Good drill drivers
I currently have 13 drill drivers in service in my shop and garage, and 4 of them are these Makita’s, or the previous model. So that probably tells you something about whether I like them. They charge quickly and provide reasonable torque. They fit well in my hand. I’m not a big guy, about 5’8″, and these are perfect. Observations: I dropped one of these drill drivers off a 5′ ladder and it was dead — the light came on but not the drill. I took it apart far enough to know there is no way to access the innards for diagnosis. I also have another on which the chuck loosens as you drill, which is weird and annoying. Overall though, these Makita’s have provided, in some cases, decades of service and I think they are worth a look.

Great tools. Don’t be fooled by the battery bull hockey.
These drills and drivers are fantastic. I own a few sets. I finally wore one out, (drill), after many years. Bought the tool only, as I have a large stock of batteries. (Note here that the batteries have not changed in 10+years. Kudos to Makita!) But listen: Just ignore the nonsense warnings about third-party batteries. They work every bit as well, and last every bit as long as Makita batteries for 1/3 the price

Bare drill purchased as a replacement.
I bought this drill as a replacement for an old Makita drill that had given me good service. Works well so far and looks as if it will give me quality service.

Motor burned up!
This thing is crap! It burned up completely after 4 months of use! It literally sounded like it was in fire and smoked like a chimney! The dewalt drill i was alternating it with had no issues at all and it was much older!!!

great step up from their starter drill
had their 1/4 shank quick release drill for years, accidentally submerged it in water, bought this one to replace, nice to have the flexibility of the adjustable chuck. This one is great and has good torque, have used it for drilling wood as well as brass brushes for cleaning rusty pipe threads. And my old makita drill came back to life after a couple weeks of sitting/drying despite being submerged! great brand
