Coleman 9420-381 Heat/Cool Wall Thermostat – Digital, Black

Great Updated RV Thermostat!
We needed to replace our old Coleman thermostat in our 2015 Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel after a mishap with forgetting to lock the fridge door and it slamming the thermostat in transit. The old one was manual/ analog style with the screen showing the temp as the only digital part on it. This new one is all digital, with all settings shown on-screen along with the chosen temp, and actual temp, fan/cool/heat selection, all together on the screen at once (Video shows this product first, then the old one for comparison, since we still have an old original one in the other half of our 40′ fifth wheel).We had to call Coleman directly to find the replacement since they no longer make that older thermostat that we broke. They gave us this model number for compatibility with our setup and said good luck, you have to find a seller to buy it from lol. So we bought it on Amazon with excitement to get a digital thermostat in it’s place!It was fairly easy to install, we went to YouTube university and within a couple videos we were ready to go. It’s a smaller unit than the old one, pretty compact and less wires to hardwire than the old unit had, and very simple to use. So simple you can sometimes think you missed a step, since it only takes 2 steps to make any adjustments, until you hear the ac or heater kick on and acknowledge your choice of temp and realize it really is that easy.Works great on simple fan setting, AC, and heat! We have a furnace that can run on gas or electricity and this unit is supposed to work for both but we never use the furnace and only tested on electricity for the furnace, so I’m not sure how it works when on gas but with how good it’s gone with everything else I’m sure it’s also great!We’ve had it about 3 or 4 months and no issues. The price was reasonable, much better than anywhere else we searched, and we received it a little earlier than expected when it was delivered, awesome service! Haven’t needed to speak to the seller because everything was packaged well, came fast and in good shape, and works perfectly, so I can’t speak to customer service. But we’re already looking at buying another to replace our second thermostat in the fifth wheel, we’re full time RVers and this was so easy to install ourselves and works so nicely, looks good and so simple to use, we wanna go ahead and get the upstairs a matching unit!

Somewhat Dead on Arrival
They must have sold me some that was already returned. This thing turns on and then soon as you set the heat temperature it turns off and the Heat obviously turns off. This is horrible product and there’s no returns to yeah they sold me garbage and made sure there was no returns. Do not recommend this product nor do I recommend this seller! Do not buy from these people definitely do not buy this product. It will not work for heat only situations. I don’t know about anything else because I already installed the heat pump for my AC. But this will not run my propane furnace. Garbage let me repeat myself garbage. Save yourself don’t buy this crap and don’t deal with the frustration I’m dealing with. I have two brand new holes in my wall for this garbage.

Installing the wires can be a bit tricky
Works with the Suburban Furance and the Coleman Mach Air conditioner unit. Both epuipment are 12v powered. This unit is smaller than the original unit, which mine had the analog slider. I had a bit of a issue with installing the wires and the circuit board has these terminal hole that are made to slide the wire in and it suppose to lock in the wire. I had a couple of issue with the wire slipping back out. So you have to really play with wire to make sure it can overcome the force required. The thremostat is working great. Only issue is it smaller so you will see where the drill hole is on the original and having the wire plug into the unit. 4 starts I do like it being digital.

It works!
Works perfectly. The wire connections are somewhat of a challenge but install took @ 16 minutes and it works great. Same size as the analog, it slides the same mounting bracket. Easy to use and I can actually read what’s going on vs guessing which temp the dial is set to. Odd part is that the package is not sent in a box, the plastic bag is open with a note saying this product is new and if you attempt to return they’ll glad your account. Anyway it works so I’m happy.

Size of unit is quite small. I was hoping it would have covered the old holes, but it still works fine.
