Great outdoor camera â easy setup, solar powered, and crystal-clear video
This Arlo outdoor camera has been a fantastic addition to my setup. I installed it on the fence in my backyard, and it took less than five minutes â super easy and straightforward. The solar battery is a huge plus; it keeps the camera charged at all times, so I donât have to worry about running out of power or constantly recharging it.The wide-angle lens is one of my favorite features â it lets me see the entire backyard clearly, and the video quality is excellent, even at night. The night vision is really impressive; I can still see everything clearly, even in low light. The motion detection works exactly as it should â it only records when movement is detected, which saves storage and battery life.I use it mostly to check on my dogs when theyâre outside, but it would also be perfect for monitoring a front door or driveway to keep an eye on deliveries or visitors. Itâs reliable, well-built, and fits seamlessly with the rest of my Arlo system. Iâm planning to expand with more indoor and outdoor units â itâs that good. Highly recommend if youâre looking for a quality, worry-free security option!

Revised review. Dropped from 3 stars to 1.Camera with solar panel in full sunlight will not maintain a charge and has quit working now. Arlo support says Im not eligible for live support. My previous Arlo cameras came with lifetime recording and support. This one doesn’t. It’s a monthly fee to record. As a decade Ling Arlo user, I’m very disappointed. I will now have to find a way to plug this camera in to a power source as the solar panel is inadequate to maintain a charge. Total waste of my money.Original review. Camera itself works fine and was easy to set up. However, after 5 hours in full sun, the battery has not charged and remains at 65%. I had charged it to 100% before installing 2 days ago.

Great replacement for Arlo Pro cameras
First, I live in south-central Texas.I bought this to replace an Arlo Pro cameras Iâve had for several years. Rain finally got inside of one and did it in.Was not fond of replacing the battery every 6-8 weeks but I liked how the camera worked (I understand how IR so-called motion detectors work. They do NOT detect motion but detect temperature differences.)New camera does not have replaceable battery. So I bought the one that includes a solar panel. I did read and understand itâs small and only a trickle charger.I charged the camera and followed instructions to set it up. Then connected the solar panel to it.The field of view is wider than the Arlo Pro cameras I had, so thatâs a big improvement. I believe itâs about 130*.Also, I guess my old cameras detection had been shrinking. The new camera detects motion at 90 feet distant like my Pro used to.As for the solar charger, it seems to work in that it charges the battery back to 99-100% with full sunny days. I believe the key is to start with a fully charged battery and make certain the solar panel is about a 45* angle and facing south. It plainly states in the solar panels docs (not includedâ¦you need to visit the Arlo web site) that itâs a TRICKLE charger. Itâs not meant to charge a dead or severely depleted battery.If your camera sees a large battery drain they make & sell a larger solar panel that should work.Overall Iâm very pleased with it. So much that Iâve ordered three more to replace my old Arlo Pro cameras. I just hope they last as long.One note- these cameras are 2K and have higher resolution so they use more Wi-Fi/internet data. Be aware of that if youâre on a metered internet connection like I am (rural).

Set up was easy and camera is clear and works great. The solar panel, on the other hand, is too small to keep the camera charged. I had this pointed directly at the sun and it could not keep it charged.

I am absolutely impressed with the Arlo Essential Security Camera 2K (2nd Gen)! It was super easy to set up. The 2K video quality is crystal clear, and I love how I can keep an eye on my street at all times. Whether itâs day or night, the color night vision and wide-angle view ensure I donât miss a thing.I also love that thereâs audio communication, which is handy for communicating with delivery drivers. And I love the motion detection with real-time notificationsâI feel so much more at ease knowing that Iâll be instantly notified if anything unusual happens at home. This is important to me since I have a child.
