Pleasantly Surprised
This is an exceptional dehumidifier. It’s been run hard for the three weeks that I’ve owned it. And it’s worked terrifically. I was pleasantly surprised because the reviews indicated a lot of negative comments. In fact, one reviewer indicated that CR rated it at a very low 35 on its performance scale. These points notwithstanding, I still decided to go ahead and buy it because of my positive prior experience with another Amazon Basics product (a Microcut Shredder). I’m glad that I bought it.It’s performed better than my old Home Labs dehumidifier, which was very highly rated by CR a few years ago. I use it in my combined Laundry and Utility Room which is adjacent to a crawl space, so there’s lots of humidity in these areas. The dew point has hovered in the 70s or tropical humidity since early July so it’s been tested hard. It has passed with flying colors. The Control Panel is straightforward and intuitive. I run it on Continuous Fan so it only stops for the water tank to be emptied. The Humidistat is very accurate and maintains a comfortable setting. The Filter Alert Light is accurate and reliable. The Water Tank is more than adequate. The Wheels on it make it easy to move to other areas.I definitely would buy this dehumidifier again and I highly recommend it to prospective buyers. The only caveat at this point is whether it will continue to perform well in the long run. [As such, I will update this review at a future date.]

Worth the investment!
This unit has been great so far! We bought this as a replacement for an older B&D unit that failed after several years of continuous use. The bucket filled up within a few hours and has worked great with the automatic pump. It is worth investing a little more into one with the pump if you plan to use it in a damp basement. We have it pump directly into our washing machine drain pipe so that we don’t have to worry about emptying the bucket. The unit is also much, much quieter than our older unit. We’ll see how long the unit lasts, but we got the 4-year protection plan just in case we have issues. To be honest, I’ve never had the best luck with longevity with dehumidifiers so that warranty was a no-brainer. Definitely recommend the unit with the pump PLUS the protection plan.

Stopped working after 6 months
I bought this to dehumidify my 1600 square foot home. It is rated for 4000 square foot. At first it worked great, though a bit noisy. Also it blows hot air while it is working. When it stopped dehumidifying, it blew cold air. It still turns on, just doesn’t dehumidify. The pump worked great. I was very happy with that feature. I had to really read over the manual to understand the ways it can operate and the icons on the buttons. It’s pretty heavy but luckily it has wheels to roll it around. The water collection tank and filter is pretty easy to clean. When it stopped working and I had to contact Amazon for return. This process has been a nightmare. First they wanted me to return it for a fraction of the cost. They said they would have UPS pick it up even though I didn’t have the box anymore. But when I read the instructions they sent, I was supposed to box it. So I tried the chat for help. That wasn’t helpful. So I requested a call. At first the rep wanted me to purchase it again then return the defective one. Item is no longer available. In the end, she forwarded my warranty request to another department to determine if it has a warranty. However online, it is documented that all Amazon Basics have a 1 year limited warranty, unless it is an item that is consumable, like food or printer ink. I will NEVER EVER buy Amazon Basics again.

Serious Drying Power in a No-Nonsene Package
My parentsâ basement was practically tropical: high humidity, efflorescence, and early mold. Buckets of moisture absorber didnât cut it. Enter this Amazon Basics dehumidifier. It dropped the humidity from the high 70s to the mid-40s in a few days and has kept it there. The walls look drier, the air smells cleaner, and even the efflorescence has backed off.Itâs heavy, and the cord could be longer, but itâs powerful, quiet, and just works. If you need serious drying power without spending a fortune, this one delivers.

Make 1 key modification and it is great
Works well if you make a couple of specific modifications.Someone else wrote about the constant cycling of the unit and how it needs air flow over the humidity sensor. That was correct.I added a small usb powered computer fan on a simple bracket blowing air gently over the humidity sensor and the unit does not constantly cycle. The reason is with static air, humidity builds up inside the unit very quickly and does not reflect the actual room humidity. If there is just a little air flow, it blows out the static humid air and blows room humidity over the sensor. This then reduces the cycling a huge amount and the unit will last a lot longer before wearing out.Do this and you will be far more satisfied with the performance.I set mine up to drain into a floor drain and it has been set and forget ever since.

Made a Huge Difference in the Air Humidity of Our Home
While most homes tend to be extra dry during the winter months, our house seems to be ultra humid. With our windows shut to keep the cold out, our house seems to hold in all moisture, even despite having bathroom and kitchen fans on. Our humidity goes up to almost 75% according to our hydrometer, and even after opening all the windows during the day, we still wake up to moisture on the windows. The Amazon Basics Dehumidifier did a great job of dropping the humidity in our home and collecting all the extra moisture from the air. The water collected in the collection bin, was easy to empty out, and I could control everything at the push of the button on the top of the unit. You can set the humidifier to run for a specified amount of time, until a specific humidity is reached, or just as long as you need it to drop the humidity in a room. It operates about as loud as a fan, and the air that comes out is just slightly heated, but not so much that it warms a room. It works effectively enough to keep our home’s moisture levels in check, and while it’s a bit heavy, it has earned it’s place in our home to keep our air a bit drier and windows and walls clear of moisture.

I did not want to buy an amazon basic product….BUT, I was looking for a unit with a pump that could empty the thing uphill as I have a pipe connection for it well above the ground. It works so far amazingly well (2 days I have it).It did remove all the humidity of the basement, and on top of this, I have a small leak (yet to be fixed) on water tank input pipe, that was dropping and slowly filling the safety reservoir.Well, the drops dry out on the pipe before reaching the ground 🙂 So this thing is even emptying the water from the leak ! 😛 ….Definitely, if you look for a device that can auto empty its water tank, run 24/7 and keep basement dry, that’s the one.

I purchased a dehumidifier with a drain pump. it never worked and I tried everything except taking the unit apart. Reread instructions etc…As I am a handicapped veterans I had to get someone to bring the heavy item to my basement. Eventually unpack it and let it run for a few days only to notice that the pump did not seems to work!!So by the time I realized and tried everything I could think of I contacted Amazon only to be told it was my responsibility to deliver the item to a UPS depot for a “special” refund!!! Apparently I had only a few days to report that the unit was not working and there was nothing they could do for me!!!!This took well over an HOUR on the phone!!As I persisted to talk to a supervisor or manager the person on the phone give up on me and pass me to Denny also part of the customer service team but not in management.Denny read all my comments and eventually after two hours on the phone came through with a suggestion that he could arrange special pick up from our house for a full refund!!!KUDOS to DENNY for his initiative and respect for this special case.Denny is definitely due for a promotion because without his intervention my further actions could have hurt the Amazon’s reputation! A little caring during this Covid pandemic is what we all need right now!!

I have the model with the pump. It works well. Once the tank reaches full, it pumps about 1/3rd of the water out. It dehumidifies my 1500sqft basement to bone dry.

The unit essentially works well at removing room humidity. The issues against the unit are:CONS1) The control panel display is difficult to see (tiny LEDs).2) Also the Timer (Start and Run) function is difficult to understand and without use of the Owner Instruction Manual.3) The Water Collection bucket is difficult to remove and especially troublesome to get back in place.4) The Water Level Sensor arm sometimes drops down when the Water Bucket has been removed, care when replacing the bucket is necessary as that arm could have dropped and would easily then be broken.5) The unit seems to cycle On / Off perhaps more than necessary and this is annoying.PROSWorks well and is fairly quiet.
