Nice slim grab, lightweight, long battery time ez to get started. Laps have come so far in 10 yrs, I took my old one out back and shot it!

Really nice laptop.
First thing, it was very easy to setup. No issues, didn’t need assistance. Second, the keyboard is NOT BACKLIT. Rufus was wrong, but I think this has since been corrected. It really is fast. I only have my 5 year old Dell with i7 and GTX video, this Snapdragon is at least that fast. Third, it gets faster when no plugged in seems true too. Yeah, couldn’t believe it either. Fourth, it is extremely light but we’ll constructed with aluminum where needed (like to keep the screen from over-flexing). Fifth, the OLED screen is exceptional. I feel they should have tried something other than the Intel built in video. I think it would have been even better. Lastly, the battery time….I don’t fully agree it will reach over 30 hours, even though they claim it was tested by streaming videos, I doubt the overall time. I will say that I have gotten around 24 hours of battery time so far. If you need something that needs off the power for long periods, this is your laptop. Honestly, had this had that backlit keyboard, this would have been a 5-star review.

HP OmniBook 5 16 inch
I ordered “HP OmniBook 5 16 inch” My reviewThe HP OmniBook 5 (16 inch, Gen 3 Pro) is definitely heavy on the AI side of things. I still need to take some time to understand features like Recall, since I havenât heard of that before. It does come with a month free of M365 desktop software, which is nice. The screen is vibrant, large, and great for streaming or working, but my biggest gripe is the keyboard layout. This model is considered compact, and I really miss having a 10-key and more spread-out keys, but the letters are big so they are readable. Iâve been making all kinds of typing mistakes, which gets frustrating. The specs say âfull size keyboard and backlit,â but after a lot of research, and looking into BIOS, and even calling HP Support, I confirmed this isnât the case for my model. Itâs backlit âcapable,â meaning itâs an upgrade option, but not included here. Kind of like having the same buttons in your car as the higher trim models, but they donât actually work unless you upgraded. With no backlight and compact layout, typing in the dark has me fumbling, and thatâs a letdown. On the plus side, the battery life is impressive-up to 34 hours, though of course that depends on what youâre running. It fast charges to about half in 30 minutes, which I love. The touchscreen is responsive, though I wish the keyboard flipped underneath to make it more tablet-like, like my ASUS. That wouldâve pushed this closer to a 5-star machine. For ports, I was surprised there are only two USB-C and one USB-A, and no HDMI. That feels pretty limiting. On the other hand, the speakers are loud, brightness is good, and itâs thinner than my ASUS Touch and Dell laptops. Some of the plastics are made from recycled materials, which I like seeing.Performance-wise, with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Snapdragon X Plus chip, and an Adreno GPU, itâs solid for productivity, streaming, editing photos, and all the AI tools I still need to dig into. Iâve read that gaming performance isnât the strongest on this model, but thatâs not something I plan on using it for anyway.Overall, the hardware feels sturdy and capable, but missing a full keyboard, backlit keys, and a convertible design keeps it from being perfect. Still, itâs a solid laptop for productivity and media, and Iâll update once I explore more of the AI features.

It’s pretty good for the price – no backlit keyboard though
I’ve been using this laptop for about a week, and so far, I’ve been impressed. It’s an all-around decent laptop for the price.First is the build quality-The top and bottom portion of the laptop appears to be made out of aluminum (which is always a win in my book), and the remainder of the laptop’s body is made of plastic. The hinges feel pretty sturdy and don’t seem to be putting unnecessary strain on the screen when you open the lid.The keyboard and trackpad on this laptop feel pretty nice as well. The keyboard is satisfyingly tactile, and the trackpad is smooth and responsive. The port selection leaves a bit to be desired, but I am grateful that they included a full-sized USB-A port on the right side. I’ve seen the expanding port design on laptops before- though it’s usually for an ethernet port. It’s a neat feature I don’t see often. A word of warning: The old expanding ethernet ports broke pretty easily, so be careful when using the USB port.Another fantastic feature on this laptop is the webcam cover. I always appreciate it when a laptop manufacturer adds a built-in shutter to the webcam. The only negative thing I have to say about this laptop is that it lacks a backlit keyboard. I’m not the best touch-typer in the world when it comes to all the special characters and function keys on a laptop, so to me, this limits this laptop’s use to daytime use or use only in brightly-lit areas. Now for the screen-It’s fantastic! It’s probably one of the best screens I’ve ever seen in a laptop in this price range. Considering that it’s a touchscreen as well, I’m even more impressed! The screen is clear, bright, and super vibrant. Colors look amazing on this screen, and watching movies on it is a delight. It has great viewing angles and a solid refresh rate. The touchscreen feature works flawlessly and is super responsive. I have no complaints about the screen whatsoever.Moving on to the performance-Performance is great! It’s not a gaming laptop, so I’m not going to hold it to impossibly high standards in this review, but as a general-purpose laptop for everyday productivity (and even some light gaming), it’s great! It’s super snappy. It powers through everyday tasks without even breaking a sweat. It even runs Minecraft on high settings pretty smoothly. It manages to stay pretty cool under load, and when the fan does kick in, it’s very quiet. Finally, there’s the battery life. It’s fantastic as well! Since it uses an ARM processor, it’s very power efficient when compared to regular laptops. You can browse the web, watch videos, or work on spreadsheets all day on this thing!Final thoughts-It’s a pretty nice midrange budget laptop. It has a lot of great features, great performance, and an excellent battery life.It has a great screen, solid build quality, and it’s the perfect size.
