Outstanding composter!
What an amazing tool! I have been a traditional composter for decades. Started out with a simple triple-bin design and graduated to spinning barrels about 20 years ago. I am an avid cook-from-scratch person, spending a lot of hours in my kitchen. Research on composting and appreciating the benefits as I grow organically in my vegetable garden, I came across this âmagicâ machine just recently.I have used it almost daily since my purchase and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. It couldnât be simpler to operate, compact design allows it to be ready for use quickly and easily, clean up is a breeze and the smell (I know how smelly a collection bucket can get) is actually quite pleasant if youâre into a mild, natural outdoorsy fragrance. The odor is really only noticeable when emptying the finished compost. I really like the size as it allows for daily or every other day use. The quality of the machine appears to be quite good, even though I am no engineer. Instructions for use and care are clear and concise. No real learning curve here. The simplicity is terrific for anyone to use. Wish I had found it a lot sooner. Thanks so much for marketing this product.

A Composter that does all the work.
I’ve been using my Ouaken Composter for about a month. I am really happy with it. The size is perfect to sit on my kitchen counter; it’s smaller than an breadmaker. There is a bit of a learning curve to determine how much brown vs green material to make a nice blend of compost for gardening. I have had a few batches that were too moist, not enough brown materials or paper scraps etc. I just pour them out into my large gardening container that just has planting soil in it and mix it up. It will dry out and be ready to go next season or if I’m replanting some of my garden before then. There is no odor or noise. Directions say it will decompose in about 3-4 hours. That has not been my experience. It’s usually about 5 hours. I usually run it every other day and set it to run when I go to bed. The more dry ingredients that are added, the better the quality of the compost IMO. My garden is still very green and I have no fall leaves yet so will be happy to keep a pile of those to add in the future. The composter is very easy to clean, just rinse it out. I’ve never used the cleaning function. Why waste the electricity? If some material is stuck on the blade I just let it soak with water for a bit and then I pour that water out in my vegetable garden. I’m glad I finally purchased this. I’ve had 2 other composters in the past that were outside and required a lot of care. This is very simple to use.

Quality composter but a couple of things you need to know
I love this kitchen composter. Iâve only gotten it this week and have used it twice on Crush and the end result was wonderful. Dry, small, perfect to work into potting mix or garden soil. No smell, unit is extremely quiet. Looks good in my kitchen and doesnât take up much room. It is very well made. Now, the CONS: the directions could be better. Itâs somewhat vague on what the blinking buttons might mean. So it is hard for me to understand how to troubleshoot. There isnât a YouTube tutorial by a user to help. The companyâs video doesnât help. Also, they are vague on where to get replacement charcoal filters for when the time comes. I think it says use a filter 4mm but that doesnât compute with generic filters when I looked. Also there are no directions on how to change the filter

Strongly recommend
I am very impressed with this product. It fits perfectly in my kitchen and I can easily move it when needed.I did not notice any bad smell and it is also very quiet.Quality is good, and I dont need to hide it during parties. It is thick and durable. It is user friendly, and I can open it easily. If it is running, I can easily stop and add more left overs without any issues. When compost is done, theres a handle that helps with dumping compost to the bin, easy to remove.

Impressed by the Ouaken Electric Composter
I’ve been very impressed by the Ouaken Electric Composter. The design is very clean and functional, and it is easy to operate. I found the motor to be heavy duty, while the operation is acceptably quiet for indoor use. Our family generates a lot of compostable waste, so we run the unit twice a week. The videos are accurate – food scraps are greatly reduced in volume and a dry granular residue remains. Cleaning is simple – I wash the container in the sink. This was a good buy for us.

Iâd grown tired of wrestling with those smelly food-waste liners, and by Tuesday the bin already smelt like last weekâs curry. This little countertop composter arrived as a breath of fresh air, square and compact, about the size of our old bread-maker. It swallows roughly four litres of peelings, coffee grounds and the occasional eggshell without complaint. Tap the touch panel on the lid, the blades start whirring, and a tiny window lets you watch the shredding if you are that way inclined. The best surprises came first. A full cycle finishes in just under three hours and the hum is no louder than the fridge, so I often set it going after washing-up and forget about it until morning. The carbon filter genuinely works, my notoriously sensitive-nosed collie no longer sniffs around the kitchen bin. Cleaning is easy too – there is a rinse setting and the bucket pops straight into the dishwasher when it needs a proper scrub. All said, the machine feels solid, looks smart on the worktop, and the dry, earthy crumbs it produces have already perked up the soil in my raised beds. For a medium-sized family keen to keep food waste out of the wheelie bin, it has earned its place next to the kettle.

I have wanted an electric composter for a long time, so I did research, read customer reviews and consumer reports before settling on the Ouaken electric composter. While there are a lot of options and brands available, I chose this one because of the many positive reviews, consumer reports, good price and features other brands do not have. The 4 litre bucket size is the largest I could find within a reasonable price range. I can fit a ton of kitchen scraps into it and only have to run the composter once to clean them all up.This model also has a self cleaning feature that I did not see in any other brand. The glass top allows you to view the composting process as it happens. It’s amazing how quickly a full bucket of food scraps turns into a small amount of grounds at the bottom of the bucket. The composter is easy to set up and the instruction manual informative. I would have appreciated more information on what items can and cannot be used in the composter. They do not have a website with this information, but you can email their customer service if you have a question about a specific item. They respond quickly and are helpful.I have used the composter several times on various types of food scraps and each time it took between 3 and 4 hours to process a full bucket. The compost is consistently dry, clean and finely ground. There is no offensive smell. The composter turns off automatically when the process is completed. It’s best to let it cool down before opening the lid, as it gets quite hot. You also want to sit your composter where it has open space all around it, for safety, given how hot it gets.I followed the recommendation to add browns to my greens for a well balanced compost. I have been using finely shredded paper from my paper shredder and it works perfectly. I’ve also added used paper towels and napkins, which also worked well. The machine is extremely quiet, even at night when there is no other noise.I saw in the customer reviews that some people complained about the lid not fitting. I do not see how it can be an issue, as you just need to line up the arrow and turn the lid to open and close it. The lid fits securely and is easy to operate.I had also read some people experienced the composter jamming. If you do not put unreasonably large chunks of food in the composter, it will not jam. I have not experienced any jamming, even with a full bucket. I have avoided putting in large items like apple cores or corn cobs. I do not eat meat, so I did not try to process bones. The composter has a warranty, so don’t forget to follow the instructions in the manual and register your warranty by emailing the company your Amazon order number.I do not have any concerns or complaints about the composter. It has exceeded my expectations. The only quirk I have found is that when you open the lid, the power comes on automatically. This is helpful if you are going to use the machine at the time, but if you are just putting some scraps in there for later, you have to manually turn the machine off. Not a big deal, just a quirk I noticed.Overall, I highly recommend the Ouaken electric composter with the 4 litre bucket. I wish I had gotten this sooner, when I was canning food from my garden.

Works way better than anticipated!! A ‘full’ bucket for me takes around 8 hours (never remember to accurately time it). I put in: egg shells, fruit and veg scraps (cut up bigger things like watermelon rind, lemons/orange peels), stale crackers/chips, coffee grounds, paper towel, meal leftovers, fridge leftovers that start to scare me.I have used it five times so far.Comes out as fluffy, dry ‘soil’ that I compile in a rubbermaid container, but, need to figure out how to use it in the garden without the dogs getting into it, though! 🙂 The first batch I threw into the garden, they hoovered up.The unit looks to be great quality, and is ‘good looking’.It is wayyy more quiet than I had expected, and love that very much, so it can run any time of day and not interfere with watching teevee, etc.I had a small concern when the bucket didn’t just slide in easily, as it had the first two times, so e-mailed customer service, to make sure there was nothing amiss, and received a reply very quickly. It was friendly and helpful. Was very impressed with this – thank you!Instruction booklet is great – clear, helpful.I like the larger capacity bucket, compared to some others, and the price point. Well worth the investment!! 10/10 would recommend this composter, and look forward to its continued use at limiting our garbage output (we live rural, so having an outdoor composter isn’t ideal with wildlife, never mind the effort and overall time it takes for it to break down), and we also have to take our garbage to the dump, so having less garbage to deal with/pay for is great).
