Awesome touchscreen smart lock for basic needs
I just bought this lock and installed it on the door between my garage and house. I was looking at more expensive locks, but this has all the sectional features in an attractive design and at an affordable price. I installed this on an old door in my 1930’s house that didn’t have an existing deadbolt so it took some extra time to drill the holes and chisel out the strike plate, but that would be the case for any new deadbolt I installed here. After that was done, the actual lock installation went quickly. I have to admit the door I installed it on is very ugly, as seen in the photos, but the lock is performing well. I’ll list my pros and cons below:Pros:- High-quality materials and good construction. Doesn’t feel cheap or weak.- Installation is easy and straightforward.- Autolock feature is great and the time is customizable- Allows for 50+ unique door codes- Can still be opened with the key if the batteries dieCons:- You have to wake up the touch screen with a tap before entering your code- I wish Amcrest linked to quick how-to videos that demonstrated how to program the lock.- Programming isn’t as intuitive as other locks that connect to an app. You have to enter a sequence of codes to change functions. (However, you could argue that the lock is more secure because it’s not wireless.)

Read before you buy, not worth the hassle!
To start off I own multiple Amcrest products, I have noticed a significant decline in their quality on their products.I saw that the reviews were not the greatest for this sighting issues with the locking mechanism and such. I decided to go ahead and give it a try myself.Out of the box the lock looks very nice, it has nice color to it which is great for matching up any door. The components feel solid and good quality. The not so great is when I started the installation process.- First off the screws that come with it are too short. The screws to hold the latch plate in the door frame are way to short. They didn’t grab very well and it didn’t feel secure.- The mechanism for the deadbolt itself was slightly angled sideways and not straight.- The keys that came with it did not insert cleanly. It felt like you had to force it in which made me nervous it would not come out. To which I did struggle to even get them pulled back out.- Once I got it installed the issue I ran inn to was the deadbolt would not come out more than an inch when locking from inside the house. I removed and checked each point as I reinstalled it. Once I got to the end I had the same issue.- What I found was when using the backup key it causes the deadbolt cylinder to not fully extend into the plate on the doorframe. There was no way to get around this unless you completely removed the mechanism and re seated it. Once you used the keys again it would not extend more than half an inch and would jam.Due to the fact that using the backup key caused the deadbolt to not fully extend was a huge red flag for me. I have family who needs to come and go while I am at work. I had no confidence in n this lock being 100% functional. I cant be racing home to let people in just because of it failing or getting stuck. Considering this is the backup method to unlock the door if the digital pin pad fails, it is not a viable with the issues it causes.Ultimately, I was very disappointed in this product. As I stated Amcrest products appear to be going down hill with their quality. I would not recommend buying this, I would find something more expensive that is of higher quality. I am at the point I will be looking to different products other than Amcrest due to these types of issues.

Well made and easy to install
I am very familiar with Amcrest products. They’re well made and solid. I like their products. This review will be honest and dealing with minor aspects. But I do like the lock. The install for the lock is straight forward and standard (like any other lock I’ve installed). If you have installed another door lock like this one, this one will be easy. The touch screen is solid. There is a slight delay, though. You need to first touch the screen which the keypad will then display–which is fine and expected since the battery life would drain quickly if the display was constantly on. The touch screen keypad is somewhat forgiving regarding accuracy of touching the touch screen keys. I do have an issue once in a while where as I am programming the lock, a number will do a double press and the display turns off. I then have to start the programming from scratch. If you finish programming or mess up while programming, the lock may wait 1 minute before you can continue. This delay is a nuisance which makes the programming time much longer than it could be.When you press the “lock” key, you can tell the dead bolt moves into place. It has a strong sound. And the door feels solid. No complaints with the mechanics of the lock. I like the way it sounds and moves. The product says “smart lock”. I would not classify this as a smart lock. In my thinking, smart locks should have the capability of connecting to your wireless network with other “smart” features like establishing days/ times an unlock code is active. In reality, it’s just a programmable lock (with up to 50 available codes). Each code “slot” is assigned a number (01 – 50). You enter the administrator code (usually 6 digits), then enter the assigned number (01) then the code for unlocking the lock twice. You’ll need to keep track of which codes you use and which assigned number they’re assigned to–or you might have a mess.Overall, I am pleased with the lock. Our lock is on our Airbnb door. We have had no complaints from our guests. Although, I plan to move this lock to another door on the house and get a true wireless lock because I can see what codes are being used plus other smart features this lock does not have.If you want a solid door lock, this is as good as it gets. Amcrest has outdone themselves with the lock. As you can see, I am being very picky. If you don’t have to add / delete unlock codes all the time, this lock would be a perfect addition to your security needs. I do like Amcrest products. I think my only issue (and it’s really minor) with some of their products is they’re made by an engineer without too much of thought for true usability for a 21st Century, non-techy person. However, they’re not so overly complicated that they’re impossible to figure out.
