Worked Great!
I bought these screws to screw some lumber to an existing metal building to make a wall guard for our horses. The bit struggled to drill through 1/2 inch lumber and the metal on our carport, but that was easily solved by pre-drilling the wood. The screws are also strong enough metal that the heads donât strip easily.

Worked well. Bring your own bit though. Screws are stronger than the supplied bits.
I couldn’t find this length at any of the local hardware stores. If I could they would cost way more than these.I was worried I’d break the screws off after doing all the work on my trailer. To my surprise I actually sheared both of the supplied cheapo torx bits off flush with the screw head.They did self tap. I was impressed. It’s been almost a year now and I’ve only noticed one that has snapped from the treated pine warping. I still have 60 or so to replace them if it becomes a problem. The bottom of the trailer looked like a nightmare if I were to have to grind the excess off. I just took a mini sledge and gave a little love tap. I’m guessing they’re lightly hardened since they all snapped off without bending, they may even have a shear line on them. I don’t remember looking that close at the time.I’d say for the price I paid they are worth it.

Rebuilt my 16 ft trailer, new everything, used these to secure the new deck boards. Kinda hard to start thru the boards but go thru the metal like they should. Performance and quality are a plus.

I wasted my money on these POORLY DESIGNED SCREWS
In THEORY the drill tip bores a hole into the steel tube or extrusion. Then the two small flaps snap off and allow the threads to draw the screw into the metal material and thread the hole as they enter. I gave up on these after some 20 screws FAILED to thread into the material after the two tabs FAILED to break off, making the holes TOO LARGE for the threads to grab the material. Once the drill tip bored through the material, the two tabs would BORE OUT the hole, making it nearly impossible for the threads to grab ANYTHING AT ALL. I should have paid attention to the HUGE RETURN RATE on these screws. I will not return them, but I will probably just add them to the big pile of CHINESE CR*P I have regrettably purchased over time.

QUALITY SCREWS!
Tips are great…drill though 3/4″ then though 3/8″ hardie concrete board then through 1″ foam then though 10 gauge metal…all have drilled with no duds(dull self driller tips). I thought the concrete board would destroy the tips before it got to the metal..but it did notThese are quality fasteners!

Can’t use with 2bys
So, the quality is fine, it is a screw, I got this to put down 2″ oak boards on a trailer. The threads are 15/16″ back from the tip, so it you are using a true 2 by or even a traditionally 2 by the threads never come in contact with the frame. So if they would shorten the drilling tip and lengthen the thread this would be great. I would not recommend these for trailer deck screws.

Worked pretty good…a few wouldn’t drill through the metal…pre-drilled all the wood because they seemed to not drill into the metal nearly as well as they did after pre-drilling the wood first.
