Don’t listen to the negative reviews…
This is a long review, I hope I can keep your attention.First off, I want to tell you guys that Fedex Smartpost is the carrier for this item. I didn’t have a problem with them, even though they delivered my dumbbells 2 days after the delivery estimate(can’t complain, free shipping). Fedex Smartpost sends to the closest USPS, then USPS takes an additional 2 days to deliver. It seems like most people hate Fedex Smartpost because they take longer than usual(“google fedex smartpost sucks” to see what I’m talking about). I ordered these on 2-9-13 and they arrived at my doorstep on 2-16-13, so one week exactly, average time for free shipping. The dumbbells came packaged professionally and my case came in perfect condition, which I was very pleased about.I also ordered 60 pound db set from Lion Roar Fitness on 2-8-13, and as of 2-16, they didn’t even start shipping so I ended up cancelling that order. They charged $20 for shipping too… I will NEVER even consider buying from LRF again. Just wanted to warn you guys about that. $20 for shipping AND they lag it? No thank you. These Dumbbell sets are a great investment, and I know they will last a long time. First of all, there is no toxic chemical smell the negative reviewers mentioned. Not even the case it came with. They clearly have gotten better with quality control. I read ALL of the negative reviews and took a chance with these, and I am glad I did. My bars are all nicely polished, smooth, and the weights and collars fit accordingly. There are 4 pieces of rubber stoppers that help keep these weights in place, 2 in the middle of the bar and 2 that are connected to the collars, which does an excellent job. When you lift weights, you should never “jerk” through your workouts, but instead keep good form with nice controlled movements. That’s how my workouts are, and the weights have not moved, rolled, clanked, at all. The only time the collars roll out, is when I twist them to change weights. I even put all the plates on one bar(30 lbs) and the weights/collars were still in place. People say these are not the best quality, but what more do you expect from a set of dumbbells? Good finish on the plates with a clean tough metal bar, which cannot rip as some rubber grip bars tend to rip after tightening the collars too much. Carefully put the plates on, or you could scratch/chip off the paint. If you don’t like getting callouses on your hands, I recommend investing in gloves. I don’t feel a thing with gloves on and can enjoy lifting weights without getting blisters. If you have Fat Gripz(check my review for Fat Gripz), you don’t even need gloves. Those rubber suckers will cover it, and give you a much better workout.I will buy additional plates for these soon but before you guys do as well, try adding Fat Gripz to the bars with your normal workouts. It will give your workouts more of a challenge, and you will see some good results in your forearm strength. I wish I knew about them when I wrestled in high school..Long story short, don’t listen to the negative reviews. Keep yourself in shape and buy these already!Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the bars + collars does not equal 5 pounds(unless you are weighing both bars and 4 collars together). So you get about 17.5 pounds each dumbbell. The description states that they weigh 5 pounds but it’s half. The case it comes with is about 5 or 6 pounds so that’s where they kind of trick you. So if you do the math, 4 x 5lbs plate + 4 x 2.5 lbs plate + 2 x 2.5 collars & bar = 35 lbs + 5 lbs case = 40 lbs db set.. I’m not going to knock off a star for that because I bought these knowing this information. We can always buy more plates, so no big deal.Thank you for reading my long review. I hope this helped make your decision in building a better body! Train hard, train safe, and good luck 🙂

    Great Adjustible Weight Set
First of all, let’s get the smell part clear. Yes, it smells. It smells similar to the stuff you find in the tire/automotive aisles at Target/WalMart/other stores. Yes, it can be a bit strong. Let it air for a day and put a dryer sheet in the case when you close it. Problem solved. If you’re picky on having your home smell like candles or something, these are not for you. If you don’t even notice the smell of a gym when you’re in a gym (or aren’t the quickest to pick up on smells), then you’re fine. Also, I think it’s the box that smells, not any of the paint.Pros:*It is easy to add/remove weights. Just unscrew the collars, remove/add weights, screw collars back in. You can do this while resting in less than a minute.*You can add your own weights. When you outgrow these, you can add your own weights (doesn’t have to be the same brand). Any generic 1″ weight will do.*When I bought these, they were awesome for $40. Under $1/pound if you count the different combinations of weights you can do and that you can add more later.*Cheap compared to buying individually.Cons:*Slight bump in one of the corners of the case. No big deal. Contents inside are fine. Just an aesthetic issue.*Smell. As addressed above, it can be a bit overpowering, but just take the time to let them air out. Some people also do fine by rinsing them.*They’re not neoprene.Notes & Thoughts:*A lot of people complain about the default California warning added to this set. Seriously, California is overprotective. Drinking dozens of gallons of water is known to cause death. If ingested, gasoline can destroy your organs. Too much sun can give you cancer. They have these warnings on a ton of things for sale in California. Something containing nickel, for example, automatically gets this warning. If it were more serious, more states or the entire country would place a warning or they would be getting sued for giving people cancer (it’s not like lawyers are exactly shy).*The handles may be a bit too textured for some people, especially those with delicate hands or buying more weights. In that case, maybe you should buy weight-lifting gloves. For those who don’t mind getting scuffed by sand or falling hands-first on pavement, you’re fine. If anything, I shift my hands around on the bar which varies up my routine a bit.*People say it’s a good starter set. I just started a serious workout routine and have had this for a month. I see myself having this for years.*A few have complained that the weights aren’t exact. The bar doesn’t seem like 5 pounds, but when I weight myself with one of my 20 lb. dumbbells, I see my weight increase by 19.8 or 20 (my scale goes in intervals of 0.2). It’s close enough for me. I don’t need it to be that exact.*Mine didn’t seem to have any loose seal rings or collars. They seem good for the price. They may shift a small amount after a 30 minute workout to where you can hear a slight clunk. Just retighten them.

Great Starter Set for My Teenager
bought the CAP Barbell Adjustable Dumbbell Weight Set for my teenage son, and it’s been a solid addition to his fitness routine. The adjustable design is perfect for beginners—it lets him start with lighter weights and gradually increase as he builds strength. The plates are easy to swap out, and the included case keeps everything organized and portable. The build quality is decent, though the spin-lock collars require a bit of extra tightening to keep the plates secure during a workout. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to keep an eye on.For the price, this set offers excellent versatility and value. It’s sturdy enough for a home gym, and my son loves having the freedom to customize his workouts. A great buy overall, though a slight improvement to the locking mechanism would make it perfect. Still, highly recommended for beginners!

No better set of adjustable dumbells for the price or even 25% more
Great product. Very nice set for the price at just over $1 a pound. Also surprisingly great quality handle with impressive knurling. After buying this set I will be buying an extra set of these handles separately to use with my other plates to have another set of dumbells ready for drop sets. The only thing I’m not happy about is the shipping, ups trashed the box and chipped the coating on several of the plates. It’s very sad that cap can make such a nice set of dumbells and then some bum loading the truck at ups damages them before they arrive to my home

A bit over priced, but its a supply/demand thing, and the local shelves were bare.Delivery was not great…most likely all because of Canada Post, but eventually product arrived.

I agree with other reviewers who say that users must be sure to check that the nut holding the plates in place should be tightened before using. I have on a few occasions noticed that it becomes quite loose even when just sitting on the floor for a few days. Luckily I read the reviews before use so I made sure to check every time, so I haven’t had any issues of the nut actually falling off of the bar. I did notice the rubber smell at first but didn’t find it unbearable. The rubber smell was gone within a few days. I live in such a small apartment so its really nice just having the two bars and the ability to change the weights – rather than a stand with several different sized dumbbells. I wouldn’t have room for that. I have recommended these dumbbells to some of my friends who also live in small spaces and have lower budgets. I think overall they are very convenient and reliable.

With the city of Montreal closing down on gyms….yet again, I needed to build a home gym asap. My local shops had every gym equipment sold out, so I decided to search on Amazon for adjustable dumbbells….I got exactly what I wanted and needed, but what impressed me the most was how fast I got it. I highly recommend you buy them.
