Works well, but doesn’t particularly stand out for the price
I received this product free, at a time when it listed at $14.99. I’d rate it 4.5 stars if I could. It works well, but maybe not any better than the competition, and it’s priced similarly as well. It’s strongest positive in my view is the esthetics. I want a remote that looks like a wall switch, and while this is obviously not a wired wall switch, it does look nice mounted on the wall.Plusses:• It works, from a great distance. I got as far away as i could, down a long hall and around a corner, and the remote still switched the light.• The magnetic mount will allow it to be either a handheld remote or wall mounted, which is elegant and useful. You can easily remove the key ring hardware if you primarily want a wall switch.• It purportedly is possible to use one remote with multiple receivers (turn on all the lamps in a room with a single switch) or one receiver with multiple remotes (simulate a 3-way wall switch). But note the poor instructions under the “negatives”.Neutral / Average• It is grounded, and accepts a grounded plug. This is good, but pretty routine now.• It’s rated for 10amps, or 1250 watts. That’s also pretty typical but should be fine for almost any expected use.• The receiver plug is quite large and will probably block the adjacent outlet, wherever you plug it in. I’m calling this “neutral” rather than negative only because most remote plugs I can find are the same. It would be nice if they could make them narrower.* According to the manual, the receiver (wall plug) will stay off if the outlet loses power. If your reason for wanting a remote switch is to be able to switch something in an inaccessible location, and your power goes off very often, this could be a deal killer. Unfortunately, this seems to be normal for these devices and is even pitched as “energy saving”. I wish I could find one that would come back on when the power returns.Negatives:• The manual is poorly written and not very detailed. Particularly the pairing instructions, which are very confusing. I can only imagine wanting to un-pair if you wanted to add more receivers or remotes. But if you should want to, I can provide better instructions:To Un-Pair: Plug the receiver (wall plug) into an outlet and plug something into it to use as a test device. The receiver has a lighted “on/off” button, which if pressed slowly will power the test device on and off. To unpair, instead push this button 8 times in rapid succession (which will not turn the test device on/off). On the 8th press, the light will begin blinking rapidly for a few seconds. When the blinking stops, the remote is unpaired. Pressing the remote will no longer turn the device on.To Re-Pair: Press the on/off button 2 times rapidly. The light will begin blinking. While it is blinking, press the remote button, and the remote is re-paired.BUT there’s no further instructions for pairing multiple remotes to one receiver, or multiple receivers to one remote. One might guess that it’s just a repetition of the instructions for pairing one, but I could not test this without having more remotes or receivers myself.

A lot of features for the price, looks nice on the wall, and operates perfectly
The Pros: This is the first remote switch that I’ve come across where the transmitter magnetically binds to a wall plate. In other words, there’s a 4.5 X 2.75 inch white plastic plate that you can attach to your wall either by included double sided tape, or included mounting screws. The transmitter magnetically binds to a recess in the wall plate, giving you the look of a traditional wall switch. Then of course if you want to take the transmitter with you, you simply give it a slight tug, and it’s in your hand. The working distance in the instructions says up to 100 feet. I don’t truly know the exact distance it will fail at, because I went to the furthest room in my house, which I’d say is 40 feet and through multiple walls, and yet it still turned on the box fan I had plugged into it. Impressive.Luckily the transmitter comes pre paired with the outlet receiver right out of the box.I have a set of grow lights I use to start tomatoes and herbs. Of course the outlet is on the wall BELOW my growing table. Since the grow lights have no on/off switch, it’s a pain to plug in and unplug the grow lights every morning and evening. This simple device fixes that perfectly. Now, I simply walk into the garage, push the transmitter that is nestled into the wall plate I secured on the wall of the garage and “bingo’ my lights are on. Very nice.Cons: I only have two, which should really just be one for now. First off, the receiver that you plug into your wall outlet is large. 99 percent of home outlets have two plug ports. This is So large that if you have anything larger than normal of plugs in the second outlet, they hit. That said, I had no issue plugging the receiver and a box fan plug into the outlet, they both fit.If somehow I need to ever pair the transmitter to the receiver, the instructions are less than ideal.Other than the receiver being a bit large, this thing works well, the wall part gives you a finished modern look and I think it’s a good value for the price. I wouldn’t say it’s a bargain, but for 15 bucks, it solves me from having to crawl under my grow table twice a day. That is certainly worth the price.

    I’m too lazy!
Remote switches for outlets! What a smart invention!Or maybe I’m just getting lazy.Either way, this is a good idea!Keep in mind that this only controls one plug in a two plug outlet, but there’s no rule against plugging in a six outlet surge projector into that one plug and turning multiple things on and off all at once!I have Christmas light ideas! The switch seems to be pretty good quality and functions well. It’s cheap and cheerful and maybe it might even be Christmas gift ideas.Highly recommended.

Well made switch system that works great
The WILAWELS Remote Outlet Switch arrived well packaged and came with mounting hardware, an included battery, and a manual. The switch system is well manufactured and worked right out of the box. There are two ways to activate the switch – either by remote or by direct button. Interestingly, using the direct button has a slight delay of about a second while using the remote switch is almost instantaneous.

    Works great on our lamp
We use this remote control outlet in our baby’s room for a small lamp, and it has been really handy during nighttime routines. Instead of fumbling around in the dark or trying not to wake the baby, we can just click the remote and turn the light on or off. The remote works every time, even from across the room, and the magnetic mount makes it easy to keep track of. My only complaint is the size of the plug-in piece—it’s a little bulky, so you can’t fit much else in the second outlet and it would take up a lot of space on a power strip. Still, for the convenience it gives us, it’s been well worth it.
