Customers say
Customers find the storage box easy to assemble and appreciate its roomy capacity for patio pillows and outdoor cushions. The appearance receives positive feedback, with customers saying it looks great and compliments their backyard. However, the build quality is concerning, with reports of the box falling apart after a year of use and being made of cheap materials. Moreover, the waterproofing and lid closure receive mixed reviews – while some say it keeps contents dry, others note it’s not watertight, and the lid doesn’t close tightly. The value for money is also mixed, with some finding it an excellent value while others consider it a waste of time and money.

Not “Alloy Steel”
I am completely happy with this patio box although the item description is incorrect. The material described in the item listing is “alloy steel”. The only metal in this box is the hasp, lid hinges, lid supports and screws. The rest is either resin or plastic, WHICH IS PERFECTLY OK. I purchased this box based on it’s low price vs it’s large size and had some concern with the durability of it’s “steel” construction and was pleased that it wasn’t. I gave five stars because this suited my needs to a “T”. It was simple to assemble, more or less “snapping” together, with just a few screws for the hasp and lid supports. I wouldn’t trust the hasp to keep thieves out as a good yank would defeat the screws.

Plastic Junk
This is a snap together plastic bin. It’s not very stable. Not all parts are marked with assembly sequence. While assembling, plastic clips and hinges broke. When opening the top, the hinge screws pulled out of the lid. Very poor quality for it’s purpose. DO NOT use for boat dock storage. NOT watertight. Very easy to break into. See photos for better understanding.

Excellent Value
Have several COSCO product: steps, trolleys… All well designed and engineered. The Storage Box is no exception and is superior to other such items I have from two of the well known vendors.By far the easiest to assemble of any of my other boxes. The lid, with stays at both ends, opens fully (90 degrees) and is sturdy.Irritation: sides have unnecessarily large stickers on the inside for Left and Right that are of a flimsy plastic that WILL NOT peel off but tears into pieces. Should have left them as once started scraping, bending over the sides, the appearance is that of a “dogs’ breakfast” and has to be finished. More time than required to assemble, and considerably more uncomfortable. COSCO is not, of course, a ‘Trail Blazer’ in the use of such labels but why is it a follower in demonstrating contempt for the consumer?Do hope COSCO will broaden its offering to include a front door unit as there are instances – emergency generators – where such access is obligatory.

It’ll do
Don’t know yet how waterproof this will be as it’s July in the northern hemisphere. It is light in weight, while empty. Not unattractive, in my opinion. After attaching the lid to the base unit, it appeared quite obviously warped as it did not rest fully and equally on the base top edge, with large gaps on front left and right; higher on front left. Fiddled a bit with fully opening and closing and obtained a better fit. After finishing the entire assembly, the top appears to rest mostly equally around the top edge of the base. However, this is by no means going to keep out bugs and the smallest of rodents due to the gap between lid and base unit. As simple as the addition of a gasket may likely resolve the bug issue. I do not look forward to opening this after seasonal storage outdoors; I think I will still ‘bag’ my gear for added layer of protection. Fingers crossed. As for security with aid of a latch & lock, this is for the honest person. Based on how the bottom panel is fitted, one need only turn over the unit to get to the bottom panel, push it in to gain access. Packaging could be improved to put a protective layer of material between the nice lid surface and the cardboard box – see photos. Though minor, a dent in the lid aligns with damage on box

Very Functional
This is a great deck box, and it appears waterproof. We assembled it in about 20 mins and immediately put outdoor cushions in it. It actually rained that evening and everything stayed dry. Excited to see how well this holds up. Everything feels a little flimsy, but for the price that is ok.

glide for holding the box open is too stiff.
Assembly instructions could be better. After getting the box assembled, the glides to hold the box open are difficult to operate. When gently pushing down on the lid the screws on the back hinges popped out of the plastic as the glides are too stiff to operate. The hinges could be better designed or make the support glides ( J and K as noted on instructions} smoother to operate. Also, the only parts labeled were the end panels which made it more difficult to determine front from back, etc. Other than the problems I have mentioned, I like the box. It’s a good size to store my lounge chair cushions. I hope the manufcturer will take note and come up with a better design for holding the top open.

Do not buy!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Liked the size, but upon receipt found the product seriously under the quality I expected. Â The hinge mechanisms donât work well. Â So tight the hinge rods actually bent when I tried to close the lid. Â Poor choice on my part. Â Very flimsy after assembly. Â You get what you pay for I guess. Â Iâll use it without the hinges because I donât want the hassle of a return, but my advice is DO NOT BUY THIS! Â Go to Samâs club and pay a bit more aget one that is much sturdier and much better quality.

More expensive because itâs much more sturdy than less expensive ones

So disappointed with this purchase, it looked good for a short period of time and then fell apart. Complete waste of money. I bought it to store garden hose and our boat cover, loved the size and look of it. It is not weather resistant at all as it basically fell apart after a month of it being outside. The cover cracked, the hinges broke, so so so disappointed. I feel your description of this product is not accurate at all and should not be advertised as sturdy or something to be used outside.I would like a refund or a replacement if this was an isolated case with a defective product.

using it for patio cushion storage. Assembly diagram small so quite hard to read. The product is fine, but I was disappointed that it was not delivered to my home. I had to arrange to get it picked up.

Unit was ordered to store patio furniture cushions, to stay outside in a weather sheltered area.Pros:Unit arrived quickly, undamaged box. Easy to assemble. CheapCustomer Service was very quick to respond.Cons:Very thin walls. Likely wouldn’t hold larger children if they climb on it. The panels were separating on the corners and would allow weather/pests to get inside the panels. We contacted the seller, they offer warranty on SOME of the parts, but not all – of course not the panel we need. As well, since it is a large package, to return it YOU have to take it to the UPS drop spot.Cheap – you get what you pay for…
