Everything I need and more
My Gateway laptop has been getting slower and slooowwwwer for a while to the point where it took me (no exaggeration) 15 minutes to boot…and it was getting glitchy besides. I’ve had Acers before and they’ve been good machines so I thought I’d give this one a shot. I’m not in the least disappointed. The pros:+The backlit keyboard. I absolutely love it. Yes, the backlighting goes off after a few seconds of non use – but any key will immediately turn it back on. So I just press the Shift key and the backlighting returns. A really neat feature on such an inexpensive computer.+The matte finish screen. I remember when I was searching for my last laptop that I had a terribly hard time finding a matte (non-glare) screen. It seemed that at that time for some inexplicable reason every manufacturer out there had gone to a glossy screen which, to me, creates thoroughly unacceptable reflections. The Gateway I wound up with was one of the very few on the market with a matte screen. So glad this one has it as well.+Flexibility. Apparently it is quite easy to upgrade both the memory and the hard drive. For my uses I don’t think I’ll need to do either one – but it’s nice to know I can if I want to. I’ve been using a 1TB external drive as my primary storage for some time now, so I just plugged it in and kept on chugging.+Speed. I know I was transitioning from a computer that had become outrageously slow, but I was not prepared for boot times under ten seconds – wow! It’s about time that these things finally are operating at speeds they should have been all along. And everything is much faster. It is a true pleasure.+Design. Sleek, clean, not all gimmicked up. And although I read a review or two that said the fan was noisy I think those reviewers got a clunker because mine is super quiet – you can barely hear the fan at all. Certainly not anywhere near as noisy as my previous laptop.The cons:- I do wish it had a DVD drive built in. I know it would have made it thicker, but I hate that I won’t be able to access some of my antique stuff until I add one. Oh, well.And that’s it for the cons. I find this to be an outstanding computer for the price and would highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t need eyeball-searing speed and massive memory capacities necessary for some genres. For me, I’m certain it’s going to be my workhorse for some time to come.

Best in it’s price range
I’m not an acer fan, as acer was like the hyundai’s of the pc tech world in my book, but I needed a laptop for my daughter and this one fit the bill.So far so good, I’d say build quality is fairly decent, it’s slimmer than I expected. Performance wise, obviously it’s no beast, but it gets the job done. What’s really great about this is the fact that the ram is upgradeable to 64GB, but I’ll just purchase an 8GB stick to add to it.There is room for a 2.5″ SSD. The NVME is also removeable, so while there’s no sd card slot, storage is fully expandable in a better way.Having a backlit keyboard with #pad is excellent.Webcam quality is ok, nothing to talk about there, 720p 30fps max, but as mentioned before, gets the job done.Even with only 4Gb Ram, it still ran smoothly despite having several Chrome windows open with multiple tabs. Installed minecraft java edition for her, it was able to play set at 7 chunks render distance, and not very many settings dialed down and still get 60fps (not that she cared about fps), so I still think you may be able to play some titles at 720p maybe medium settings, but i haven’t checked it yet.Screen is not bad, viewing angles are quite good and bright enough.The speaker are not loud but audio quality is fairly decent, especially given how slim the laptop is. Your phone may go louder, but it won’t scrape your ear canal.Battery life is average I’d say.All in all, this is a laptop that is more expensive than it should be, AS ARE ALL THAT FALL IN THIS PRICE POINT, but definitely compared against all the others I’ve sifted through, it’s the best. In summary, it is because:1. Ability to upgrade internal nvme storage + add 2.5″ ssd2. As with internal storage, ram isn’t soldered on like the other brand laptops and can be upgraded3. Latest WiFi and Bluetooth technology4. Backlit keyboard with number pad and fingerprint scanner on touchpad5. Inclusion of an ethernet port. Especially helpful if you need a stable internet connection.6. Windows 11 ready7. Decent display with good viewing angles8. Decent quad core apu9. USB-C also available on chassis and overall, decent I/OIt’s a solid buy if you’re looking for a laptop within it’s price range at the time of this review. It offers the most features and flexibility vs the competition.

I really like this little machine!
One of the best budget laptops I’ve ever owned! A great value with excellent keyboard and usability. Even the speakers are fine, though I’m typically on headphones. Has the all right port options for me so I don’t need much of a kit when I travel with it. The screen is exceptionally bright clear and crisp! What else: I upped the RAM to the max and it performs flawlessly for me still after 3 years of moderate use. A good buy I can recommend!

Details: Has 3 USB ports, a USB – C port, very thin, decent screen, decent touchpad (may want a mouse), VERY good keyboard, many features (Wifi, Bluetooth, Alexa, AMD Radeon Software, to name a few), Ethernet port, good battery, 4GB of ram, decent CPU and great GPU (for its price), good for literally anything (runs max graphics ROBLOX at 60fps most games, runs Rocket League 60fps low-med graphics, runs Val 60fps low-med graphics, however I do believe you should buy 4gb more ram and put it inside your laptop (if you know how) it costs around 20-30 CAD on avg and will make your pc SO much better, it isnt too hard if you have the resources, but still great product I am loving it. This is why I only buy acer productsAfter about 6 months of using this product, i will improve my review:Everything in this product is still working very, very well and I am still very satisfied with my purchase.However, one concern for gamers is the ram, if you plan on using this laptop for more intensive tasks, consider buying more ram to go alongside it. It will save you so much trouble in all honesty.

Excelente laptop A515-46-R14K ,,,, no es una laptop de juegos, pero por el precio, y algunas mejoras {upgrade} puede quedar como una verdadera Premium el detalle es que hay que saber lo que se hace.El teclado iluminado, y el sensor de huella, son caracteristicas de laptops de mayor costo, y ese fue uno de los motivos de compra. La calidad es magnifica, es una portatil bella en su apariencia, y comoda en su manejo. A la fecha, ya le aumente la memoria a 8 gb. con un modulo DDR4 Hynix de 4 gb. de 3200 mhz. para activar el dual channel, y trabaja a la perfeccion. La memoria que trae esta portatil Acer, es de 4 gb. a 3200 mhz., y no de 2400 mhz. como muchos dicen. esto, puede saberse, entrando en Windows, a Simbolo de sistema, y escribiendo el siguiente comando >>>>>> wmic memorychip get speed, banklabel, manufacturer, memorytype <<<<< que en mi caso resulto una memoria DDR4 (0 significa ddr4) de 3200 mhz de velocidad, y el fabricante es Micron Technology, y es por eso que le añadÃ, el modulo descrito arriba. La persona que quiera aumentar la memoria a esta portatil, puede usar el comando de arriba y conocer la velocidad y el fabricante de su memoria, y asi, escoger un modulo de la misma velocidad para el aumento de su memoria,,,,no entren a Windows>Administrador de tareas>Rendimiento, pues ahi, les mostrara 2400 mhz de velocidad,,,,usen el comando de arriba para saber la verdadera velocidad, el fabricante, y el tipo de memoria que debe ser ddr4. Ademas de aumentar la memoria, ya le adapte un SSD Crucial MX500 de un terabyte, e incluso cambie el NVMe de 128 gb. por un Kingston KC2500 NVMe de 500 gb. previa clonacion del de 128 gb. original que trae el sistema operativo Windows 10 Home.Esta computadora ahora, es RAPIDISIMA, con una buena capacidad de almacenamiento, y trabajando en DUAL CHANNEL. Si alguien desea actualizar esta Acer, le RECOMIENDO, aprender como se hace fisicamente, desde abrir la computadora SIN DAÃARLA, y OJO, DESCONECTAR LA BATERIA, antes de hacer algun cambio en el hardware. Resumiendo,,,,SI se puede aumentar la memoria,,,,,SI se puede ponerle un SSD,,,,,y SI se puede incluso, cambiar el modulo NVMe de 128 gb. pero, HAY QUE SABER COMO.Esta maquina es excelente por su precio, y trabaja de maravilla.
