The instructions don’t match the product.
What could have been a good product is instead a complete disappointment. I ordered covers for the two front seats of a 2019 Mazda CX-5 and the covers were a great match for the overall form of the car seats. The covers are obviously built more for protection than for visual appeal, but the color is good and they match the auto interior. There are rear seat covers referenced in the instruction manual but those were not included. Each front seat cover consists of 3 separate pieces: a headrest cover, an upper seat (back) cover, and a lower seat cover. The headrest and upper seat covers are great and easy to install, but the lower seat covers are unusable. The issue with the lower seat covers is pictured, along with the instruction manual. Each seat cover has two elastic straps with a plastic buckle, and the manual has a drawing of the seat cover with straps and buckle, but when the straps are pulled behind the seat to secure it (step 5 of the instructions), the buckle is not used. Instead, the manual has each elastic strap secured to a plastic round chuck that was threaded through the seat bottom beforehand.If the manual is followed as written the lower seat covers can’t be installed correctly. The first problem is that connecting the straps to the chucks doesn’t create enough tension to hold the seat bottom in place, and the buckles are not used at all. Trying to secure the seat cover by connecting the buckles together after hooking them to the chucks doesn’t help, because the straps are too short to buckle together when looped around the area of the seat back pictured in the manual, unless they are stretched to the point of tearing. The next problem is that moving the straps to connect them elsewhere means making sure the straps don’t interfere with mechanical seat functions and seat belt use. The worst problem is that the seat cover issue involves a cramped area of the car between the seat and the center console that’s difficult to reach, and if the tightly-stretched elastic straps slip out of your hand during install they snap back into this area and need to be fished back out again. Eventually one of the straps broke completely and that was that. Dealing with this product was a waste of time and effort.
