First impressions are good
elago is a case brand I’ve liked over the years, so I jumped on this option as one of my first iPhone 17 Pro Max cases.Obviously, I don’t have my iPhone 17 Pro Max yet, so this is just a first look at the case in hand. I’ll update once I can actually use it on the phone.First impressions are good. The price is excellent compared to Apple’s $50 cases, and it’s nice to have one ready to go before the phone arrives. The silicone material feels very similar to Apple’s cases, grippy but not overly sticky, so it slides in and out of a pocket without catching lint or fabric. The inside microfiber lining is a nice touch, keeping the back of the phone protected from micro scratches.MagSafe seems to work well on the case. Combined with the grippy silicon, it seems likely the phone would be very secure, but I will need to check with the quite large and heavy iPhone 17 Pro Max when it comes.The Stone color is subtle and clean, though I do wonder how it will look paired with the orange iPhone. Personally, I’d prefer if the camera housing was fully covered so the phone color didn’t peek through at all, since that can make some color combinations look odd.I also like that elago uses a proper molded button for the camera and volume controls rather than just leaving an open cutout. That small detail makes a case feel more finished and less like a cheap shell. The raised edges around the camera and screen give it a reassuring amount of protection without making it feel bulky.So far, it looks like a solid alternative to Apple’s official case at a much better price. Once the phone arrives, I’ll update on the fit, MagSafe performance, and overall day-to-day feel.
