Customers say
Customers find the lawn dethatcher effective at removing dead grass and moss, with one mentioning it pulls up old thatch with ease. The product is lightweight, sturdy, and relatively easy to assemble, offering good value for money. However, the collection bag receives negative feedback for being ridiculously small.

Works Well
Inexpensive, but effective. I’ve used this one a few times, mostly with the scarifier to prepare soil for seeding new grass. The power rake style attachment is a little gentler and I use that in the spring to prepare for overseeding. It’s light, easy to handle and durable so far. Easy to fit into a shed, does not take up much space. The catch bag is pretty useless on all of these, it fills in about 3 minutes, but I’ve had a couple of different brands of these (at a couple different cities) and they are all that way. Just plan on using a manual rake afterwards, its faster than constantly emptying the bag.

Easy to put together and works great.
Got fed up using the rake and getting results but was hating how much effort it took, so I ordered this gadget after watching some videos of it goin to town on the thatch. It tore it up and made piles and piles of dead grass, moss and pine needles that were imbedded in my lawn for years. Love this thing. Not heavy at all, I carried it downstairs myself after putting it together. Feels like it’s made with quality and the two attachments- thatcher and scarifier, feel solid and sturdy. So much better than raking all day and turning around, only to notice how much more u still have left to do. Great value.

Solid performance, nice and light
Works well, except only about half of the material goes in the bag.

Great price
This worked amazingly and it was a great price! We detached our lawn in early spring we were a little nervous because it looked kind of bare but it came in great after a few weeks!

Great product
A little skeptical at first because the price but it really does the job on the lawn. 3 different depths to use to dig up the thatch and loosen up the soil. Didnât use the bag option as it filled up pretty quick. Easy to install and maneuver around the yard. Lightweight but solid

Stronger than expected
Wasnât sure how the quality of the product would be considering the price, but similar to other reviews it works well and is seemingly well built. Itâs lightweight and was easy to put together. The clipping bag was small- too small- but considering how well it worked I didnât bother just picking the piles up after.

Removes Dead Grass with Ease!
I have a large section of my lawn that was damaged from fungus and had died over the summer. Had a similar problem a couple years ago and I manually raked out the dead grass and spread the task over several weeks and it sucked. Saw this Maxlander and thought I would give it a try. What took weeks before took less than an hour. The Maxlander pulled out all the dead grass leaving behind the remaining healthy grass. Used a bag on my lawn mower to collect all the dead grass because the small bag on the Maxlander would have taken forever. Great purchase!

I donât recommend it.
Itâs a nightmare. I wouldnât buy it again. Even for my small front yard ,itâs a pain to use.

Great machine for the job. It has a good price and was delivered promptly.Very powerful for it’s size. Adjustable and does as expected removing thatch and weeds. As others report… the catcher fills quickly, yes, it does, it does a good job of catching and it’s easy to take off and dump as required. Others reported…. they opted to rake up the thatch rather than catching it and dumping. I found my method of dumping more efficient and faster than raking it later. This little worker of a machine will last me for many years.

Does the job as long as you respect its limitations; this light machine is meant for methodical repeated passes to remove sucsessive layers of thatch. At least two passes at right angles is recommended. There is no point in installing the debris bag. Instead release/remove the spring behind the shute cover (mind your fingers-it’s under considerable tension). The torn up thatch will be slowly discharged as it accumulates behind the blades and you are still protected from any solid debris encountered. (I’m not recommending this but it worked for me.) If you use this method overlap the passes slightly; the discharged material is about 2 inches wider than the cutter. Rake as regularly as suits you-you will likely be surprised at how much thatch is removed. Given the limitations of the bag capacity I doubt that I would bother even trying the “rake” attachment.

This little machine is doing exactly what I wanted it to. It picks up moss very easily and effectively. Only criticism is the bag fills up VERY quickly but if you have a smaller yard it’s not a big deal to empty the bag often. The size is right. The price is right. I’m happy with this purchase.

This light weight little machine is amazing. It went together pretty quickly and I had it up and running. As others have mentioned, the collection bag fills up after 1 or 2 strips depending on how big your strip is. At first I used it without the collection bag but I dislike raking and didn’t enjoy raking up all the stuff, and believe me, it churns up a lot of dead grass. So after a while I switched to the collection bag. Yes, it fills up super quick but for me it felt easier to just have my wheelbarrow or bag right there to dump it in and carry on.

Works perfectly.Previously I was spending hours deep raking by hand to pull out the dead grass and thatch. Not easy. Now I run this over the lawn and quickly and easily rake up bags and bags of thatch from a very dry lawn. As soon as there’s rain I will scarify and seed the lawn.Tested the scarify and As soon as there is rain in the forecast will scarify and seed.
