The bags offer good value for money, and one customer mentions they’re a worthwhile alternative to plastic bags. Durability and thickness receive mixed feedback – while some say they hold together well and are thicker than others, others report they tear easily and are too thin. EXECELLENT BAGS, Just make sure that your garbage isn’t near your dishwasher!
What I have to say is that I gave it top stars because it is THE best recyclable bags because they will compost and can take some liquid without leaking. The perforation works without tearing the bags AND they fit in the kitchen trash bins well. I would suggest the large rubber band holders to keep it in open in the bin.My only concern: when they are next to your under the counter dishwasher they will get WARM. They didn’t melt, but i could see this could be an issue, so please, keep these away from direct heat source. When they are full, just tie them off in a knot. Even better (I love this) these bags open up EASILY and stay open, unlike Glad or Hefty where you have to “work” to get them to open/or keep them open!

One Year Review: Durable and Compostable
I was initially hesitant to purchase plastic-alternative trashbags fearing they would compare in utility and strength. It was also greatly discouraging to hear that most “compostable” plant-based polymer bags likely are destined to the same longevity as plastic because 1) they can only break down in an industrial composting facility which is not available and 2) many landfills are too deprived of oxygen to facilitie decomposition of anything. This however turned out to be greatly misleading after talking directly to my local landfill operations. Trash is sufficiently aerated by mixing or is not compacted for a period long enough to allow these bags to break down.I had lightly buried a bag and will update this review as it decomposes. My first attempt, which I unfortunately did not document, did disintegrate greatly in about 7 months. These Green Earth bags have never leaked or broke on me. I use these in two different households and have used 200 between them in one years time. If you leave them in a bin too long (about 4 days) they “sweat” a bit of condensation on the bottom but now I add a paper towel underneath just in case. It is certainly worth the switch. I am more at ease knowing I no longer directly support the plastic bag industry.

Good compostable bags
We have been using these bags for several months now. They fit our 13 gal kitchen garbage can just fine – they are durable enough to hold a full bag of garbage. The only issue we have not quite figured out how to solve is how to close the top of the bag when it is full. In order to tie a knot, you have to leave a significant portion of the bag empty to be able to have enough material to tie the knot. We could buy twisty ties, but that defeats the purpose of having sustainable compostable bags. What we have done is just fold the top of the garbage and leave it at that. No problems really with that. I was worried at first that the bags would decompose too quickly (if I had wet or messy garbage in them) and they do not. I would say it takes about 3 months for them to really start decomposing. Also, I have noticed that they don’t decompose 100%. I would say they decompose to about 75%. Considering I have seen no other bags that do better than this, that still hold messy wet garbage without breaking down right away, I am happy with it.

Very nice bags with a caveat
I do like the quality of these bags. I used the first one in my kitchen trash can and made sure not to pack it, and it held up pretty well.I did the same with the second one, but it split on the side, possibly a cut from an egg shell or something else. I tried again to be very careful, but ended up having to bag inside a regular bag.I am very excited about compostable and biodegradable products on the market, and will always find a use for these, but may look for a stronger bag.I still think these are great bags, and don’t want to discourage anyone from buying them. You may have a completely different experience, and remember you can use these for just about anything, and with good conscience.I cannot express how good it feels to use products I know won’t still be polluting 50-70 years from now. Mind-blowingly awesome.

Great Bags That Don’t Hurt the Environment
My wife and I are very conscience about introducing plastic into the environment. So, we decided to go with these bags as they are compostable. We got two boxes of 100 13 gal bags for the kitchen. After a year we still haven’t used them all. We live in the county without house-by-house garbage service, so we have to take our trash and recyclables to the refuse depot. So far, we have not had any problem with leaks or the bags being ripped open. However, since they are designed to be compostable, they are not real thick, not designed to hold real heavy stuff, and are subject to small punctures, but, perfect liners for our 13 gal kitchen trash and recyclable bins. Recommended. A

Sturdy bags that work great for commercial compost service
I signed up with a local commercial compost company and they gave us a bucket to use for our compost scraps. I wanted to use bags in the buckets to make it easier to transfer to our larger bin…. I was using another brand of bags before (rhymes with BlioBlag) and we were having to be VERY careful about trying to remove the bag from the bucket, getting a lot of breakage/leaks, etc. I saw this brand and since they were BPI certified I gave them a try. WAY better. The bags seem to be a little bit thicker than the other brand and way more sturdy. We put in coffee grounds and leftovers and other slightly wet things and it holds up great (lasting a week). I try not to pour any liquids in there directly but otherwise everything else goes in! Definitely will keep purchasing these!

Was Seriously Worried at First – Pleased Now
Update: We’ve been using these bags for a year now. Our only complaints are the bags are slightly too short for 13 gal cans. We put a box in the bottom of our can to allow for the bag to go over the edges of the can. We have had a few bags rip on us but it was only a few over the last year. We do not put wet items or food scraps in our bags and we take them out every night. When we first used these we were super worried as they feel SO THIN!! However, we’ve been using them for over a month now and they have not torn or leaked once. I appreciate a biodegradable option to help lessen our impact on the environment.

Cool bags and seller.

We expected no problem on our bins being that they are much less volume than these bags. But they don’t really fit. Fortunately they are more stretchy than most compostable bags I’ve seen and we can just manage but it is time consuming and fussy.

Compost pail for dog poop. Not very sturdy. The bottom seam falls apart after a few days of use. What a disgusting mess.
