Great auger bits for a multitude of soil types.
I had purchased an auger bulb drill bit from tractor supply and got frustrated with how crappy it did. I ordered these and what a difference. Iâm located in South Carolina and the soil in my yard is a mix of top soil, clay and gravel. I was able to dig my holes in no time with the bits bringing the gravel to the top. They worked great and I was able to plant my 20 plants easily. There are multiple sizes and I used the smaller ones first to get everything started, then upsized as needed. Great design of the augers to be able to dig down in the gravel. Definitely worth the money.

Excellent, well-made auger bits – it really works!
These are very well made and sturdy. I used the smaller of the two sizes with a 20v DeWalt cordless drill, which is a very powerful drill. I used the bit to plant in tough North Texas soil, which is less like soil and more like rock-filled clay – the most difficult substance one can imagine to plant in, aside from concrete. This auger made the job easier, I was able to break up this impossible soil and remove the excess dirt with a shovel. Itâs a nearly impossible job otherwise. I made three large holes to plant shrubs that came in 2 gallon buckets, so the holes were about 18â in diameter and maybe 14â deep, leaving plenty of room to add good soil around the new plants.One thing to note, when you hit rocks or roots or just tough sticky clay, the drill will kick back with considerable force, and Iâve got a sore shoulder and wrists from that. After a while you learn to be less aggressive with the drilling and take smaller bites to avoid injury. If your drill has a two-speed gearbox, use the lower, higher torque setting, especially in tough soils, but please use caution!In all, this is a great tool that makes the difficult job of digging in tough earth much easier.

Great gift for the gardening wife. Drills perfect size holes for potted plants, bulbs, and starters. Quality is good for the price. I don’t understand why we got multiples of the same size, but it was exactly as described.Chucked up into our cordless Milwaukee without issues.

This thing is a beast. The previous auger I bought was a piece of garbage and broke after drilling one hole in rocky soil. This one held up for a dozen holes and is showing minimal signs of wear, despite chewing through rocks and hard packed dirt. Works well with a dewalt 20v drill or similar. Careful it doesn’t rip the drill out of your hands!

Works well, holds up to multiple uses
I have to admit to having been skeptical about this product. The ground about 2 inches beneath the surface of our property is firm, damp, clay. Even tillers have problems cutting into this soil. These augers, however, despite being affordable, were able to dig down 4 inches with ease, and a bit further with some help from a digging bar. This left us with some perfect spots to mix in gardening soil and our tomato plants. The smaller auger appears made for planting decorative flowers, and the larger is appropriately sized for larger garden plants like cucumbers, etc. They cut into the ground very well and appear sturdy enough to use for several more seasons. These cut down the time and work involved with putting in my wife’s garden considerably and I’d recommend them to anyone who likes to have a garden but hates the effort it takes to make their imperfect soil accept the plants.

I used these to drill holes in the ground to plant flowers. They worked great until I forgot about them. That happens in old age.

Good quality and performance so far
It’s worked well so far for 4×4 or 6×6 fence post repairs where I need to get a good sized hole started with minimal tools. A post hole digger can optionally be used alongside this to make your life a bit easier getting residual dirt out of the hole.This makes much quicker work than a post hole digger alone does though and is easily worth the cost to me.I’ve ground up against rocks and even a large brick – the black coating rubs off but I was surprised to see how smoothly the metal resisted the scratching. It didn’t dent or deform.The hex tip is also large and strong and hasn’t worn or slipped yet. Just make sure you click the chuck tight around it and be gentle.Lastly, using these can be hard or even dangerous on your wrists, especially with 20V drills set to max torque (usually setting 2 on drill mode on your drill) so do be cautious of how you are holding this. It helps a lot to have some bracing or to brace the drill battery between your knees. If you can’t do this, try to hold it in a way that will prevent it from bucking and twisting your wrist unexpectedly. Start at low torque and work your way up.

I can’t compare this to other products as I’ve never used anything like this before. It was great to receive 2 different sizes. I needed to dig a hole for an in ground gate latch. I was really trying to keep my expectations in check, my drill is cheap, I have all sorts of hand and back problems, I’ve never done anything like this before, I didn’t know if there was cement or giant rocks down there… this tool made it so easy! I poured water over the area to soften the soil then used the small one first and then the big one and I was able to make a decent size 22cm-ish deep hole in less than 20 minutes with minimal struggles, fill it with cement and a pole, and emasculate every man I’ve ever met. All in a days work. 10/10.
