Slippery!
I needed a mat to keep my hair styler from sliding off my slick countertops. This was just as slippery as the granite. I have many items from OXO, but this one is a fail in my opinion.

My wife is a versatile stylist with lots of training and tools. She’s big on having a work station that’s ergonomic and efficient, so that means that only the tools (hot or otherwise) that are being used on the client should be in the space. Likewise, when a tool won’t be used anymore for a client, it’s turned off and stowed – or at least that would be the process if it were safe to do so. That’s where the OXO Good Grips Hot Styling Tool Mat (Lavender) comes in. I primarily know OXO from kitchen tools, but this product is a logical step from that. The mat is soft, has a closure that is easy to use and looks like it will be durable, and the mat allows hot tools to be stowed before they’ve cooled all the way. Excellent! Recommended

It’s Now Easy To Put Your Hot Hair Tools Away
Recently, I’ve been spending a lot more time and money on my hair. Between products, visits to the salon, and hot tools, the dollars go quickly. Since our bathroom is small, I have to store my hot tools in the linen closet and I am wary of putting hot tools in there. I thought this tool wrap might be the very thing I needed, so when I saw it from Vine, I requested it and here we are. This review is for: OXO Good Grips Hot Styling Tool Mat – LavenderThis product arrived safely and undamaged. This product did turn out to be the very thing I was looking for. I am mostly using it for my hair dryer, but I have also used it with my curling iron a few times. No matter which tool I am using it for, this wrap is great.It is made of a rubbery feeling silicone. It’s super bendable and wraps easily around both my dryer and my cooling iron. There is a long strap to wrap around the mat, once it’s wrapped around your tool. This makes it easy to use no matter the size of what you’re wrapping. There is a silicone button at the end of the strap so that you can easily button it up and the wrap stays tight around the tool.I can now feel more safe about storing away my hot tools. I don’t need to worry about anything in that closet catching fire because I put it away still hot. I’m thinking about ordering another one for those days that I use both hot tools. At the current asking price of $12.99, it would not be an expensive endeavor to do so. I am very, very happy with this wrapping mat.

This product states it is grey but it is definitely purple. I purchased the grey and not lavender so they may have sent the wrong one. Good quality tho

good for travel, but great for home!
My vanity surface is wood. I have struggled for years to keep it from getting burn marks from my styling tools. I have tried different holders out there for the flat iron and curling iron, but they dont stand up right, and have ended up melting in spots. This mat is perfect for protecting the surface, but allowing for full functionality of the tool. No more making sure you place it perfectly in the holder so it doesnt tip over. The added bonus of the strap so you can roll up your tool and secure the mat around everything is great. Theres different textures on both sides, so no matter your need, one or the other should work.
