If quantity is your quest-you are here/ Quality is less than desired
Purpose for Product: Installing metal trim to new storage facility.Product Inspection: Clear plastic box containing 500 (didn’t count but there is a lot of them)-#10 x 1.5″ galvanized metal to wood roofing screws.Note: When the container was opened there was rubber residue- piles of rubberresidue as seen in the photo. A strong odor of rubber wafted throughout the shop.In all the decades of opening fastener containers I have never experiencedanything like this.Product Performance: Using a driver bit (that the seller did not supply) installed six of the screws.The slash points easily penetrated the metal and quickly embedded themselvesin the treated pine.Two of the four experienced bit slippage as the screw leaned off center slightly.The advertising mentioned something about keeping the screws straight to avoidslippage- they must have tested the screws and encountered this situation.I have installed many of this type screws and NEVER had this occur.The washer is reported to be EPDM- I don’t know.I did observe the rubber washers are not as thick as I am accustomed to.The metal cap washer is also much thinner than normal and deformed easily.Summary: I am going to use these screws but monitor them for leakage closely.Price point reflects the quality. The slippage thing is curious- might just need to be a better operator.
