These bulbs are an excellent replacement for their equivalent 40w halogen bulbs. I had 48 bulbs that I wanted to replace for multiple reasons. The halogens were yellowish, not exceptionally bright, consumed 1,920 watts and created a lot of heat. Moreover, the bulbs would get so hot after just a few seconds that touching one for a moment would immediately cause blistering burns. So first, let’s look at energy consumption. At 5w a piece, swapping out the halogens with these LEDs reduced my wattage from 1,920w to 240w. One 40w halogen is equivalent to 8 of these LEDs. BUT that was not the selling point for me. I donât care how much Iâd save in wattage if the light given off made me appear washed out and bluish. The reason I like these bulbs is because 4000K is an excellent middle ground between the bright white 5000K that makes you look bluish and the warm white 3000K that makes you look yellowish. These bulbs are significantly brighter than the halogens and the color of the light is pleasing to the eye. Itâs not harsh, blue or yellow. When swapping them, I had trouble inserting a few bulbs into the sockets but using needle nose pliers to slightly adjust the pins did the trick. Iâd also like to mention the customer service I received from the seller. For whatever reason, Amazon thinks itâs a good idea to ship bulbs in a very thin bag with no packing or bubble wrap. I disagree. I think light bulbs should be sent in a box with packing but what do I know. Regardless, when I received my order, the boxes were crushed, and multiple bulbs were damaged. I contacted Amazon but they would not replace the damaged bulbs. I didnât pursue the matter any further. Then one day, approximately 2 weeks after the bulbs were delivered, I received a message from the seller asking me about the bulbs. (They contacted me. I didnât contact them.) I told them about the damaged bulbs and to my surprise and delight, they said they would send me replacements and they did. Wow! That impressed me. It doesnât sound like something I should be impressed by, but nowadays, considering the poor customer service that abounds everywhere, it doesnât take much to stand out. In any event, I received the replacement bulbs and all is fine. Some of my bulbs are hidden behind glass and some are exposed. I actually donât mind the way the exposed ones look. No one has ever commented on them and if perchance someone does go into my guest bathroom and says that they donât like the way the bulbs look, they can do their business in the dark ð. I really cannot think of one negative thing to say about these bulbs. I like the lower wattage, I like the color of the light, I like the brightness, I like that the bulbs are only warm to the touch even after being on for hours, and I am very appreciative that the seller replaced the damaged bulbs. If you are looking for a nice LED to replace your halogens, I strongly recommend these.

Excellent replacement, great light
I ordered these LED bulbs to replace 15 halogen bulbs in a chandelier with a dimmer switch. At full power, the old halogen and new LED bulbs were nearly identical through the frosted bulb covers. When dimmed, the LED bulbs were whiter, but it really didn’t matter since they still looked great and I was replacing all halogen bulbs. The old halogen bulbs were only rated for 2000 hours, which is far less than these LED bulbs. Dimming worked exactly as expected. They’ve been in use for a couple of weeks, no failed bulbs, energy consumption is down, and we shouldn’t have to replace another bulb for years. All the halogen bulbs were replaced with LED for about the price of five halogens. Note the bulb dimensions, they’re slightly taller than a typical halogen, but it didn’t matter for my application. I’d absolutely order them again.

I bought the wrong kind before, and didn’t pay attention to the difference between dimmable and not dimmable. Needless to say my first purchase looked like a strobe light, which is fun for some people, but not while relaxing in a tub.This model solved the problem and looks great!

Great color but need to be replaced every year
Obviously they work and great color which was what I was mostly focused on (the warmth) but they don’t last long – they start burning out after a year, nowhere near 30,000 hours.

They dim very well and are very bright
First, they aren’t 2700K. They fall into the 3000K+ range a bit.However, they dim in both variable dimmer circuits and High/Low lighting appliances (High/Low is achieved by the use of a diode on the low toggle, which effectively provides half of the A/C waveform. That’s called half-wave rectification, and from a 120V A/C source, you get 60 volts every other cycle to the bulb). That last bit is what causes “flicker” in other LEDs you’ll find. These do have a nearly imperceptible flicker, which means the manufacturer took additional precautions to add sufficient capacitance to make up for the drop every cycle. The result is a “Low” that is not really half as bright as the “High” but does produce a dimmer light.So, for example, if you have a microwave oven light that’s one of those High/Low toggles, this will be perfect for that application. Many under counter fixtures use the High/Low toggle as well, and these will work well in them (again, don’t expect half the light). You probably won’t notice the very, very slight flickering (again, nearly imperceptible).If you have an in-line dimmer, these really do a fantastic job of full-spectrum dimming.These DO NOT “warm” as they dim. They weren’t advertised to, either; but it’s a common expectation with bulbs that are being dimmed. There are LED products that produce a warmer glow as they are dimmed. Philips puts out some, for example.I hope this helps clarify not only how the dimming is accomplished in High/Low applications, but also gives a big thumbs-up for these (they’re a bit pricey, compared to their peers, but are worth the extra bit).
