Kept the squirrels away
I have been having horrible problems with squirrels getting into my engine and eating wires. I have tried EVERYTHING, nothing worked. The jury is still out but so far after 10 days, I have not seen even one squirrel ð¿ï¸ around my car.

Good rodent protection for cars
We had recent incidents of rodents chewing our car wiring. Repairs were expensive. Ordered this rodent repellent to prevent more cable damage from rodents. Installation was simple. The kit comes with 2 zip ties to attach the repellent under the hood, on areas with wiring exposed to rodents. It uses 3 AA batteries placed in a tool-less tab that can be squeezed out. Note that this device doesn’t seem rated for direct outdoor exposure to sunlight and rain. The rodent repellent has 4 LED lights: 2 white, 1 red and 1 green. It alternates between these lights constantly. When the green light turns on, it emits a sound similar to a laser tag gun. So far, the repellent has been effective. In an area where we had rodent incidents before, there have been none for several weeks after installing this rodent repellent.

Worth a shot to avoid costly auto wiring repairs
Mice nesting in the engines of cars parked outdoors is a major problem, especially if you only drive the car occasionally. They like the warmth and protection that the engine provides. Our SUV is our “dog car” that really only gets driven once per day very locally, so it makes for a perfect home for mice. When we started getting all kinds of nonsensical warning signals on car’s dash, we had it checked out and found that mice were nesting in parts of the engine compartment where you can’t see and chewing through a bunch of wires. It cost us $1000 in repairs, so I’m doing everything I can to prevent this from happening again.I have no idea if this device is effective, but it’s worth a shot, along with the mothball-type repellents that are available. I also put a baited mouse trap in the engine to confirm whether any mice were setting up shop there. So far so good (2 months now) as there haven’t been any signs of mice or their nests or hoarded acorns, but it’s late spring and perhaps the engine compartment is too hot for them now. I guess I’ll really know if this thing works next winter.You can’t hear the ultrasonic sound, so that’s what the test switch is for. You normally have it off (O symbol) and turn it on (I symbol) for it to change to a frequency that you can hear, just to test the device. Don’t keep it in this mode unless you like torturing yourself. The strobe light is a good idea, but perhaps only effective if it reaches the areas of the engine where the mice nest.I like that the device is inactive when in motion, to save battery life. The batteries seem to last about 2 months. The device starts beeping periodically when they get low, but you can let it go at least a few more days before it actually dies.The best solution is to park in a mouse-free (sealed) garage, or have an outdoor cat patrol your driveway. Since these are not options for us, we’ll see how the combined effects of repellent light, noise, and smell work.

Not water repellent!
How could this device work for long under the hood of a car, it is not water repellent. Water is splashed up from the road under the hood of of most gasoline powere carrs that I am familiar with,.

Seems to be a good product
I’ve had this Rodent Repellent for a couple of months. I’ve just recently used it as our weather has just gotten warm enough to bring the ground squirrels out of their nests and be visible.I’ll start with the quality of this first….it’s very well made. It’s not overly heavily but it heavy enough to verify that it’s well constructed.The battery compartment opens and closes easily and fits snugly into the main compartment…so the batteries are well protected from corrosion.Secondly…there are red and green flashing lights that are fairly bright.Thirdly….altho the instructions state that there’s no sound….but the one that I have does emit a sound that that is similar to a safety lock alarm on a vehicle. This feature must be in addition to the silent wave sounds that only a rodent can hear.Thirdly….the instructions are printed in such small lettering that I actually had to get a magnifying glass to read them and they’re really not clear on exactly how to select the settings.This does come with zip ties which I was skeptical of using under the hood of my car because of the heat.(The information provided states that you would place it under the hood of the car and away from heat)Lastly….when placed under the hood of my car….the audible sound would continually go off and my dogs hated it.I don’t know if there’s a way to turn that part off because as I mentioned earlier..the instructions aren’t real clear.I’ve moved this unit to several other locations and it still emitted the alarm sound.Overall….my opinion on this is positive. I feel like all the flashing lights and the alarm sound has to be a deterrent.The ground squirrels ate all of the spark plug wires off of my car last year so I’m confident that this will definitely deter some activity.

I hooked this up because I was having an issue with Rats under my hood. I installed this easily and within @ days they were all gone. love this
