how Christine balances vulnerability with strength. She speaks candidly about the difficulties of plural marriage and the personal cost of putting others first for so long, yet she never writes from a place of bitterness. Instead, her story radiates resilience, hope, and the courage it takes to build a new future after decades of sacrifice. For fans of Sister Wives, the book offers fresh insights and behind the scenes moments, but it’s not just for viewers of the show. Anyone who has struggled with self doubt, wrestled with faith, or faced the daunting task of starting over will find wisdom and inspiration here.In the end, Sister Wife isn’t just Christine’s story, it’s a reminder to all of us that it’s never too late to choose happiness and live authentically.

Sadly Christine gives very little of her real self, or even her real story in this book. It mainly tells (rehashes) what most readers will already know from watching TLCs Sister Wives. So much is left unexplained just like in the TV show. The same events covered in the show are covered in this book, the same snippets of conversation, the same feelings. There is very little that is new. What’s hidden is still hidden. It’s not that I wanted the writer to “dish the dirt” but I did want a deeper understanding of her experiences rather than them being glossed over and more honesty, less telling, more showing. There is too much holding back and a lack of courage permeating this book, (and yet I suspect the writer is in actuality a very courageous person) so, whether this is because of contracts with TLC or fear of hurting other ex family members or a fear of losing her fan base I don’t know. But rather than freely telling her story (and it’s a fascinating one to tell) there is a very loud consciousness of the writer being careful. Sadly this book is exactly what I expected it to be – an accompaniment to the show and not something breaking new ground and standing on its own two feet. The show is a fascinating anthropological study of a patriarchal polygamous family that has fallen apart with most if not all members including the children choosing to no longer be polygamous. Over many years the veneer of “we all love each other” that viewers long suspected was just a veneer cracked in spectacular ways, but there is a lack of serious questioning about the impacts of these religious choices on the children and women that goes beyond the fake positives of lots of siblings and mums to choose between. Maybe one day, after the show is finished which will be soon, Christine will have another crack and tell us what it’s really like to grow up and live in and leave this fundamental religion. What it’s really like to live your life in front of a tv crew – was the financial pay off worth it. What was the real impact on the kids who had no choice to live this way.

This book is written with honesty and offers great insight. I hope this can be an inspiration to others who may be in situations where their cultural and spiritual beliefs don’t allow them to leave a spouse.

I would give this book 0 stars if I could. It is a disjointed rehash of the show with next to no new information or insights.
