Customers say
Customers find these grow lights to be of good quality, bright, and perfect for seed starting, with one customer noting they mimic sunlight very well. They are easy to set up and work well for indoor seed starting. The functionality and build quality receive mixed reviews – while some say they work well and are well-built, others report issues with bulbs stopping working and receiving broken units. Moreover, the lifespan is concerning, with customers reporting bulbs burning out after a few weeks and fixtures melting after 4 months. Value for money also gets mixed feedback, with some finding it great while others say it’s not worth the cost.

UPDATE BELOW: The tube sockets will be the true test over time.
Be sure you have a sturdy stand to hang this from because its heavy but appears well made. The test will be in how well the tube sockets hold up. NOTE: I BOUGHT 6 OF THE COMPETITORS lighter weight 4 bulb 4ft grow lights that has the curved shiny reflectors. The competitor lights were lighter weight, almost flimsy and it turns out those tube sockets were absolute garbage. They flexed and caught up internally when you slid the fluorescent tube pins into the slot and attempted to rotate the tube to lock and engage the bulb. You could hear them creak and pop then stop or not turn at all. I got two year’s use out of those fixtures before I had to throw them out at about a $100 a fixture. I’M HOPING THIS VIVOSUN brand is better made. These sockets felt a little sturdier when I inserted the pins and they rotated smoothly when I locked in the tubes. Time will tell. Otherwise the tubes are bright, the two power switch feature allows you to turn off half of the tubes if you don’t need all 4 on at a time. The housing for the fixture is a solid rectangular metal case with a bright reflector and the hangers are sturdy and pre-attached so you have no assembly out of the box. The T5 tubes come well packed in a separate insulated heavy shipping tube (included in the box) so you just install the tubes and hang. The overall shipping carton is appropriately heavy enough for the product contained. Even when UPS managed to scrape a small divot in the side it didn’t puncture through. I opened this up and ran a test light just to be sure it wasn’t damaged in shipment. I’ll put it in actual use when my last two garbage fixtures completely fail. It shouldn’t be long. Incidentally for replacement fluorescent grow light tubes, Vivosun is a good reliable grow lamp brand. The 6500k T5 Vivosun fluorescent grow light tubes last 10-12 months when used on a timer daily for 16 hrs a day, year around. I’ve been using them mostly for garden seed starts in spring but run two fixtures year around for an indoor succulent garden. They provide the optimal light wavelength for beautiful coloring in succulents with no etolation (leggy thinning). The truest test for balanced intensity and wavelength is growing light-hungry succulents. Vivosun light bulbs and tubes pass the test. Buying the 5 tube pack is the most economical if you run a lot of fixtures in spring.UPDATE: I finally put this fixture in service late mid September. All 4 lamps lit well. It was very easy to hang. 11 days after start up one socket quit. I contacted VIVOSUN via email on their website and explained the problem. They were EXCELLENT! Their customer service responded within three days; were friendly and asked for the details of the purchase. I scanned my Amazon receipt over to them and within 24hrs they issued a full refund on my VISA for the purchase, tax included. I reordered a replacement. I think it was just a one-off that the one socket failed the other three still work. I would have mailed it back to them if they asked but no, they were good with just issuing a full refund so I took the refund and have a new one reordered, the same model. Customer service is everything. I would recommend not contacting the vendor that sold the product and attempt to contact the manufacturing company directly if they have a service dept. Stick with whatever facts you have and see if they will replace the defective item.

This is a great light!
So far I have purchased three of the 4-foot, 4-bulb fixtures.I have a lot of house plants, and during the summer they all go out on the porch. Also, during the summer, I tend to acquire even more plants that just go on the porch, but then winter comes and they all have to come inside and I don’t have good places for them all.We have a lot of windows, but only some get good light during the winter, and there’s only so much space in front of them, so I have to be creative about where all these plants go and how to get them enough light to keep them alive. These VIVOSUN lights have turned out to be perfect. The fixtures and bulbs all came well-packaged – no dents, no broken bulbs. The bulbs were wrapped in bubble wrap inside a thick tube. I installed the bulbs easily, and hung the lights on various shelves and frames I have around the house for my plants. I really like the fact that these lights have two switches – one switch controls the center two bulbs, and one controls the outside two bulbs. In my photos, only the outside two bulbs are currently on in each fixture because that room is fairly bright in the fall, but as the days get shorter and darker I’ll turn on the center bulbs as well.I have the lights connected to smart outlets in my house, and I programmed a routine to turn them on and off each day. The outlets are reporting about 54 watts per bulb (108 watts per pair of bulbs, 216 watts per fixture,) which is what the product description says. They put off some gentle warmth, but the fixtures are not hot to the touch. As an aside, I’ve been bringing in green tomatoes from my garden that won’t ripen because it’s cold out, and I’ve actually been able to ripen them under these lights, which is pretty cool. The color temperature of the bulbs is absolutely perfect for my plants. There’s actually a little lettuce that we planted when we installed the lights a few weeks ago that has become quite large in its time under the lights, so I know that these will be great for starting seeds in the spring as well. We’re still moving plants around inside the house, but I’ll probably need to buy one or two more of these fixtures, which I will happily do when I’m ready. Highly recommended.

All bulbs wonât reliably be on at the same time.
I bought this light for my greenhouse because the ones Iâve been using are no longer available. This light worked well for about 2 weeks. Then I noticed some bulbs would burn but others were dim or off. Not always the same bulbs. The is a new light purchased in March 2024. Right now only one bulb is burning. I have replaced two of the bulbs but canât count on this light to be reliable with all four bulbs. Iâve used lights like this for a long time. The bulbs are secure. They should not be burnt out. My 3 other light fixtures are working fine. I would not purchase this light fixture again.

Excellent light. Excellent for starting plants in soil and for hanging over a large aquarium. Better than LED because I can purchase replacement bulbs, bonus.
