This is a good small piece kit
I needed a small piece of fiberglass matt for a project and this package was perfect. At the same time, I also ordered a quart of resin. Done deal! Fiberglass is nasty to work with but using rubber gloves prevents that hand cleanup problem afterwards. If you use fiberglass occasionally like I do, this small package is perfect.

Great value for the $; it can fall apart when handling/cutting but that could be the factthat this individual user is a novice fiberglass user, and the material is not weaved.Still compared with WestMarine’s $22.99 for the same amount of material, buy it!

Bondo 488 Fiberglass Mat
I use this fiberglass mat as a base to fill larger holes where it will be completely encapsulated within the first coat of filler. That way any loose strands that may stick out aren’t an issue because a second coat or even several additional coats of filler will be going over it anyway. Because of its looser stranding, it can sometimes be a bit messier and a little more difficult to work with than a tighter woven fiberglass cloth, but I find that the mat really incorporates itself into the filler better for a stronger repair when filling larger holes and voids. It’s also generally less expensive than cloth, which helps keep costs down when you’re repairing several good size holes.

Did a great job on the boat repairs I needed to do…layered this with mat and came out perfectly. Tip…you can probably get it cheaper at Walmart. Pretty easy to work with but WEAR A MASK! And be prepared…when you start separating this stuff it is going to get EVERYWHERE!!!

i thought this product would be more like the bondo fiberglass sheet. it isn’t, its a lot looser and gets everywhere. I made the mistake of opening inside of my house… don’t do this. do not take it out of the bag unless your ready to clean it up. FIBERGLASS EVERYWHERE. Im sure the product is fine, just do research. i didn’t and i bought the wrong thing. also, DONT TAKE IT OUT OF THE BAG WHILE INSIDE OF YOUR BEDROOM. i got fiberglass strands EVERYWHERE. it ended up all over my floor, on my bed, my clothes… so difficult to clean up.so again, do research, do be stupid like me.
