Great but one little thing
Bought this along with the Topeak bag to increase my carrying capacity for day trips, etc., just prior to RAGBRAI (400+ mile 7 day bike ride across Iowa). Was a little worried about a seat steam mount because I wasn’t sure if it would be stable on hills and rough roads, but I was very pleased with both its stability and ease of use. Doesn’t wiggle back and forth when pumping up a hill or rattle on bumpy roads. Topeak mounting system works pretty slick and keeps everything tight. Easy to remove and put on other bikes as well.4 years and thousands of miles later….buying another one. the only thing I don’t like about it is the plastic cross bar that the clip snaps on to when you slide the bag into the channel. It broke…but I like the system so I’m buying it again. Hope to get at least another 4 years + out of it.

Great for us commuters to class, school, work, etc.
I have been using this rack for just under a month now and it has been holding up to the abuse! I commute 5 miles to and 5 miles from grad school. You definitely need the side rails if you’re purchasing the Topeak saddle bag, otherwise the bag will hit the spokes. It can handle several books (over the recommended weight) worth of weight and the bike still handles well. Worth it for us commuters that need a rack that won’t fit a traditionally sized bike.

Seller – Sports Unlimited fixed the problem
From my comments below, I received a used item with missing parts so I returned it and wrote a 1 star review. The company, Sports Unlimited, quickly responded and replaced my order with a NEW bike rack that works perfectly with my bike. The new rack was shipped quickly and included a personal note from the CEO of the company, apologizing for the error. Thus my 4 star (edited) review.INITIAL REVIEW—–This is not a bad review of this product because I can’t even install the rack because not all the parts were included in the package. This rack must have been returned and the seller tried to sell it as a new item, but the parts that were included were used.

Great product.
This is my second purchase of this item. It is very convenient because I can remove it on my local rides and then put it on for my longer treks. I also have the bag that slides on the rack. The bag is interchangeable with both racks so that also is a plus. I use nothing but Topeak products in this category. I found them to be the best.

Eh.
Easy to put on and take off. But it’s not the most secure mount. The beam that’s supposed to be where you clip your bags is plastic and breaks easily.

Does not come with shims as advertised
The clamp is designed for a 1 1/4â dia. seat post. I donât know of any posts that large. Mine is closer to 1â. There were no shims in the packaging – as advertised. Fortunately, I had some rubber gasket material and was able to make my own shim.Having just purchased the rack I canât speak to its longevity but there is a lot of plastic which may (or not) stand the test of time. I donât think Iâd repurchase this rack or recommend it to a friend.

The reflector on rear of rack is broken. Not packaged properly. Item was loose inside box. Easily fixed. The item is sturdy overall.

UPDATE: I went riding with this bag mounted and although it does indeed interfere with my butt while riding, it’s thankfully not as bad as I originally thought! I’m still disappointed that it touches my butt while riding though, and I do wish that the mounting rack was adjustable so I could slide it back a bit. It’s not a deal breaker and I’ll be keeping it (I won’t be sending it back).REVISED REVIEW:I put it on my bike and slid the Topeak Bike Bag on it and was moderately disappointed. Because I have a rear fender on, there is little room for your butt to move past the rear of your seat because this bag sits right up against the back of the seat. If you don’t have a rear fender on your bike, this won’t be an issue since the bag can sit lower.
