Good quality 1/2â diameter hex headed bolt has limited uses.
*VERY substantial 1/2â hex headed galvanized or white zinc coated bolts for all things 2 3/4â thick.*Bolt threads are only 3/4â long and nut is itself 9/16â.*You can get something tight up to 3â under the nut with just enough bite to fully engage the nylon locking insert, but thatâs without any washers.*So, doing the math, items at exactly 2 3/4â plus two washers and with nut fully âlockedâ is the ideal scenario.*Because the threaded end of the bolt is so short, you get a fine bolt with limited uses.*Four for the offered price is good. Recommended if your work fits the boltâs limited use requirements.ADDENDUM: glad a read the other review. Regarding the thread issue, all my bolts and nuts fully tightened by hand, up to the point where the nylon insert engaged. Bolt threading misalignment issue may have been corrected.

Issues with threads, skeptical of âgalvanizedâ coating. But fine for certain applications.
These came sized as expected. They feel sturdy, however two out of four of the bolts had issues with their threads, and the nuts didnât screw in cleanly. See photo. I know itâs the bolt itself because I also tried with nuts that went down fine on the other two. Either the threading is off or itâs sized incorrectly. Perhaps this is a fluke, but it points to poor quality control.Iâm also skeptical of the âgalvanizedâ claim, as these have the cleaner finish of standard zinc coating rather than the more matte uneven finish of galvanized bolts Iâve purchased from hardware stores. I donât have the knowledge or tools to test out how thick the coating is.. Iâll be testing how they weather over time..That being said, if you end up with well threaded bolts and arenât using these in the most exposed environment, the value is there.
