Worked perfectly for stripped decking screw countersunk / embedded in wood
Worked perfectly for the job I needed it for. Not sure how strong the metal is had the screws been rusted and stuck… but it worked very well for somewhat looser screws that were stripped an embedded in wood (countersunk) without reach to pull or unscrew them out. Drilled the stripped hole a little deeper and then pounded the extractor bit (a couple sizes larger than the drill bit size) in with a hammer. Then used a wrench to unscrew the screw (counter clockwise). There are T-handle tap wrenches you can also purchase to make the job easier (not included with this kit), but I used a locking/clamping wrench and things were fine. But if I needed more leverage I think the t-handle tap wrench would have been better. I didn’t realize I needed one, so I made do with the other wrench in a pinch.

Perfect for removing some broken bolts
The relief and happiness that’s felt when you realize that you are finally getting the remainder of a broken bolt out is difficult to explain. These extractors have helped me on two different occasions in removing broken bolts.

Works great, but the process can be challenging
I well and truly mangled 2 of the torx head screws while trying to remove my Jeep’s spare wheel carrier, so ordered this set to save my bacon. The first screw came out great. The second was more challenging – the drill I was using didn’t have enough torque, and the impact driver was just slipping. Eventually I went old-school and used adjustable locking pliers, and slowly and surely I was able to get the screw free (the soft metal of the screw made things quite difficult).The fact the bits and removers are paired together suggests they should be used together, but I found that wasn’t the case. After drilling the hole, you’ll probably need to use a tool one or two sizes up from the bit in order for it to grip.I didn’t rate this 5 as I get the impression the removers will wear down with repeated use, but still recommend it for getting you out of trouble.

Pretty case and shiny things
This is a light weight set.The flutes on the extractor break off way to easy. Due to space limitations, I was using only a 5in wrench, so no great amount of torque; and the extractor crumbled away!

Didnât work for me
I really wanted this to work. We have some screws that were put into the stairs of our old house before we bought the place (previous owner had pink carpet on stairs). We have slowly been repairing our house but are a little stuck on the stairs as some of the screws absolutely wonât come out and they couldnât be driven in any further either. I was hoping this kit would allow us to easily get rid of the screws, but it didnât. The drill bits provided created a little divot in the screw but would drill into it properly. I tried to use the extractor piece with the divot it did create and it did nothing. I tried multiple sizes with both the drill bits and the extractor bits and none of them were able to get the job done. The smallest drill bit broke rather than drill. Iâm not sure what kind of metal the screws are made out of but I do know that this kit wasnât able to get the screws out of our old staircase. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

The base of the bit is square, having trouble finding an adapter to make it longer for my need.Should have been hexagonal. Might work for someone else
