HCGADON 2-Pack In Ground Compost Bin for Garden Beds
was looking for a way to upgrade my vermicompost bin and this was a great addition to it. The Plastic material is strong and easy to handle. If you are new to composting, they do come with a small manual that has some clear directions. The size of the bins is perfect for medium to large vermicompost setups. The worm holes are large enough for the worms to get in but to compost doesn’t fall out. Functionally these are some of the best compost bins I’ve come across.

This system looks easy enough for me to handle on my own. I am going to wait until the spring to start. They come with clear and concise instructions. These are good size and sturdy. I think they are a good value for the money spent.

2-gallon in-ground compost bins
Between the two of these, they can handle four of our kitchen compost buckets. They are about 1 foot in diameter so they don’t take up too much space.Two concerns:1. The lids are fairly tight to snap on and I’m worried that after hot/cold weather they will warp and be hard to close.2. They are made of polypropylene plastic and with what we know now about microplastics, perhaps it would be better if they were made out of another material for usage in a veg patch?There is an implication that these are for use directly in a vegetable garden. Due to the microplastics worry, we will be using them in a non-food producing part of the yard.

Sturdy, in-ground composters. Lid is a little difficult to maneuver.
Nice, compact size, but large enough to hold a good bit. Super easy to install and once in the ground, it’s fairly unobtrusive. The only ding I have is the lid. Little hard to grip because you have to basically reverse grasp “down” into the lid. And then, if it gets grit around the rim, which it will, it’s even more difficult to turn. But, maybe once the dirt around it hardens, there will less getting on the rim.Â

Great for School Gardens!
I ordered these worm composters for our 5th grade students to study worm composting in our school garden. They won’t use them until mid September so I will update the review at a later date if there is anything to add.Positives:- The bins are sized perfectly – not to small to contain a sufficient amount of food scraps, and not so large that they are difficult to manage or fill.- The screw tops are secure, provide a large opening, and are easy to open/close.- The openings that allow worms to enter and exit are large enough for observations, but not so large that compost falls out if they are handled.- The plastic materials are sturdy for student use.- As a teacher, I appreciate the affordability and ease of “assembly”.I don’t see any shortcomings just yet and look forward to using these composters with students in our school garden.

Easy, mess-free at-home worm castings
These are large in-ground worm bins that will fit a good amount food. The holes are quite large which will allow worms to come and go with ease. The material seems to be a thick plastic of some sort. I think some grips could be added to the lid, the H shape is smooth which makes it slick and difficult to grip (whether itâs flipped upward or downward). Locking lid. For small composting needs. Great next to garden.
Unfortunately I have not used these yet because I didn’t realize how expensive red worms are and they aren’t native to Florida. But I can speak on the containers themselves. They are a very thick heavy duty plastic. They dont hold alot but I think thats intentional for how much red worms can compost. The holes on the side are so the worms can come and go as they need. I love that it came with garden gloves and a little handheld shovel to toss the compost. The lids are impressive as they can be used either way to give more space or not as things compost you can flip the lid around so its not sticking up out of the ground. Because these aren’t huge composting bins they were very easy to install and carry. If you have a small garden and just want to compost enough for your garden this is perfect. Id day these would also work great for a 1st time composer like myself. The lids also lock in place very well so no need to worry about critters getting into your compost.

Worm feeders
I hung one of the gloves that comes with these worm feeders over the top in an attempt to show how big they are. I hope it works because these are significantly larger than I expected. Lots of space for veggie scraps.The lids pop off and on easily so adding scraps will be easy. The holes on the side are large enough for Tremmers worms to fit so I’m sure our garden night crawlers won’t have a problem.This is a nice, sturdy, well made set if you’re in need.
