Is this device wireless? Do I need to install the wire?
No, it is a wired device. You’ll need to install the power cord and connect the rear camera for it to work. We provide a video guide to help you install the entire dashcam set in just a few minutes.
Do I need to keep the dashcam’s Wi-Fi connected for it to record?
No. The Q7 dashcam starts recording automatically when you start your engine. We recommend connecting the dashcam’s Wi-Fi and app only when you want to view the recorded videos on your phone.
Can I connect to the dashcam’s Wi-Fi when I’m away from the car?
No. Like all dashcam Wi-Fi systems on the market, it has a limited range (about 5–7 meters). You’ll need to be close to the car to connect.
Do I need to install the hardwire kit to enable 24/7 parking mode?
Yes. The hardwire kit is required for 24/7 parking monitoring. It is sold separately (ASIN: B0DHJNRPB9).
【4K Front + 4K Rear (2160p) Recording】Both channels capture real 4K (3840*2160p) AND clearer license plates and road signs—sharper than the common 4K + 1080p mix. The 170° wide view and 3.18″ IPS screen help you see more and record more while driving or parked.
【Fastest Wi-Fi 6 (5 GHz) App + GPS】Fast in-app previews/downloads at up to 20 MB/s with Wi-Fi 6 (5 GHz) in the IIWEY App. Built-in GPS adds speed & route data you can review in the app or on your PC.
【Dual STARVIS + HDR Night Vision】2nd-gen STARVIS sensors with f/1.6 lenses on both 4K cams gather more light, dual-channel HDR reduces glare and keeps details visible even in low-light and night scenes.
【24/7 Parking Surveillance (Battery-Safe)】Pair with a hardwire kit (ASIN: B0DHJNRPB9, sold separately) to enable Time-Lapse continuous monitoring or Collision/Motion-Detection event clips when parked. Built-in low-voltage protection helps safeguard your car battery.
【128GB Card Included | Loop & Lock】Ready to use with a 128GB microSD. Loop recording overwrites the oldest files, while the G-sensor auto-locks impact footage to a protected folder for evidence.
【18-Month Warranty & Friendly Support】Every IIWEY dash cam comes with 18 months of customer support. Need help? Our team is just a message away through Amazon—we’re here to make sure you’re taken care of.

There’s a lot to like).I love that the rear camera is both powered and communicated with a single USB-C cable from the main unit. I’m so glad to not have to use (somewhat) non-standard cables to get that job done. It makes the install much more versatile for future modification (read as – swapping out main unit or rear camera or both without running a new cable through the head-liner).Speaking of modification, I think I’ll insert my nit-pick here: This device can’t communicate with a USB-PD, so if you plug it in to a USB-PD power source, it gets absolutely no power. Now, most things say that you have to use their power supply (as does this – but did it say that in the ad before I bought it? No, I don’t think so), but it’s only rarely nowadays that you really have to. On this device, you must use an old-fashioned USB-A power output. Why is that important to me? Because I already had a cable with a USB-C terminal installed up through the dash, A-pillar, head-liner, and out at the rearview mirror that I wanted to use, and it’s wired into a USB-PD power supply. So, it doesn’t work for this unit. Could I change the power supply that I have hard-wired inside the dash to a USB-A? Sure I could. At the investment of some amount of time and money that I would have preferred not to expend. A different dash cam might be an easier solution for me, quite frankly. So, to carry on with what I love – the suction cup mount is super strong. Companies are getting better and better with their materials and design for this. In the old days they didn’t really work so great. Combined with the fact that this device isn’t very heavy, the entire assembly stays on the windshield very reliably. This is a small thing, but the device was packaged by the manufacturer really well. Such quality and care in the packaging gave me a warm fuzzy that the device was perhaps manufactured with the same quality and care. All of the cables that came with it are heavy-duty and well-made.There are four metal contacts between the mount and the device. Why? What are they for? I’ve included a picture of those contacts. Turns out, the GPS antenna is in the windshield mount. Don’t break or lose it.I also dropped in a picture of the screen, which I think has great resolution. It’s really reflective, though, which you can also see in this picture. I think that all auto products should have mat-surface screens. If this device stays in my car for any length of time, I’ll add a mat screen protector to it to cut down on the glare. So, all-in-all, it’s a pretty great unit. If you can live with the USB-A power source kerfuffle, then maybe this is the dash cam for you. Only almost recommended – even with a five-star rating.
But unfortunately, there’s also something that I don’t like. More about that nit-pick later. This dash cam really does have a lot of great features. I like the built-in GPS that records where events occurred. While visual indications might be sufficient under normal circumstances, it’s possible that an incident at night or in the middle of nowhere with no real landmarks in sight could present a problem. The GPS provides proof-positive of where an event occurred.I like the big bright screen on this device. I also like that the indicia for the control buttons along the bottom of the unit are ever-present at the rear of the device, so that you can quickly see what button does what, without craning your head around to view the buttons on the bottom (because that’s not dangerous at all

Clear Video and Easy Setup â Great Dash Cam for Daily Driving
I added this dash cam to our vehicle for extra peace of mind, and itâs been impressive so far. The front camera records in 4K with a wide 170-degree field of view, and the STARVIS sensor really does help at night, license plates and street signs stay clear even in low light. The rear camera records in 1080p with a 140-degree view, which gives a reliable wide-angle picture of traffic behind without distortion.Installation was straightforward. The included cables are long enough to route cleanly around the windshield and trim, and the suction mount keeps the front camera secure without wobbling, though an adhesive mount is also included if you prefer a more permanent setup. Once powered, it boots quickly, and recording starts automatically with the ignition. The menus are simple to navigate, and all the settings are clearly labeled.Performance has been consistently reliable. The footage is sharp in the day, colors look natural, and motion is smooth without skipping. At night, the STARVIS sensor captures details like license plates and road markings that cheaper sensors often blur. Overheated cabins havenât caused freezes or shutdowns, and the cam works properly even on cold mornings. Files are saved in H.265 format, which keeps quality high while saving space on the memory card. It supports cards up to 256GB, enough for extended trips before looping.Playback is smooth both on the device screen and when pulling files to a computer or phone. The parking mode adds extra security when the car is unattended, detecting motion and saving clips, though it does draw on the battery if left active too long without a hardwire kit.Durability looks promising. The build feels solid, the suction mount hasnât slipped after weeks of use, and the camera body hasnât shown signs of overheating, cracking, or loose connections. The finish wipes clean easily, and the screen is bright enough to see even in daylight.Limitations: the rear camera is lower resolution than the front, so fine details at a distance arenât as sharp. But it still gives a wide, dependable view for everyday driving.Overall, this dash cam is a solid upgrade. The combination of sharp 4K recording, clear night vision, easy installation, and dependable performance makes it an excellent choice for anyone who wants reliable protection and peace of mind on the road.

Excellent car-camera system that is feature-rich and installs easily in minutes.
This is one of the nicest car-camera systems Iâve tested. There are no cheap components here, with each piece feeling solidly built. You have a front camera, which is powered by a cigarette lighter adapter. This adapter has a USB-A port so that you can still charge your phone though it. The rear camera in turn is powered by the front camera, and thereâs an included length of cable that you must run between the two, along with a tool to help you hide the cable under your carâs interior paneling. I skipped installation of the rear camera for now. The rear camera mounts using an adhesive pad so that you can place it above or onto your rear window. The front camera mounts using a suction cup placed on the interior of windshield.I like the front camera has icons below the display, which correspond to buttons on the bottom of the camera. This way you know which button is the menu and which does a quick image or video capture. The front camera also has a slot for a microSD card with 128GB of memory. The feed loops and is erased unless an impact is detected or you manually save a segment of video. You can either access the video by transferring the SD card to a computer or go the simple route and create a Wi-Fi connection to the camera with your phone. The menu is very intuitive to navigate, and I was able to immediately change some settings without reading the manual. For instance, I prefer front cameras to go into screen saver mode, which is not the default with this camera. A few clicks later I had set the screen to turn off after 60 seconds of being powered on. It was very easy. This is an extremely nice camera system for your car. Itâs well-made, has tons of features and is very easy to set up and use. I highly recommend this, as itâs probably the best car camera system Iâve used.
