AMAZING Smart Composter!
The Smart Composter was EXACTLY what I was looking for and easily out performs models three times as expensive. After seeing my girlfriendâs parents pick one up and seeing what it could do, I had to get one. I wasnât prepared for the $800 they spent. When this gem popped up, I pulled the trigger. It did NOT disappoint! As a family of four and some picky eaters, we often have leftovers. Sometimes not enough to save so it goes in the trash. Not anymore. I usually only throw veggies into it so that may play a part, but I was astounded at the speed and efficiency this Smart Composter performed. It took about 4 hours but what was once salad, mixed veggies and scraps from prepping is now a useable, nutrient dense soil. I used the quick option and low capacity for its first run. I was initially surprised that not much soil was created, or was expecting more, but then I need to fill it more. So after a few days of scraps I let it go at full capacity and on standard mode. Much more soil was created and my houseplants love it! In total there are three capacity options and three cycles for breaking down the food into compost. I havenât yet checked out the ferment option.Regarding construction, itâs solid and extremely well built. It has a satin like finish and is very easy to clean. It does have some weight to it coming in at just under 18 pounds. Iâm sure this is due to the powerful motor. And with a 4 liter capacity, thereâs more soil than I know what to do with. Itâs just as large as the one I spoke about above, but at a fraction of the cost. It also has an automatic cleaning option making it super convenient.Another thing I noticed was there was no odor! I was worried about that initially and luckily, the smart composter impressed me again. There is a sizable carbon filter on the side helping to reduce and eliminate odors. When it arrived, there were two stickers over it. One on the outside and the other on the inside. Itâs also surprisingly quiet. I guess I expected it to be louder. We have a nugget ice maker thatâs louder than the composter. All in all this is an easy 5 star composter. Perfect for large families and gardeners!

Good composter for the kitchen
First, this is a lot quieter than I expected it to be. It does make some noise but it is not anywhere near loud enough to be annoying. It does a good job at breaking down the food but as an old-school gardener I am still skeptical about whether or not it is true “compost” but the quality of the “dirt” seems pretty good after a full cycle. So even after I compost it I do let the material go into the regular compost bin so that it has time to break down at a molecular level. As far as the overall functionality of it, it does a good job at breaking down the food. It could not have been easier to setup, I spent far more time reading the manual than actually getting it ready to use. Compared to other composters, this one is relatively cheap for its size.My wife was VERY against a countertop composter because she thought it would smell bad but honestly I cannot smell anything even remotely offensive when it is processing the food.

Works as advertised, not sure it’s a fit for us yet, but definitely composts our scraps overnight.
Ordered this mostly because my family likes to let food scraps build up in our sink or get left on dishses. We can’t install a disposal on our water system, so this provides a nice handy place for everyone to scrap their food into throughout the day. Then overnight we can start the composting cycle and:A. The volume of the material is significantly reduced if we want to trash it.B. We will be able to mix it into soil as fertilizer when we start prepping to plant this spring. So far, it’s worked really well for that purpose. It sits on the counter right next to our sink, so our teens don’t even have to remember to scrap their dishes in the trash… This is right there in their face. Overnight the composting cycle has also reliably ground up and dried out all of the food scraps we’ve put in it and they dump out nice and cleanly in the morning.I am concerned a abit about the energy usage, since it advertises this is a 500w appliance and the cycle times are fairly long (we are using a 5hr cycle). We shall see what that looks like on our electric bill.Still, it feels like a nice high quality appliance and is doing the job we bought it for. So if you want to compost in your kitchen, this seems like a safe bet.

They’ve improved these electric composters so much over the last few years.
Several years ago when these in-home composters first came onto the market I bought one and loved it so much. But because it was such new technology, it was short lived and after a year with it I started having problems. I’d always wanted to get another one, because the compost that these make actually work so well in my food garden! So this summer I picked up this composter and it’s amazing how much they’ve improved them since my first one several years ago.To start, they are much better now at controlling the smells. i can run this one and my whole house doesn’t stink. It’s quieter too. It does a great job of chopping and drying the food and this composter even has a self cleaning mode! I find myself actually using the compost I make from this even though it’s smaller than my larger bin composter outside. Because my large, outdoor bin takes all year to make any kind of compost. This smaller composter makes compost out of food waste in hours! And it’s perfect for mixing into your garden soil for a nutrient boost, without having large pieces left over that need to be broken down. It works so well, and I’m so happy with it!
