Nice replacement for a 12 year old Dell.
So my original plan was to pick up some parts and build my mom a new desktop PC as her old Haswell-era Dell was pretty outdated and was going to have issues with Windows 11. Mom doesn’t need anything spectacular, but she tends to keep her computers for a long time, so I didn’t want to go too low end. I was originally planning on doing an AM5 build with a Ryzen 7 7900X or 8700G, mid-range B650/B650-E mobo, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, cheapish case, and a ~600W PSU in case this computer would ever get fitted with a discrete GPU. I thought that a price ceiling of $800 would get me there using all new parts. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t quite get everything for that price ( I ended up at over $950). Also considered a similar i7 build which was a little cheaper, but still a bit over $800.But then I found this Dell desktop for sale on Prime Day. For the price, the specs looked good; Arrow lake i7, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVMe. for around $770. That’s not a bad deal at all, and you’d be hard pressed to build yourself one for that amount of money. You get the tower itself, which isn’t really what I’d call full-sized, a cheap chicklet keyboard, and a cheap/very light mouse. There isn’t too much in the way of pre-installed shovelware. But there are some McAfee products that you’ll probably want to uninstall right off the bad. The RAM is a single 32GB stick which surprised me, and you get an OEM spec NVMe SSD. There is an open slot for another stick of RAM, but no expansion options for another M.2 SSD. There is a SATA port so presumably you could add another SATA SSD if you wanted to. The stock NVMe SSD is one of those really short ones like you would find in a Steam deck, but it should be able use the longer/more common M.2. SSDs if you ever wanted to swap it out.The stock PSU is a measly 180 watts and only bronze rated at that, so a discrete GPU is going to be a big ask here. And as you may have guessed it’s not a standard ATX PSU nor does the motherboard have the standard ATX power connectors. With that said, there are apparently some specific aftermarket PSUs that are compatible with this case and motherboard, and you can supposedly get up to a 460 watt PSU if you look hard enough. That would be enough PSU for a discrete GPU with around a 200-250-ish watt TDP. So something like an RTX 5060 ti or RX 9060 XT would be doable with a PSU upgrade. But you’d also have to make sure the card could physically fit because the case used here isn’t exactly spacious, and you’d probably want to throw in an extra intake and exhaust fan while you’re at it. Right out of the box though, this isn’t an ideal gaming computer at all. The potential is there with the afore mentioned PSU upgrade, but there are probably better options if you’re into gaming. But for everyday use this thing is absolutely fine, it’s quiet, boots up quickly, and is very snappy in typical use. I was able to get it up and running within minutes. For the price I got it for on Prime day, I really can’t complain. It’s not a computer that I would buy for myself, but for my mom who just needs something reliable and easy to use, you really can’t go wrong.

    Super speedy home computer!
This computer is the perfect replacement for anyone with an old Windows 10 or below user. It will last us another 10 years. Enough speed, plenty of RAM and 1TB of storage is fine for most. The prime day deal 200 off at 750 and used a discover card for extra 5 percent off. This was a steal for this computer. Highly recommended for a speedy home computer.

    Decent compact desktop
Very capable computer. Handles normal tasks such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc. rapidly. Very easy to replace my old desktop. The lack of a sound card and internal optical drive kept it from getting a 5-star rating. Would recommend!

    Good PC for biz work
Very suprized Dell does a good job of providing assistance with upgrades and keeping your PC running well. I got the 16GB ram memory due to a special on prime day but would recommend 32GB. However I believe Dell offers memory upgrades. So I figure I can always upgrade to 32gb there is a slot for another ram strip. Hope this helps. Overall not a bad PC for biz stuff but would not recommend for gaming no seperate graphics card but suprizingly it does well with a 2K monitor when watching movies, youtube etc. Hope this helps.

This is a good PC. These new, integrated machines will impress you.
I am impressed with the quality, speed, simplicity and ease of use – all in a compact package 3/4 of the height of my last Dell tower.Old techies beware: your ancient knowledge may be detrimental to setup. Remember when you had to tweak everything to get things to work and make peripherals compatible? Forget about performing installation tweaks. Go online to the Dell website like it recommends and follow the instructions. Simple. In fact, today’s Dell PC is reminiscent of a Mac plug and play. Let the defaults set everything up and then go about tweaking if you have a need.Like not wanting to work on automobiles anymore, I perfectly happy not working on a PC and just being a user. The Dell PC has come a long way!

    So far so good.
Lots of memory and storage. Nice and quiet. Not a speed demon but more than adequate for general use. Bummed that I had to ditch a perfectly working performance system just to support TurboTax.

Unable to reach a human being in Dell Customer support. Amazon customer support has been no help.
I was excited to receive my new desktop tower. I spent hours setting it up and transferring important data from my old computer. The computer failed within a week. I have returned it, but I was unable to get back into the computer to delete my personal data from the hard drive. To date, Dell customer support has been unhelpful. I’ll update this review after I spend more hours with Dell Customer Support. Very unhappy and frustrated!Update on my previous review: After repeated attempts, I am unable to contact a human being in Dell Customer Service. I won’t buy another product from DellAmazon customer support is no help. My personal data is out there to be stolen. Based on my experience, I would not recommend buying a computer on Amazon.

Great computer! Easy to set up and I love the USB connections on the front. I plugged my soundbar into the headphone jack and it works well. I don’t really know anything yet about expanding what is in the box. The box is small which makes it great when you put it on the desk beside the monitor. Works well with the Dell monitor I bought to go with it. Attaches with the HDMI cable. I am glad I bought it rather than another laptop.

Concise explanation: always a fan and thought dell was the best, gave them all the chances to make this right professional to professional, all business with courtesies abundant.Worked hours with the great support team at Amazon doing troubleshooting to every extreme as possible. They reflected that back to me and thanked me as well, refund set.But as a hard working thinking person, they should provide return shipping with the same easy as deliveries from glaring oversights and poor updating of their systems & procedures. It locked me out after what my be the last step down loading the updates. It could not self repair with no kybrd/mouse. And would need a cell phone to get through their software bridge. The late night support guy was all about I was not getting a refund no matter what said 3 times when Amazon lready said I was. I wanted my return picked up saving me resources to do so!!!This is not professional and consumer minded at all, but like the same sort of stuff I’d get from scrambling, poorly organized businesses. It has to be said as we consumers are left paying poor business modelsI was only looking for a windows 11 PC to use for emails, and bought an inexpensive MSI codex R2 instead, set up a breeze!!

To install a hdd you have to have a special sata to 6 pin atx cable or make one from a standard one. The socket on the motherboard isn’t a standard pinout. You have to cut and cross wires on a standard sata power cable to make it compatible. If you don’t won’t to add extra devices i guess it is ok. I haven’t tried to other things on pcie yet.
