Work well, very bright, may have connection issue
Great lights so far except weird connection issues. Very bright (see pic) we keep ours dimmed for night time at 4% brightness and they still may be too bright. The colors are not as bright but so far very happy. Our only issue is one light does not stay connected or doesnât turn off as scheduled like all of the other ones. So itâs on constantly. So I have to open the app, walk outside near the light and wait for it to connect then turn it off. The bigger issue is, it always turns on at night as scheduled!! Very frustrating that it always works then always doesnât work. Do I need to stand under it to redo the scheduler? IDK

Great value lights with so many options
This is my fourth project with recessed LED lights and I love the improvements that they have made over the years. In 2013, I installed some that were essentially mini can lights in our covered deck and, with those, I had to pull both ends of the wire out of the hole enough to connect them in the junction box from below. In 2020, I installed some in our kitchen that had the junction box attached to the top of the light. With attic access above, I could lay out all the electrical wire beforehand, although I had to use more wire to assure that I could pull both ends through each hole to connect them at the junction. That was then…In 2024, I decided I wanted similar lights in the dining room. I went with a brand here on Amazon called ECOELER (rated 1100 lumens) and found that they had really improved the design with the junction box being separate connected by a wire plugged between it and the light. I was able to create the whole string of junction boxes and electrical wire beforehand, then go into the attic, connect it to the existing power and lay it out near where the holes would be cut. To make this easier, I sent a nail up through the center of most of the holes that were going to be cut from below so I could get the boxes close and, for the lights in the two corners of the rectangle, I sent up a longer piece of wire to have a general idea where I needed to be amidst the thick blanket of attic insulation. This worked beautifully and I was able to quickly lay out the wire. I cut the first hole from above using a Rotozip and having someone hold a bucket under the hole below. This did not end up being faster or causing less mess, plus the work all had to be done in the uncomfortable attic, so I settled on cutting the holes from below using a wallboard saw. I would then reach through, find the white wire, connect it to the light and pop the light in place super-fast.With these Amico lights, the process is similar. However, I put them in the front eaves of our house and used a 4″ hole saw to cut through the aluminum eaves. One improvement over the lights I installed last year are the “mixed-use” fast connectors that were included. They actually work with the smaller soldered wires within the junction box AND with 14AWG wire used in typical home electrical. I have seen this offered in some other LED lights I recently installed, but they didn’t actually hold the smaller wire tight like these do. Since they are accent lights, 800 lumens will be bright enough for my needs.Since it has decent ratings in the Play Store, I will be using the Smart Life app or possibly look into whether one of my existing apps will work. I will typically be using 1-2 colors themed to certain holidays and feel as though these will work well for that since they offer all imaginable color options. They are a good value for what we wanted, which was subtle holiday/event lighting.

Disappointed
These were installed on my covered porch to replace old can lights, primarily so that we could have independent control over the lights vs fan that are all on the same switch. We have excellent wifi coverage throughout the house & yard, and tons of other wifi smart devices that work fine. These have had constant issues since installation, and my best guess is its a poor connectivity issue. Or maybe they’re just crappy. Initial connection to them from the SmartLife app was troublesome. They were unable to connect to our primary network, even though my phone was showing full strength in that area. We have a 2nd network that is used for further out in the yard and I was finally able to get them initialized on that network. Since then, we’ve had random issues of 1 out of the 4 lights being On but displaying as Off in the app, or vice versa. Its random as to which light. One of the lights also will not adjust color temp; I can set a non-white color just fine, but it will only glow white on the “hospital” white rather than the soft white I set all the others to. Since the fan light can only produce one color temp, i really would like for all the lights to match that, so this is particularly annoying. If the electrical hookup weren’t such a pain (due to our existing wiring and ceiling complications, not the lights themselves) I would be returning these.

Love the white light provided
The colors you get with this are great, I had a bunch of RGB colored ones and I am slowly replacing them with the ones with built in white light. Being able to dynamically change the color temperature is also a huge win. I really like the mid range between soft and whie, as it gives a good mixture. My partner likes all warm. SO this light is suitable for both of us. The app that comes with it is pretty standard. It is actually the same app that a lot of these brands use to control their lights. I actually recommend trying to add these lights in whatever app you are familiar with, because sometimes it just works!Â

App is mandatory to have
To setup the lights, the app is a mandatory requirement. The features are cool and all but you will need wifi or internet connect to hook these lights up, a major caveat.
