Recessed Outlet For Wall Mounting TV
I’m in the process of doing some home remodeling, and i’m upgrading to smart wifi switches and new receptacles and new wiring. In the process of doing this work, I wanted to add a wall mount TV in the Kitchen. Being that I am already running new wire, I snaked a wire up the wall and install a wall box. I wanted to utilize a recessed outlet for 2 reasons, one is that it allows me to use a close mount for the TV because the plug fits into the recessed area, so that the TV doesn’t stick out far from the wall and 2, if for some reason I ever decided to take down the TV, i could utilize the recessed outlet to power a wired clock. As for this recessed outlet, i’m pleased with my purchase. The build quality is top notch, it took only a minute to connect the wires, wrap some electrical tape around it for protection and screw it into the wall box. Amazon delivered this right to my door, so convenient. I didn’t have to burn an hour or two battling traffic and paying for gas to drive to the local big box store. As I continue to remodel the rest of my house, I will be buying more of these. I think these are a great value, the quality seems very good and the price can’t be beat.

Great for mounting most tvs but do some research
Installing a tv and soundbar over a mantle and needed a solution to the wiring problem. The construction is great and the quality seems far and above its price compared to the versions at big box stores. I did not have any issues connecting it to a box and installation is straight forward. In retrospect it would be smarter to go with RR1514 which has the keystone cutouts but to save on cost I went with this model. It works great and will save the headache of having to buy 4 more cords and keystone pieces from Monoprice but this setup will also leave you with dangling cords if you don’t use them. Ultimately I suggest a different product all together though.The one complaint I have is actually related to the devices layout when dealing with ultra low profile hanging solutions. If you want your television to really sit on the wall with the picture hanging style mount QualGear QG-TM-001 37-Inch to 70-Inch Universal Ultra Slim Low Profile Picture Hanging Style Wire Rope Wall Mount LED TVs, Stainless Steel this outlet is simply not deep enough. Any articulating mount will solve this issue or many televisions have a really thin wall plug now but the television we wanted to mount has a rather thick plug that forces the television off the wall.If I were to do this over again I would purchase the angled or horizontal style receptacle Arlington TVL508-1 Low Profile TV Box for Shallow Walls, 8-inch x 5-inch Box, 1/2-inch or 5/8-Inch Drywall, 1-Pack so regardless the plug the tv would sit flush.

good recessed outlet plate
I bought this for installing a tv on the wall and i wanted to have the outlet behind the tv out of sight. It is a great idea and works great. I did decide not to run my catv wire through the fuzzy part. Instead i cut down a catv outlet face plate to fit in the square hole where the fuzzy’s are and put a couple screws in that to hold it well. Everything worked out great.
