T.K.Excellent Deck Screws 2 Inch, Wood Screws #8 x 2″Rust Resistant, 630 PCS, Exterior Epoxy Coated — I use this type of screw almost exclusively when building with wood. In fact, I rarely use nails anymore. The star head is the easiest to work with because the drive head does not slip easily, both installing and removing. One of my most common uses is when Iâm just needing to hold something in place temporarily. The star head screw does not round out easily and it is so easy to back out that I can use a single screw over and over many times if needed. The only drawback is that they are one of the most expensive fasteners to use. This particular brand is about average in price.The only thing I donât like about this particular screw is the T20 star head size. The other brands of this screw I use, obtained at the big box stores, have gone to standard T25 star size. There is no good reason that the T25 size cannot be used throughout all screw lengths. Since I use several different screw lengths, a standard size of T25 makes everything much easier and faster. The star head size not being T25 is the only reason I did not give this review 5 stars.

Awesome deck screws!
These are really pretty good screws. They are well designed and are excellent for decks and other outdoor structures. The self-tapping / self-drilling design is really great, and does not interfere with the threaded length at all. Other designs have either an increased oveall length with a smooth ‘self-drill’ part, or a shortened threaded length, depending on how you look at it. These screws have a machined groove axially along 1 cm of the tapered tip, which is the active self-drilling area. They are coated with yellow zinc, so they should last a long time outside without rusting.I used these on a couple of small fencing projects and had really good results. The T-20 torx drive made for easy installation. I was using a magnetic driver bit, and the screws stayed in place perfectly while setting up the drive. The self-drilling performance was so good, I was able to get the screws started with just one hand on the driver. I did not need to hold the screw in place with the other hand. It is helpful to have a free hand while on a ladder or some other situation.The kit did include two quick change T-20 drive bits. I used them to drive a few dozen of the deck screws with my small impact driver, and saw that the splines of the driver bit were starting to twist. The bits would probably work great with a normal drill type drive, but definitely not impact driver rated. Fourtunately, I have plenty of T-20 impact bits to finish the project.I also like the bucket the screws are in. I am a big fan of containment. The bucket is the perfect size and the closure works good.
