Perfect for four and up
Perfect bedtime stories for kids who like animals. Theyâre on the longer side for a picture book so they might not keep attention of three and under but the pictures are joyful and James Herriot was such an extraordinary writer my four year old canât help but love the book as much as I do. Itâs always one more one more one more at bed time!

This book is everything great about James Herriot books but tailored at 3-6 year olds. It has eight individual stories (chapters really) of fun, unique experiences that Dr Herriot shares. The pictures are beautiful, the stories are delightful that work with the realities of being a vet and life on a farm in a very gentle, non-confronting way. It truly is overwhelmingly joy-filled and so worth reading. Great for boys or girls. This book takes pride of place on our bookshelf.

I havent come across any book as wonderful as this which talks of animals and their stories..and these are not fictions..but true stories penned by the Veterinary doctor practicing in Scotland countryside. The stories are of farm animals like cats and dogs and horse and ship and pig. Each story is narrated very well to depict the character of each animal without any jargon.And what to say about marvelous illustrations of this book. There is not a single page without illustration. Rather the stories are written on illustrated pages. The illustrations very well show the countryside Scotland which seems very similar to rural India of farms and animals. Each page is a vibrant imagery. Both the illustrators have their own different style. The book has a very grand size.
