Great compostable trash bag
Since our state banned plastic bags I’d been slowly going through my accumulated grocery bags in my small trash cans. Banning them does nothing for people that refuse to put icky stuff into an empty can and then into a trash truck that then dumps the trash into a landfill…so we just buy more. I liked that these were compostable though and stretchy. They fit great on my bathroom can and I don’t have to replace them every week-just consolidate with other trash on most weeks and then pull these out when I can’t do that. Perfect size. Will continue to buy these since I do conserve as best I can.

***UPDATE (4/14/23) The seller sent a replacement from their new supplier and the manufacturing defects arenât present in the new bags. So, Iâm updating my review to 4 stars. Itâs a great compostable bag, quite strong, perhaps a little narrow at the top but stays intact even if stretched a bit. Hoping the new quality standards are here to stay! ***(Original review below)The only reason Iâm not giving 1 star is that these bags used to be really good. Weâve been using these for several months now and they were a great product to start. (As great as a premium product to enable throwing things away could be, at least.) However, a couple months ago they appeared to change their manufacturing process and the bags are not what they used to be. The material color changed (from lighter green to a darker green), feels thinner, the mouth of the bag is tighter (so has to be stretched over our food waste bin more aggressively to fit). Worst of all, more than half the bags in multiple recent shipments have had giant gashes in their sides and bottoms that make them completely useless. (Iâve attached photos of multiple bags to illustrate the kinds of apparently random holes/gashes appearing in the material straight off the roll.) So, not only am I paying a premium for bags that have suffered from a serious reduction in manufacturing quality, but Iâm also having to throw away more than half the bags in each shipment from a critical defect. I waited a couple shipments after initially noticing the issue to see if the first instance was a fluke, but these flaws/defects have shown up every shipment since. Disappointed, and will be switching brands/products going forward.

I was very unhappy with these bags at first, stating: Only about every third one is usable. The others are in shreds, vertically, as you attempt to take them off the roll. Will not buy again.After the first dozen or so bags they have been perfect. Larger than average and after those first few nary a problem. I WILL buy this brand again.

Although it degrades, it definitely doesn’t compost
I bought these so that I could just throw my compostable food scraps into a bag and toss the whole thing into my composter. Not so much. Although the bags start to disintegrate as soon as you start putting food scraps into them (and if you’re filling the bag over the course of a week, let’s say, by the time it’s full, if you pull the bag out of its container, the bottom will burst), shreds of the bags remain in the composter MORE THAN A FULL YEAR LATER. The mixture in my composter has been ready to use in the garden for months already – but only if I sort through it and remove dozens upon dozens of shreds of these bags – PLASTIC – still quite intact, in the mix. So this is not that solution I was looking for, and I’m going to just start using kraft paper grocery bags in my kitchen composting pail.
